if you care about Sega/Atlus games for some reason they created a Survey for people to scream at them, if you want to complain about the localizers go do it: https://cpn.sega-account.com/survey/8/title/basic?p=x
>>739094954Persona can suck my nuts. EO6 when?
>>739094954>Have to make yet another account I'll never use>Wants my real name because of course it does. I hate modern technology.
>>739094954Release the FeMC DLC you cowards!
>Survey about translation>Targeting people who have only played the translation and don't know the content of the originalwhat is the point of this
>>739096409so (you) the person that knows the original script can tell them
What was changed for the remaster again for the sake of political correctness?
>>739097408They changed the tranny to be a conspiracy nut. If they were going to censor it, they should have just made it Kashiwagi like the movies and then nobody would have cared.
>>739097217Yeah but I didn't play the localization so I don't know how it got translated
>>739097564P3R was largely kept in line except for random shit like this >>739097524There really wasn’t much to censor beyond that.I can guarantee though that P4R is going to be fucking butchered by activist localizers.
>>739097631That wasn't added in the localization, she's a conspiracy nut in the Japanese version too. It's just a change they made for Reload.
>>739097698That was a coordinated change with Atlus West. They are working hand and hand with the activist localizers when writing the new scripts.
>>739097750It's not a localization change though, and you have no proof of that. That line gets scrutiny even in Japan anon.
>>739097863Still not buying the new P4R that was written for “modern audiences,” shill.
>>739097909Fair enough. I doubt that anything will be changed though. There's nothing transphobic in P4, so I doubt they'll change much. People are delusional if they think Naoto and Kanji's stories are going to be rewritten, Japanese audience wouldn't accept that. They might smooth over lines in the localization, I dunno, but I'll be playing in Japanese anyway.
>>739098049>>739097524nobody likes you troon faggots. go back to plebbit
>>739098049>I doubt that anything will be changed though. You are a faggot liar.
>>739099115Is this really the worst example you can find? 女の勘 is a stock phrase that gets used colloquially all the time, translating that as psychic, a phrase that gets similar usage isn't "woke". If you really think that Junpei specifically saying she was a woman is the important part of that line, you're insane my dude. And like, THIS is the first example you give of bad localization from the game? THIS is the worst you could find? Man, I hate shit translations too, but holy fuck you people are just embarrassing.
>>739094954Fuck shitsona. More smt and eo
>>739102385>Is this really the worst exampleNo one is falling for your gaslight tranny. Don't pretend you didn't fill this game with your trannylation.>I hate shit translations tooThen why do you strongly defend it?>woman is the important part of that lineYes tranny, "woman" is an important part of the phrase "woman's intuition". You wouldn't know cuz you will never be a woman.
>>739102916it's worth noting Junpei's dialogue is being written in katakana here, suggesting he's not knowledgeable about the phrase, asking about something he isn't familiar with. That works given the sort of phrase here, but translated to English you can't really retain that. The translators likely opted to represent Junpei's airhead personality and figured it is more in character for him to ask if she's psychic instead. In Japanese, "woman's intuition" is a relatively simple word, but in English it's harder to believe that if your goal is to make Junpei sound dumb, he'd say that. I highly doubt that they changed it because they're worried about it seeming misogynistic; Junpei suggests trying to peep on the girls, and I doubt they changed that (if they did that's another story). Not to mention this game has bikini armor outfits for the girls, and I know they weren't removed.I'm not "strongly defending" it, but I am saying it's barely a drop in the well in the context of the game. This is an incredibly insignificant line in an incredibly insignificant scene, the idea that even if the translation were drastically changed this would have any semblance of an impact on the game is genuine delusion. If there are actually examples of larger changes, I'd be more than happy to see them. But if this is the absolute worst example you were able to find, then I think it means there really isn't much to work with. You're being a fucking moron, genuinely consider getting help if this line about a psychic is convincing you that there's a secret woke localization agenda trying to ruin your game.
>
Someone post the white skin censored dialogue and also mention the censored tranny joke
>>739103652>the censored tranny joke>>739097698
>>739103325>I'm not "strongly defending" it, but I am saying it's barely a drop in the well in the context of the game.nta, but the fact that you had to write all these mental gymnastics to justify not translating a simple line as is shows two things:1. the person translating it thought it was a big deal, and went through the same mental gymnastics you did to justify changing it2. you are strongly defending it.
