For such an influential game, I really wish the part where you have a decent amount of freedom to roam wherever you want was copied in more JRPGs...
I mean, I guess it's ultimately a pretty linear game, but it certainly does well at giving the illusion of a semi-open world

3 had the whole party system 4 had the different chapters and 5 introduced monster catching and let you build a family

Some thing insane about DQ3's influence is that is fake as fuck.
Most JRPGs don't give a fuck about being your quest but instead be an interactive manga.
People seems to name it because technically it's that big, but it doesn't seems anybody has played it and said "we need more of this".
And we seriously need more games like DQ3, but new.
