Anyone complaining about the random battles hasn't played any JRPG's.The encounter rate is not bad at all.And the encounter rate in the DC version is no different to the gamecube version.(I own them both).The only difference is the loading times are faster in the gamecube version so the battles go quicker and it feels better paced in the long run.

I cant find any evidence the final bounty boss is missable, nor the final piastol fight. The only boss from missing chests potentially is Vize the sky pirate but swashbuckler rank can be raised by not running from battles.So hopefully you can rest easy that you can't miss any bosses.
