To keep it simple, if you have a dildo of power that deals 5-10 physical damage, my understanding is that if you 'crit' you deal 10 damage. Being the maximum amount the weapon can hit for. A critical failure would be 5.

How come a crit hit does way more than the maximum 10 damage?

Bearing in mind there are no weapon or armour enhancements.

I just never fully understood critical hits, can someone explain it?
>>
the 5-10 is just your standard damage range, rolling a 2-19 in your hypothetical
crit would be a 20, which is rewarded usually with 150% damage or more just for being lucky
failure would be a 1, which would either be 0 damage, or some other actively negative effect. just for being very unlucky.

Crits do double damage in any game that uses a crit system
What you're describing isn't a crit but rolling max damage. If you roll max damage you hit the highest number you can without modifiers and a crit is a modifier

OP is a fag who just wanted an excuse to talk about dildos in public.

I always interpreted crits as being an opportunistic attack that hits a vital spot and deals exceptional damage. Similarly to how misses are you whiffing the attack, crits are the opposite.

>my understanding
Your understanding is wrong.

What do you gain by pretending to be retarded, anon?
>>
>>739023075
it means you hit something CRITICAL/weak/vital, therefore you do more damage than usual

If I throw a toothpick at you, it will do nothing. Unless it hits you in the eye in which case it can blind you for life.
That's a crit.

I just want you to know OP, that you basically just devised your own combat system and then said, "I don't understand how crits work." Do you think all games use the same system? Are you retarded?

So you like the dnd 4th edition implementation of a critical hit?

Did you play D&D 4E growing up?

No, but is that the crit method I'm thinking of?
