Why did Leon remove his own parasites first, before Ashley's? So much for chivalry!
>>
He wanted to make sure the machine actually works as intended
>>
>he thinks the pain from the parasite removal might be enough to kill them so he has to be the guinea pig
>his infection is further along, compelling him to choke ada until stabbed
>he is more capable, so if the machine breaks down after one attempt, he can protect ashley until they find another method whereas they will be up the creek if she's cured and leon is still infected

He wanted to make sure the machine wouldn't fucking euthanize him.
>inb4 the remake
The scene is very different in the remake. They're both at death's door, so Leon putting her first is him prioritizing her life over his. Also, he trusted Luis more implicitly in the remake.

On airliners you're always told to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others do the same
