I genuinely think there's something deeply screwed up about how the ONLY thing really keeping PC gaming afloat is a single aging fat guy. All through the 2000's the industry was trying to straight up MURDER pc gaming and force people into using consoles, while Gaben actually saw PC gaming as something good and worthwhile and considered PC gamers CUSTOMERS and not just a bunch of filthy pirates. That's how he got to have his "monopoly", and now years later he is still under attack by the same people who wanted PC gaming dead all these years ago. PC gamers straight up don't have much time, if Gaben dies it will all be OVER, the PC market will get torn to shreds by corporate hyenas. And I know that you want to mention GoG here, well guess what? They will be next. And they don't have the same power as Gaben, so they will get torn apart effortlessly. Grim.
>>
why isn't he grooming a successor? are there no younger people in the field who have his spirit?
>>
this nigger is fat as hell
>>
>>739041893
his sons will probably sell valve when he dies so why bother
>>
>>739041893
His son will take over the money printer.

>>739041749
NEVER go (((public))).
Also dont worry, console "gaming" is fucking dead.
>>
>>739041893
I don't really trust Gaben's "successor" to be as effective as him, how do we know such a guy won't immediately start bending over for rival corpos
>>
the fact Microsoft doesn't have a monopoly on PC gaming is absurd mismanagement on their part. That they allowed a third party to outdo them on their own operating system is crazy. I get they have other priorities that make them more money but still, steam is worth a lot that could have been going to Microsoft instead of they weren't actively hostile to non-business users
>>
>>739042007
What are they gonna do lmao?
If anything I could see him take a bigger cut from every sale.
>>
>>739041749
I hope the fate of Valve to the globalists isn't in the hands of one son, one critical failure point. gayb beat the Rothschilds patent troll attempt and they've been acting up more since with lawsuits in two seperate states and in Australia.

He needs to have a whole army of based individuals gatekeeping and keeping the risk of compromised individuals fucking things over.

I launched a game I have on gog today
It automatically opened the gog launcher first which I didn't want it to
I started playing the game and got to the intro cutscene, then was forcibly alt-tabbed because the gog launcher opened a pop-up informing me of an update I had no intention of installing, I alt-tabbed back to the game and it crashed
I will never support gog again

>go see Valve demo at PAX Australia
>room is full of obese manchildren and ugly prescription-glasses wearing journos
>fat old fuck Gaben appears on stage and approaches the mic stand
>seize the opportunity and scream at the top of my lungs: "YO THIS NIGGA FINNA BOUTA RELEASE HALF-LIFE 3"
>whole room in shock and awe
>hear group of pcbros behind me: "You are a gentleman and a scholar, fine sir. We would give you Reddit upvotes if this were online."
>journos next to me: "The speech we needed in a world run by Trump, and it's beautiful. He's cute, too."
>Gaben looks directly at me and flashes a smile, giving me a thumbs up and winking
>stand up and leave
Anyone else been to any gaming conventions lately?

GoG is already part of the hive, they were owned by woke CDProjekt Red from inception.

It’s only a matter of time. If you produce anything of value, you will eventually get captured and looted by the Jewish financial mafia.
>>
>>739041749
You know gabe has a son right? And his son is a racing chad. Pretty sure he’s been briefed and is as based if not more based than his father.
>>
>>739047090
I heard his son does not give a shit about videogames whatsoever though
>>
>>739047090
He'll die screaming in a crash fire and steam will be sold to jews lol
>>
>>739042075
Well their subscription for lnline sure as hell didnt help them. Also GFWL was abhorrent

Stfu polnigger nobody cares about your non issues
>>739047496
As I recall he is mostly into other tech subjects, I believe there was some stuff about bionics, mainly eyes as they were seen as the easiest.
>>
>>739041749
As soon as the fat guy dies, whoever takes his place will make Steam a publicly traded company and that'll be the sign.
>>
don't even really care. the last 15 years have already made me lose interest.
>>
>>739042075
GFWL was fucking horrible and smothered alot of quality releases right out of the gate

PC gaming isn't going to die even without Valve.
Consoles only took off so massively compared to PC, because investment firms kept pumping money into consoles which kept them afloat and allowed them to push for studios to cannibalize the PC market, there was never any sustainability there and the whole thing would have burnt itself out eventually.
Console gaming has basically none of the momentum that it had in the 2000s that pushed PC out of the market, there is no serious DRM arms race anymore by coping companies trying to find someone to blame and Microsoft isn't pushing into the market with complete ass APIs anymore.
>>739042075
Microsoft will never put effort into providing product to a captive audience and they genuinely thought that people would have no other choice but to go through them.
>>
>>739041749
Does he even manage the company any more?
Him being the one and only puppeteer of the company sounds like an exaggerated meme.
>>
>>739041749
why does my shit get turned into pastas? I dread there must be some autistic wavelength people recognize or can measure so it gets picked up and used.

If the market was divided you would have to subscribe like game pass for EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, etc and you will have no bargain sales. Companies will sleep on titles till those games reach a target profit margin before producing the next one. In game advertisements would be a thing along with gambling that would make asian gacha blush
>>
>>739051326
>In game advertisements
This really is the sign of good things dying. Reminder that Cable TV was originally pitched as being entirely free of commercials. The same thing happened to Youtube, then streaming services, and games will be next. A decade from now, having ads shown to you during loading screens will be normalized.

I can see that... but you've also more or less included the reason for why this won't happen.
>EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, etc
The actual impact of these companies on the market is currently imploding.

I don't like what this industry produces anymore, so have fun.
