Morrowind presented a decently compelling vision for a setting and the deep dive into it did have the effect of providing the game with a draw that later entries based on the same premise wouldn't have due to focusing on more typical fantasy settings. But zoomers won't play either Daggerfall/Arena nor Morrowind, desu. Morrowind is simply the best entry in a franchise in which none of the games are particularly well-rounded.

Morrowind has the depth, nuance, and honest to god gay shit without obvious crowbar marks left by trying to warp the narrative to fit a quota. We hate the other ones because they have hints of crowbar while also being told by our big bros "this was so much better" which they kinda aren't wrong about.That being said, pretty much all the other zoomers I know cannot PLAY Morrowind and instead watch me or streamers play it instead because it's "too old" but always proceed to mod the everloving christ out of skyrim to make it closer to Morrowind.

other esos are mechanically worse. For example oblivion and skyrim has garbage scaling, both have shitty random loot generation too. Morrowind was a part of time where games had and purpose and a ending. I STILL replay morrowind obliion and skyrim every couple of years and morrowind is fun, oblivion is okay and skyrim is a slog

Or finding my first glass weapon ever in a daedric ruin, a dagger just left stuck into a corpse sticking out and I stole it and had to run like hell from the dremora it spawned. Felt like an actual adventurer in a living world for a little bit. This stuff is so routine and boring to read now but back then, on the first playthrough where I knew fucking nothing about what was going on and using the paper map that came with the game to chart out where to go? Shit was pure magic. Maybe I was the right age and mindset for it or something but it was the best shit ever for me when I was like 13.Now, do zoomers have that first-time exploring zeal I did? I dunno, if they played Skyrim and Oblivion first they already had that cherry popped. If they never did, maybe they felt some of the kino I did.
