I'm so hyped for Subnautica 2, guys! As soon as i finish posting this thread i will open Steam and... wishlist it. And then i shall wait 3 years for the devs to make something actually worth playing, just like they did last time :)

I pirated it and I’m genuinely pretty disappointed so far. The gatekeeping of exploration in this is extremely fucking annoying. It requires interacting with the VERY badly-acted preachy story that just does not know the meaning of the word ‘verisimilitude.’ And the concept of NoA and copies obliterates the entire draw of the original. They added in metal poisoning and crazy psychic gooning to try and introduce urgency when they could have just kept it simple. I just don’t get it, how do they not understand their own work? What the fuck.

Early Access is $26.

It's nothing new, but still worth that price.

its not worth the wait, its really shit. one of the worst games I've ever played

The metal poisoning, viruses, and noa/biobed thing isn't to give you a ticking clock, but instead to tell you how hellish and torturous the planet is.
Everyone dies again and again and through incredibly slow and painful ways like lead poisoning or chromium paralysis. You don't need to listen to the voices or Jumpstart the world, and you're not infected with a disease that can destroy you permanently. In theory, your character could live forever given enough electrical power

And it will still be an unoptimised piece of shit riddled with bugs 3 years later.

>I just don’t get it, how do they not understand their own work?

The people who understood why Subnautica worked were all fired.
I mean we have literally watched this happen in real time.
Step 1: Company does a big diversity hire.
Step 2: Couple of the original devs complain about diverrsity hires, they get cancelled and fired.
Step 3: Diversity hires take control of project, interim work (below zero) is fucking ass)
Step 4: Any remaining competence on the team leaves
Step 5: Only diversity hires remain, who never cared about or understood the original product.

God you niggers are so miserable about everything

>preachy story
if you mean the capitalism bad stuff, nahema, the main person who says that stuff, is the villain, or at least it looks like you'll be allowed to side against her in the finished game

The exploration feels unrewarding too, not because there's no cool shit but because the "art" direction is god awful generic UE5 slop where everything look like fucking clay
>>
The ultra-diverse NPCs are really funny, Subnautica 1 did it without being obnoxious, while S2 is
>Dr Shankar Patel
>Professor N'gubu Obongo
>Engineer Nguyen Minh
>Specialist Jabali Akambe
At least the gameplay is great.
