This game feels like it wants to be an MMO so badly, but it lacks any real freedom. Outside of buying businesses to make money, you're constantly hit with massive cooldowns designed to force you into other activities or compel you to help others make cash. There's always a 20 to 40-minute wait. While I get that they don't want the player base making an absolute assload of money, cars and aircraft are now hitting price tags near 4 to 9 million dollars. At the same time, buying those vehicles is just a flex because the Oppressor Mk II does half the work of any aircraft, boat, or car in seconds with zero issue.

The game feels like it was held together by bubblegum and rope, and it has only gotten worse. I don't understand why anyone still bothers playing it today. Half the jobs don't pay well, and Rockstar clearly doesn't want you spamming heists, so they limited them. The fastest ways to make money have been nerfed. Businesses that used to be great sources of income are now just as bad when it comes to the cooldowns required to turn a profit. Plus, you need to invest nearly 2.5 to 3 million GTA$ just to start one, only to turn around and have to buy the next.

To top it off, you still likely need friends to help you, but they have to worry about their own businesses. If you try to sell in a public lobby, it's highly likely some neckbeard freak is going to destroy your cargo. Now that they've finally allowed you to sell safely in invite-only lobbies, it has just turned making money into a boring, mindless slop of an activity.

TL;DR: The writer thinks Grand Theft Auto Online is badly designed and grindy — long cooldowns, overpriced vehicles, nerfed money-making methods, repetitive business management, and reliance on friends make progression frustrating. They also feel the game is technically outdated, unbalanced (especially because of the Oppressor Mk II), and that safe solo grinding has become boring while public lobbies are too toxic.
