Games are interactive, virtual and ultimately recreational. That doesn't mean it should be entirely throwaway however. The very nature of being able to interface and effect the medium with immediate consequence has some powerful implications for how much the medium may offer to explore sensation and simulation or altered and elevated states of mind or yearning. The lack of competant instituitonal cultural gatekeepers in gaming compared say tradional literature, art or media has very signifigant outsider insurgent potential always present as long as this continues. Thoughts?
