Just plain and simple fun. Fuck modern gaming and fuck modern audiences. Shit is straight up cancer.

this was the last good generation for music, shows, movies and gaming. it's crazy how I can pick up anything from that era and immediately feel the soul, placing me back when I used to enjoy it.
>>
>>739017361
yea that's called nostalgia
>>
>>739017532
>it's just nostalgia bro
jej that's why it's being remade / remastered / reimagined / rebooted like crazy. It's not nostalgia, it's just quality they can't reproduce on their own today so they just copy and paste it.
>>
>>739017361
Correct. The Mayans were right about 2012, it wasn't the literal end of the world, but it was the end of soul.
>>
>>739017738
the reason for making those is because people have nostalgia so it's easy cash. you're probably merely pretending to be retarded and making stupid comment in order to get attention, but in case you're not. don't be so dumb.

It's being remade because the decrepit old ppl who liked it haven't die out yet

Retard, if that was the case, boomers and Xers would have been buying up those point and click adventure games well into the 90s and 00s. But that didn't happen. We got new IPs well in the 00s even 10s. The industry was driven purely by creativity then. Now it's max profits. Just compare the best selling games of today vs a decade ago even.

For online gaming? No.
>no stupid season pass or milking fans for every last cent
I've never heard a good argument against lootboxes and battlepasses. I get all the gameplay for free while wales pay for my free gameplay updates. Paying $80 a year for the same shit is retarded.
>no YouTuber / Twitch fags ruining it for everyone with their meta setup
True
>could say whatever you wanted without fear of getting suspended for a week
This is a privilege, not a right. Light hearted trash talking saying "noob" and "owned" is fine, saying you're going to slit someones moms throat and rape her corpse is what poor people say.
>team balance ensured fair play
No lmao, official ranked has objectively better balance
>made dozens of friends to play with
You can still make friends now you're just socially retarded

Yep, I would also add:
>large server populations of 24,32, and 64+ players in vanilla public play
This ensures that new players could learn the game's maps and gameplay mechanics at a leisurely pace. All the 5 vs 5 compslop you get now make it toxic for new players.
>competitive stuff was segregated from the pub experience
Grassroots communities sprung up, formed clans, and used their own server configs to facilitate their desire for higher skill expression. You had ClanBase, CAL, CPL, MLG, and others. There were even fragmovie sites like DemoHQ to upload your team's frags and show off prior to YouTube. Alternatively, you could just pubstomp to your hearts content.
>server browsers were king
All of this was possible because you weren't funneled into the same experience. Each game had dozens of websites dedicated to making maps, skins, and mods that a server could use and have its players download prior to joining. Sometimes, you ended up playing a whole new game mode like freeze tag. If you just wanted to play the vanilla game, that was there too. If you just wanted to fuck around on the 24/7 server of the game's most slop map, you could do that. There was so much choice, and so much control over how you experienced the game. You would meet the same players every night, the regulars, and form bonds that lasted a life time. It felt meaningful in ways that matchmaking can't replace.
