Jim Henson ones are the replacements and IIRC are showcased in one of the Ninty museums. The OG puppets from the 90s were made by the studio that does the Godzilla suits for Toho, and those got thrown away because they were made out of latex which rots - see what happened to the Gremlin puppets RLM bought.
It's a shame they barely got to be recorded in anything but stills.

The character designs were actually a late april fools joke and we'll have the classic character designs in the final version of the game. Also Star Fox 64 is only the first campaign. The second campaign is all new levels and locations with a new storyline.
>>
>>739093454
No joke, if they just outright said that your wingmates' kills give you points just the same as your own kills, I would even pre-order the game. It's the number 1 biggest flaw with the game: If you keep your wingmates alive so they can help out, them taking your kills (such as the missiles in Sector Z) keeps points away from you and can even outright prevent you from earning a medal (again, as in Sector Z). If they just make it so that a wingmate killing, for example, a missile in Sector Z, gave you the same 11 points as you doing it yourself, then the wingmates would feel much more helpful and not actively aggravating; keeping them alive would feel far more rewarding because they would HELP you EARN points.

>>739095381
It looks like there's a cutscene for every level transition which might be kind of cool. I get the feeling that there's going to be a different save system and the challenge mode is making all levels available just from a menu. So the game's already losing a lot of its arcade flavor. In that context, I think cutscenes aren't a bad addition.

Yes. I think the biggest problem starfox has as far as wide appeal is actually making all range mode the exception and not the rule, but If you are going to try and make rail shooters a thing, you need to try something wildly different, as people have proven time and time again they arent interested. If the newest attempt is to make it a grungy space drama then I'm all in, because I want more starfox.

They talk in remake-ese. They are going to horribly overexplain things that were conveyed with only a short sentence in 64 because that's how this shit always happens. It's like in a Disney remake when they take a 70 minute movie and have to stretch it to 110 minutes.

And what's worse is, on top of the dialogue being stiff, the delivery is terrible. Everyone is doing stiff and dead sounding line reads which when combined with the taxidermy-like character designs just makes everything seem off and bad. The original dialogue was much snappier, and the deliveries were way more enthusiastic which is why they became so endearing.

Ultimately the cutscenes are going to all end up on Youtube anyway, so I don't see why this is being used as a huge selling point. It's not 1995, back when full motion video was a novelty you could sell a game on.

Also the new Peppy sounds like Pops from The Muppets. I just can't take him seriously.

>>
>>739098683

>>
>>739098560
It's Nintendo's fault for making the campaign gameplay for SF26 have nothing to offer that the Starship PC port of Star Fox 64 doesn't. I've been playing SF64 at 144hz in 1440p with enhanced graphics and models for a while now and its definitely in the realm of "good enough."
>>
>>739093454
the everything we've seen so far has been a joke and the real game will not look like this garbage.
>>
>>739093454
Wouldn't buy it day 1, I don't have enough reasons to buy a Switch 2, and I'm not fuckin' buying any electronic with a 2 hour battery life.
Also:
>reimagining
That's too strong of a word.

Anyway, options:
A: SF64 but with way more paths to take, with more characters and vehicles dotted throughout just to mix things up. Faye and Miyu get introduced officially. Katt is either changed back to being pink and feminine, or they double down on her redesign and give her a chainsmoking cougar voice (but keep her voice lines as-is).
B: An entire James prequel mode, new team, new map, a few gameplay tweaks, new characters, etc. Could also include some Andross backstory along the way too. Alternatively: a Star Wolf mode.
C: An actual campaign of some kind, even if they handle it like the World of Light thing from SSBU. Each node is a mission, you build a custom team as you go, unlock new shit, etc.
D: Maybe you unlock Star Fox 1 for beating the normal path, and unlock a full remake of SF2 for beating the hard path? Or the game just includes an SF2 remake as is?
E. Make it a $20-30 e-shop title?
The issue is that the game doesn't have enough content (that we know of) to justify a $50 price tag.
>>

