It's not fun

>Fighting giant moth boss
>Can't damage him with normal balls, have to use charged balls
>Fight becomes an insane slog to knock him down
I don't know if I just wasn't doing something right or I was severely underleveled but I dropped the game after that.
>>
It really isn't.
I kept playing it but had to stop a year ago because of tests, and then I never felt like picking it up back again.
>>
It is though
>>
i really thought I was going to fight in this game and it turned out to be boring puzzle shit

I'm gonna be honest, the art style gives this the vibe of being a tumblr tranny game

>>
>>739028193
There's no actual troonshit but the game is noticeably sexless (especially for a MMO knock-off) and there's a gay couple. Also the puzzle bullshit everyone complains about cannot be understated. There's three fucking puzzle dungeons in a row because the devs are colossal retards.

>deliberately generic MMO aesthetic
>>
I liked the combat but all the puzzle shit bored me to fucking tears. Also by the third or so area I had like a billion sidequests and couldn't be arsed
>>
>>739029812
This game and Secrets of Grindea both had the same problem where to clear the side quests you had to hit random bushes and shit for 3 hours to get a 1% drop. Which you needed five of.
>>
>>739029567
yeah i like that sometimes.
>>
>>739027353
Combat is not very interesting, agreed. The puzzles are fun. Thankfully alabaster dawn combat is fun now.
>>
I like the combat and the puzzles.

I don't like the shit crafting mechanics, the slew of generic sidequests, and the isometric obstacle courses to collect 1 bear ass or an arbitrarily locked treasure chest that I'll have to come back for later.
>>
>>739027353
It would be game of the decade except Rainworld and Brigador exist.
What do you think isn't fun about it?
You aren't doing the side quests, right?
It's an MMO, they're designed to waste your time. You aren't actually doing the "collect ten bear asses" stuff, right? Just play the real content and don't concern yourself with the bs.
Combat system and puzzles already make it better than ALTTP
>>739028193
I genuinely feel bad for you. I almost skipped this game because of the blue haired female protagonist (this was before they gave her a Tumblr nose) and I would've missed out on something absolutely fucking incredible. The demo is shit but the game kicks ass after the demo area with the negress talking to you. If you aren't enjoying it by the forest temple, drop it.
>>
I'm surprised the game's as well-received and successful as it is. Seems like the kind of game that would filter the majority between multiple polarizing design decisions, with a small handful who felt like the game was made literally for them.
>>
>>739030668
Lea literally carried the game, I only made it to the end because I wanted her to have her happy ending.
>>
why would they make an MMO where you can't tackle dungeons in a party?
>>
>>739030179
>he doesn't do all the time wasting bullshit in MMOs
>>
>>739030179
The game's a slog. Every area outstays its welcome three times over, this goes double for the dungeons
Writing is amateurish on a moment to moment basis and underdelivers on both of its core areas: playing an MMO with friends and being a copy of someone else.
WORST platforming in any game i've ever played.
Menus have the legibility of a game designed for the GBA
The world you spend most of your time interacting with is 'uninspired' on purpose
>>
>>739027353
I put this game off for years due to mixed opinions but I finally played it recently and I fucking loved it, so basically I'm never putting stock into reviews ever again.
>>
>>739029567

>>
>>739028970
i just wish anyone in alabaster dawn was nearly as compelling as lea and anyone else in crosscode
>>

I'll give you that most of the other characters outside of Lea, Emilie, and Apollo aren't quite as immediately memorable, but I still enjoyed them all.

>>739032705
To be fair, the world is inherently a much more dreary place than the setting of CrossCode. I'd like to believe they'll grow on me once more of the game is actually done.
>>
>>739029105
the difference is that crosscode requires thought and/or skill for the puzzle dungeons. zelda is baby shit.

>>
>>739035335

>>
>>739035335
Yea, the time varies for each dungeon (90 minutes for the longest, 30 for the shortest), but generally as long as it doesn't take you over an hour you'll win.
>>
>>739035306
I hated this being a thing at all, from a game design stand point at least. It just makes you feel retarded and constantly pressured for taking too long on a puzzle due to misunderstanding some mechanic or trying to solve it in some way that seems barely possible but is actually completely wrong, but if you stop to rethink your approach you risk wasting even more time.
>>
>>739036020
there is literally zero consequence for losing. its pure story flair. additionally, ng+ is a thing and you can give yourself the advantage of power and experience to try it again and go faster. you literally have nothing to complain about.
>>
>>739036739
it makes you feel dumb which is the opposite of what solving a puzzle should do
>>
>>739036789
my first playthrough i honestly didnt even think there was a genuine win/loss timer, and that it was just a scripted rivalry event thing. later when i looked at achievements and saw that there was one for beating her every time that i learned that there is a timer and that you can beat her instead. you're retarded and pathetic for giving a shit instead of just enjoying the puzzle game.
>>
>anons all complaining about the puzzle dungeons