>>739103828I'm just explaining to a moron like you who gets mad at localization but doesn't speak Japanese that language is not binary. Nothing in Japanese is 1:1 in meaning with English, everything has nuances and depth to it. You can't rock up with a screenshot of the Japanese line and put English text on it, saying that text captures every essence of the Japanese and therefore the translation is wrong. That isn't how language works. オンナのカン, written in katakana like that carries nuances that simply writing 女の勘 doesn't. The decision to not just ignore that and write the literal meaning, but to find something that replicates the tone and character being expressed in the original line is perfectly reasonable here. It's a translation decision that anyone who has a working brain and can read Japanese would understand why they made it. But you're just a dipshit armchair translator who probably knows fuck-all Japanese. Now go and find me a picture of an actual change. If you've got actual proof the translation is messing with stuff, I'd be happy to see it. If this is all you've got, I highly advise not showing anyone else, because you'd be a laughing stock.
>>739104084And here comes your average N5 warrior. No actual point to make, just desperately flexing that they can read kana and like 12 kanji on the internetOne whole paragraph and somehow still absolutely nothing to say
>>739105690I got N1 last year buddy, I don't need to whine like you here because I actually just play the games in Japanese. If you're so buttmad about the translation, learn Japanese you fucking loser. You'll quickly learn that you were wrong.
>>739104084Let's get this straight: The text straight up says "woman's intuition", The japanese voice actor says "woman's intution".But,because it's written in, I presume, the simpler alphabet the translation needs to change the EXPLICIT text in order to reflect that character is a "dumbass"? Literally no one wants that. How is "psychic" even any dumber?Does he speak in katakana all the time? Do they change all his lines to sound like simple jack or is it only several convenient lines? This is exactly why everyone hates the failed writer trannylators, inventing issues that don't exist. Can't wait for AI to take all their jobs.
>>739105942It's not all his dialogue, it's the "woman's intuition" (or that's how you are choosing to translate it) part specifically that is written in katakana. Normally you'd write it in kanji, but in Junpei's case they're representing him being a dumbass. When translating you always take into account meaning, register, and nuance. If you just feed a line through google translate you'll only get one of those. But Japanese is a language with endless subtleties, there's at least 100 different ways to write any sentence while keeping the vocabulary the same, and all of them have different implications; there are flags for familiarity, proximity, hierarchy, intelligence, age, gender, social standing, area of origin, etc. If you run those 100 lines through Google Translate you'll end up with the exact same result for every single one, because it only translates the on the letter meaning. It's hard to conceive if you're monolingual, since English is a vocabulary based language. In English to express character we typically change the actual words used, since there's a lot of duplicate words in English with the same meaning but different implications in terms of register, etc. Japanese doesn't work like this, there's rarely multiple words for the same thing, so to express character, rather than change the vocabulary being used, writers change the register of speech, the way words are written, the honorifics and personal pronouns being used, the way the sentences end, the way that particles are or aren't used, and so forth. There's a ton of nuance buried in a single line in Japanese, but when you just stick it through a machine translator you get one surface level interpretation of that, and that machine translator doesn't have the context of the rest of the game, the speech patterns for that character, etc. So, since English is a vocabulary based language, when translating from Japanese, to keep the layers of nuance in register, you need to change the vocabulary.
>>739095602You can just lie, anon.
>>739107153wow. not only is this the wrong thread it's also the wrong website, mb.
>>739106441You failed to explain how "psychic" is supposed to be the dumber version of "woman's intuition". These are two completely unrelated things. I legit don't understand.Rest of your post is shit everyone already knows. FYI I'm not monolingual, I'm a dirty ESL and I've seen my own language butchered in the translation to english plenty of times but usually it's just removing a bit of nuance and simplifying sentences that would hard to translate directly, not straight up just switching up words for the sake of it, that seems reserved for japanese shit for some reason.
>>739094954I don't comply.I just don't buy.Simple as.
>>739096409translation in my country was so dogshit i switched to english after first month, at least i could tell them to not use early llm translation tools next time
