If you have FF in the title, you basically are subject to those expectations.And buildfaggotry is the least important thing as a metric for game quality, sure it's cool, but encounter designs and variety of mechanics is more important for me in a JRPG (along with all the expected qualities of an FF game)

Anything with a pile bunker is god tier by default. Like it is actually impossible for someone to not be cool when that's their main weapon.

His facial expression is clearly "Someone fucking pissed in my coffee" He has chains and two sharp, jagged, overly large blades. He is covered in scars. You can clearly tell he falls into the "too angry to die" category without there being too much to distract from the basic idea behind the character. Your example is overdesigned and difficult to tell what is going on. There is no way I can place that character into any category aside from overdrawn, needlessly complex anime character #45. >>739094353 This anon shows it off fairly well. The facial expression is "determined" - the same expression on every JRPG character ever. Let me guess, this chararacter mentions never giving up and friendship? As a piece of artwork, it is fun to look at. As a videogame character design where things need to be easy to recognize at a glance, it fails miserably.