It's not that rail shooters are disliked, it's that most people don't want a game that is only rail shooter. Assault had the right idea but I'm not a huge fan of everything they tried and Adventures was just too basic for a Zelda wannabe. What they should do is just expand on rail shooting like maybe a level where you're hired for the same mission as Wolf so you're both racing through the level, he has infinite health but hitting him slows him down and you have to take out enemies before he does for points then fight him and the boss, or a level where Krystal copilots and your weapons don't damage the enemy so her psychic powers make it so your shots instead form a barrier around the ship which you have to use to reflect enemy attacks meaning you're instead aiming to get hit but it has a cooldown and it's only a brief flash of barrier so you can't spam it, or a level where you have to pick apart a giant enemy so they try out a tether where you aim and shoot an energy rope and have to boost to pull ahead while dodging fire then when the tether is stretched you roll to dismember what it was attached to like an alligator death roll, tether could even be a main mechanic where you grab enemies and roll to fling them away or at others. You can do a lot of things but nintendo is only interested in shallow console gimmicks and telling the exact story over and over again.

Should instead have been that he was the first to develop warp tech, it sent him to hell and made him crazy as well as fusing him to his ship which caused him to change form when he appeared in real space and also he has such wonders to show the Fox team.

Optional dating sim in the Great Fox hub area between each level. Each route has a different combination of characters with some who are in multiple routes but slightly different stories for them, also it's with any character regardless of gender. After beating the game, Star Wolf members and Andross become available and it isn't explained in-depth but is instead treated by everyone like this is perfectly normal even though the antagonists still hate the heroes.

Hello everyone! Christine Weston Chandler coming to you live from home once again. You know who I'm talking about, those Nintendo fans who grew up with Nintendo during the '90s? I call 'em cubesnoys. Yeah, cubesnoys! These are the gaming terrororists who act like they're protecting some sacred shrine. They want to destroy the Nintendo Switch, tear it down, and bring this whole entire universe into chaos. It's like, come on! Calm down, y'all. Gaming moves on, people change, but these cubesnoys want nothing less than total mayhem and want to throw this entire universe into chaos. Insane, right?
>>
>>739093454
Nintendo shouldn't ever acknowledge it, but they should incrementally change the character designs with each trailer and piece of footage they release so fox and co. look better in the final product.
Mainly Fox needs to be thinner and have less of the "fox mcdonalds" look. Also a longer snout.
Falco needs his old silhouette. At least for his face. Idk if I care about the feet, but he does look cooler as a humanoid as opposed to the chicken legs.
Peppy is actually mostly ok. Just maybe less fat.
Slippy needs work on his eyes. In fact all of them need something with their eyes to make 'em look better. I think it's the perfectly white sclera that's offputting. Like they currently all have glass eyes.

On top of this, focus on making the game really colorful. The N64 game is kind of a psychedelic visual experience, so really try to re-create that experience in HD.

Star Fox 64 comes across, to me as an American, in its English dub, as really genki.
Very fresh, like these pilots are all very young hot shots.
It's not a grim war story like Halo or some American shooter, it's like the original 1977 Star Wars movie.

I don't really mind that the game is a remake, but very few remakes ever seem to capture the spirit of the original.
That's all I really would want, if it has to be a remake.

Since it's called "Star Fox" maybe it should serve as a platform for future adventures, so DLC could add new campaigns. The base game serving as a remake, but also serving as a platform to attach new content to.
Idk man. Best of luck

To a lesser degree I find Star Fox to be a very aesthetics driven game and I really hate the animal legs thing. It looks profoundly stupid.

>>
>>739095381
My initial fears are that they'll hurt the pacing and dilute the main cast. I don't see how Falco meandering around the Great Fox while talking about logistics is going to boost his appeal, for instance. We just don't need to waste time on this stuff. I'm also suspicious of that one scene we've seen where Fox is apparently having an argument with General Pepper, I swear if this game tries to reframe the story with shades of gray it's going to be fucking weird.

