Is a SAO game where you dont play as Kirito really a big selling point?

>>739033378Kind of, yeah. I just wished they completely diverged from the OG story, as in there either isn't a Kirito or Kirito failed. The appeal of SAO is the death game and seeing it to completion, which they decided to very quickly wrap up half way through the Aincrad Arc. Alfheim felt completely lame since the stakes weren't really there, and Gun Gale brought it back although still not nearly as good as Aincrad. I haven't seen much past Gun Gale since it's hard to keep going when all they're doing is questing. I'll finish it before the game releases though. Given that the game is only the first 2 floors, there's certainly plenty of time to diverge, as long as the game is successful enough to warrant a sequel.

A shit ton of people liked the setting but absolutely loathed Kirito. That said, this is about a decade too late to cash in on that sentiment, and the lack of interest now will make those people look like an extremely vocal minority.
