The entire area surrounding the playable area is the dead zone biome that spawns leviathans the second you enter it.The game is very clearly unfinished. For examples, there are very jarring effects that immediately flick on when you step into the hot biome, causing the entire screen to suddenly become red. I was also bugged several times where my character's oxygen or health wouldn't deplete no matter what.