There is one area where Star Fox 64's story I'd like to see improved though, that being Star Wolf. Only Pigma is relevant, the rest of the team serves basically no purpose at all. But if they do decide to flesh out Star Wolf, I sincerely hope they don't do it by having similar cutscenes of them just standing around a table talking about how evil they are.
>>
>>739139256
Make no mistake. I loved the Jim Henson Star Fox puppets. I loved them when it happened and I thought it was gay that /v/ was trying to dunk on it. That said, Star Fox Zero wasn't really what I wanted from the franchise. And rebooting it AGAIN definitely isn't.
>>
>>739141420

>>739142919

>>
>>739142961
We already know there will be because Star Fox 64 already has that. Playing through every level and every route takes a lot more than a couple hours, plus more time to medal all the levels, plus even more time to complete expert and get all those medals. On top of all that, the new game has a challenge mode. You can easily get dozens of hours out of this game based on just what they announced in the direct.

Side story alt campaigns where you play as the other crewmates performing separate objectives during each stage, make them unlockables.

Some kind of bonus multiplier for more score potential.

Medals for completing the levels fast (boosting), and no damage.

If series reboot.
>aparoids are hinted post credits, setting up for Starfox Assault (No Krystal Edition)

>Multi-target charged shots with smaller splash zones, and Lock-on latency in the options menu
And what I mean by "Lock-on latency", is the ability to set how long it takes for a charged shot to lock into a target (0.5 sec, 1 sec, 1.5 secs, 2 secs, ect). This would drastically change how the game is played, increasing replayability, especially if you have multi-targeting charge shots.

Some kind of post-game rollover, like the achievements and hears in Kid Icarus Uprising; like all the money that you earn from a campaign gets added to a fund where you can buy unlockables and other stuff.

There being more to the multiplayer than what was shown would be nice, even something as minute as more vehicles. The N64 game let you use a Landmaster didn't it? In addition to the unlockable on-foot meme mode. It'll be disappointing if the remake's multiplayer is Arwing-only.
>>
>>739148939
>good ideas
Thanks. Here's some more.

An unlockable James McCloud survival mode, where you have to survive waves of enemies. Your score and Wave # are catalogued on a global Hi-Score ranking. Special dialogue exchange is locked behind completing every 10 waves. Enemy AI increases in difficulty every 5 waves until they are chasing you almost constantly and matching your U-turns and somersaults.

Alternate nova bombs that launch a volley of 5 missiles that act as mini charge shots, and give combo credit.

Advanced combo maneuvers, like braking after doing a somersault will flip the Arwing in place (Basically a faster/shorter U-turn), or boosting after a U-turn will perform a boosted U-turn instead of a regular one.
>>
>>739150459
so basically the gas station raid mode from RE2R and the cluster missiles from Dread. wud b cool. The last idea is my favorite though, iterating on movement and building on the fact the game controls like butter would be really nice.

I don't get how people miss the gaudy Melee graphics. These modells could not exist outside the 6th gen graphics trends.

Why did I read this in the voice of female argonian from Oblivion?

Don't make their feet so small. It looks weird as fuck.

Do you think they'll let Star Wolf keep their injuries? Leon loses half his face, and looks like Pigma and Andrew both lose their eyes and Wolf gets off with just a few cuts

-properly introduce miyu and fay. establish their personalities. also algy the monkey from 2 and the panther to wolfs team to balance.
-proper 4 player coop
-restore content removed from the original game- a 3rd path into venom, the hardest fight with andross on foot, the lost levels and the great fox stages
-prequel james arc with a more believable pigma. they arent that stupid to hire a character that looks like hes gonna IMMEDIATELY betray you
-set up to a proper sequel. a 64 version of star fox 2.

They could also just be goggles and glasses.

Fix the models, trim the script heavily, add more quality content.
That's what I'm sick of with remakes. They either add shit that makes no sense or stick to the original to a fault.
A remake should be a better version not a clone. Nigger cattle eat the shit anyways
