Games weren't meant to be played on a fucking keyboard. Get mad about that all you want, but it's true. Movement using a keyboard is actual dog shit. Mouse aiming is amazing though.
>>
>>739095305
TRVTHNVKE, the only genres where m+kb is superior are FPS, RTS and point and clicks. Everything else feels wrong and soulless

>games made to be played on a controller
>try to play them with a keyboard
>they don't feel good to play for some reason
Just get a shitty Logitech controller or something, they're on Amazon for like 20 smackers.
>>
>>739095181
unless the game has mouse injection you are basically simulating teh stick movement with the mouse it suck ass

flightsticks are optimal for those you can one arm them it feels great
>>
>>739097192
I got a snes stick for cheap but it's laggy, what with being cheap, still worked for turn-based ps2 games. I'm thinking if it works, you can do with a keyboard. Flightsticks are weird when it comes to tactical games. Moving from a tile to another...with a stick? That stuff's for fighting games. sm.h.
>>
>>739095305
This is true. If you look back, something like Pong wasn't designed for a keyboard but a dedicated controller.

True.

With WASD you can have three fingers to cover all keys, that's 75% cover, approaching full dexterity. With a D-pad on a controller you have 1 thumb covering 4 potential directions. You can't press left and right together on a D-pad like you can with WASD. Not only because your thumb can't cover that ground, but because the plastic itself can only move in one intercardinal direction. If anything a controller should have the directional keys on the back so your fingers can actually reach them.

Somehow this was less impressive to me than the water in Ico.

Ico's water simulation is running on like 32MB of RAM. I expect water simulations to be good now since they're running on a $2000 GPU 25 years later.

Fighting games feel closer to an arcade setup/fightstick than a controller does.
Pointing this out makes gamepadfags very mad for some reason and I don't know why.
>>
>>739104643
It's not padfags that get angry, it's fightstickfags.
They paid a bunch of money for something that is functionally no different than a keyboard for the task while generating twice the noise.

People who shit on kbm are lazyfag who never tried different different controller and control style
They also hate the idea of manual keybind and make custom controls

cd still looks great though and I really like the level of simulation they chose to go for

I had this opposite of this happen recently.

I bought a new controller, launched War Thunder and it asked me if I want to bind the keys to it.
I've been playing War Thunder since it came out 12 or 13 years ago but never bother to try it with a controller, so I exported my current keyboard config and then just let it auto configure to controller and holy fuck, how do people play tanks with a controller, it sucks so bad.
There is a console version of war thunder right? PS5, the controller gameplay is awful do console players really play like this.

Platformers are objectively better on a keyboard.
>>
The only game I actually played on PCSX2 was Dark Cloud and I was pleasantly surprised with how well an analog stick maps to mouse movements.

>>
>>739104643
Because the usual argument padniggers use is that a stick is less accessible.
A keyboard nullifies that and gives the pad no reason to be there.
>>
>>739095181
That's just you being retarded.
I emulated almost every game from 2000-2015 and never had a problem with controls. WASD + numpad for camera was enough for everything even flight sims. it was to the point that I preferred using keyboard than gamepad while playing AC7.
Analog precision controls that require more than the 8 general directions only really became a necessity around 2020. And even then, it's very rarely an issue because every game that uses a gamepad has autoaim anyway.

>>
I'm mostly upset that I want to play the Socom games but they had pressure sensitive controls. I know there's modifiers but these games take up just about every button unless it slipped my mind.
>>
>>739095181
You make key binds before trying them out? What kind of retard are you.
>>
I would tell you that you games are for controllers, but skill issue the kb is totally good.
>>
>>739111215
M&KB controls suffer a lot when game is designed around the controller.
>hold x to do something
>nested menu system and garbage UI in general
>press button y while holding another button to do z
>multiple actions hard coded to certain button
It feels like some devs haven't improved their PC port practices since PS2.
>>
>>739095181
Go to https://gamepadla.com/?fo=1 and find something in your budget. Try to get Hall or better yet TMR sticks if you can since they won't develop drift in your lifetime.
>>
>>739103661
steal a controller then