>Combat is decent in the start but never really evolves during your entire time playing the game
>Paced terribly the more you play. Spend 3 hours doing puzzles back to back to back to back then swap to doing only combat for like an hour straight.
If you're LGBTQ and love puzzles then maybe the game is alright but as a straight man who enjoys a healthy mix of puzzle and combat. This game aint it. Also maybe a single character or narrative hook could go a long way. Shits so fucking predictable. No idea why people are obssesed with this slop. >>
>>739032705
The one thing that bothers me about AD is how bland of a concept it is compared to Cross Code. CC has the meta aspect of being a game set within a game world with the characters being aware of and commenting on the generic game world stuff. Meanwhile AD just feels like that generic game world where the characters are the NPCs from CC's game. The whole demo I was waiting for the shoe to drop and to see what the trick to the setting was going to be but it never happened.
>>
>>739038068
I'm sorry but I did enjoy this. I never opted to do pause buffering though. I simply failed the puzzle as many times as it took to learn the flow of it.
>>
>>739037917
>>739038068
its far less "reflex" as it is trial and error for seeing what the next step is and then doing it all over again to add 1 or 2 more steps, and then recognize what the next step is and add that into the routine. but you're right, it is speedtranny shit.
>>
>>739038068
this is some of the worst shit I've ever seen and anyone who enjoys it is 100% a balding troon
>>
>>739027353
I tried to push through a lot of red flags until eventually I decided the game wasn't fun enough for me to ignore everything I don't like in it. It often seems to be a twin stick shooter, but the controls are fucked up and the weapon sucks. It relies on a parry, but you can parry at the right time but you didn't point the thumbstick in the right direction, so it didn't work. You have a small pittance of moves, even if you try to specifically "equip" the most fun ones, and most of those rely on a resource that you're bled dry of constantly. This was weird to play because I would see things I liked, then try to use them and the game still wasn't very fun to play.

>>739038269

>>
>>739038271
>it relies on a parry
I played through the whole game without ever parrying once. Dodging was also a thing you could do.
>>
>>739038429
Not rely on it like Sekiro where combat turns into parrying enough to finish the boss. You can use i-frame dodges or just get hit and heal back any damage taken. The parry is very good though, nullifying damage and sometimes stunning the enemy. It's fun to see an attack right about to hit you, but you turn the tables completely in your favor. It's very possible to just not bother, like you did by dodging everything, and there's RPG builds specific to making the parry good.

>>739040481
Calling Lea a character is a bit generous.
In the 10 hours I spent playing Alabaster, Lea would still just be saying her name by that point.
>>
>>739040887
Lea as a character is simply more than just her words. We're past the point in history where people could pick up on things like gestures or expressions and infer information from that. We must now outright say everything directly to the camera so there is no room for ambiguity or interpretation. Perfectly in line with AD's extreme dumbing down of puzzles to boot, I feel.

Im doing the late game shit before finishing the game and i would say i manly enjoyed it but its not the best game ever or anything.
Lea carries it a lot, they use it really well for only having 7 words. A lot of the puzzles are interesting, the kind that make you wonder wtf are you supposed to do but once they "click" you can't believe how long it took you.
Wish the dungeons had a bit more combat to break the chain-puzzling.
I only started playing it cause people were shilling their latest game which im actually curious about now but its probably a long while away still.
Thanks for reading my blog
Threesome sex with Emilie & Lea
>>
>>739041151
I also wish there was a bit more combat to break up the puzzles. Sometimes the back to back puzzling got a little mentally exhausting and I'd have to simply take a break and come back later. I still liked it but there's only so much puzzling I can do in one sitting. All that said, I'm still gonna grab the DLC at some point. Probably when it goes on sale again since I literally just missed its most recent sale.

>>739027353
Game was fine, but making a platforming heavy game with that type of perspective was a horrible design choice and ruined the whole experience for me.

I just picked it up a few days back and I've been enjoying it. I like platforming like this, reminds of Alundra and Landstalker but with auto jump
Puzzles are everywhere which is okay buy I can see why people wouldn't like it as they tend to be more plentiful than forced combat areas
Just opened up the square area so I'm close to the end, just cleaning up quests to get some good gear to dick around in the arena with before beating the game

Every level takes 1k xp and enemies (and quests) give fewer xp the higher level you are.
So eventually enemies start giving pitiful xp (down to 1xp).
Once you are near the end of the game you can get some items called "zone boosters" which well, boost the level of the enemies on each zone so they are challenging and give xp again but you will end up outleveling those too.
So you can grind but its not endless. Levels do make a difference tho, i sort of remember reaching one of the optional end game bosses at like 52 when the quest was marked as 60 and getting my ass kicked then going back when i was 58 and it being noticeably easier.
Game is good

It really isn't. Not evel a real rpg but just a puzzle game disguised as an rpg.
Tried their newest game - alabaster dawn (early access) and it's unoptimized trash that creeps my gpu exclusively, despite being the same pixel art game with some minor effects.
Apparently people say that combat might be better and there are less tedious puzzles but who cares if it's onoptimized and unfinished.
They want to test this shit for 2 years but it's crystal clear they'll just forget about it, who needs to finish games when you can profit from EA?
Gonna play Unsighted instead,
