Serious talk: Overwatch has a massive flaw with their character design philosophy. For example:

Scout excels at flanking and assassination, but he can also function as the team's main dealer and a bodyguard if pocketed by a medic

Tracer might seem similar on the surface, but she's a flanker and cannot do anything beyond harrassing. Not only that she's hard countered by Brigitte.

So you can see the problem here: OW is like a MOBA, with a clear rock scissors paper meta, and you are only forced to play as the way devs intend you to play the game

TF2 is more freeform, and all classes are valuable, even Spy

Thus OW is bloated and requires constant updates, and cannot ever be a beloved classic like Team Fortress 2
>>
OW is only played by trannies and women
>>

tf2 has better custom content system, that's all.
>>
TF2 will never be as big as overwatch
>>
>>739098129
>why
because it's about the game not the whores
>>
wrong. tf2 is fun because there's like 12 guys per team which is mathematically twice as fun (or four times as fun by some metrics) as 6 guys per team

Am I the only one who can't stand playing Spy even for a minute? I played every other class quite a bit but Spy just sucks

it's just such a different game and you have to be in a different frame of mind than basically every other class
spy is far and away my least played and i've never fully gotten into it, but sometimes if i've played like 100 hours in the past 2 weeks and want a really different experience, spy is there, like playing a whole different game. and even then, a lot of the time i'm just meme'ing as gunspy, because revolvers are cool and i suck at managing disguises and shit. kind of need custom binds for that.
>>
>>739099384
you havent master him yet. stick to playing scout or gunboats soldier to flank
>>
>>739098993
That and there is actual resource management. Soldier and Demoman have to reload one shot at a time. Pharah and Trash Bandicoot just immediately jam their gun full of explosives in a second and can immediately fire off another volley. Also finite ammo in general if a soldier uses all 20 of his shots(I remember when they had 40) he's out unless he picks up some or retreats to restock. It is not an infinite ammo slugfest.
All durability is also fairly passive. Soldier and Heavy are more durable because they have more HP and are fairly wide and can be proportionately more overhealed, rather than having separate health and armor which makes them arbitrarily more resistant to damage. Also little to no "shield" mechanics so damage is damage not a math game about whether the attacker gets dead or the shield man runs out of shield/heals first.
TF2 would be fucking miserable if everybody had infinite ammo and the power classes could reload basically instantly.

Also in general that it still favors alpha damage classes so heavily while Overwatch nerfed McCree and Pharah pretty early on and made the game favor low rapidfire damage characters until it got so bad the meta was at one point infamously 3 tanks/3 healers.

The closest things to momentum stoppers/breakthrough elements are the sentry and the ubercharge which can also be easily trivialized while there's very little longterm personal penalty for somebody playing like a retard in Overwatch outside of waiting to respawn. Your ultimate meter in Overwatch is always there. If a medic dies and loses their uber or the engineer's buildings are eliminated that means their entire team has to scramble for losing their strongest offensive/defense measure and can make or break a team's momentum. And indeed the secondary passive goal of everybody trying to kill the medics/destroy the sentry and teleporter.

It's basically a bunch of compounding design decisions with wide reaching consequences.

OW noob here what heroes should I play as

I liked Tracer and Hanzo

Most played classes in TF2 are Pyro, Engi, Scout, Soldier in that order
>>
>>739098129
Skill issue. If you aren’t leading the lobby as tracer in damage and kills, you stink on ice.
>>
>>739100851
I watched some youtube videos and Dive sounds like the most fun meta to play as why did Blizzard nerf all of the characters in that comp?

All I know is that when I played TF2 it was a comfy experience, on the other hand every OW player I have ever met is a colossal fucking faggot who hates fun.
>>
Scout is one of the easier noob classes when you think about it

Tbf besides Spy none of them are hard to get into
>>
Does anyone still play TF2? Besides, in TF2 you also have to grind 1000s of hours just to get decent weapons right?
>>
>>739098129
TF2 is superior because you're actually allowed to have fun and take it easy
>>
>>739102383
No if you spend like a dollar random cosmetics game drops a weapon per every hour played and common weapons are all the same price so you can just trade them for stuff you want

I've played a bunch of TF2 in the past. I loved it and still do.
But I am hooked on OW now. Mostly because of their supports.

I love the mercs but there's just nothing like Lucio or Juno in TF2.
And I genuinely prefer Mercy over Medic.

Another anon mentioned about resource management but I never considered that to be fun. But then again, I was never a comp player anyway.

I do prefer 12x12 players though. I think it would be amazing if OW had an arcade mode that played like that.

bluntly false
she can be a mosquito type nuisance who's more intent on distracting and splitting the focus of the enemy team rather than killing anyone
she can be an assassin who tries to sneak kills on supports
she can be a duelist who challenges the enemy dps and keeps them off her team's backline
you're just dumb

>all classes are valuable
I've played the game years ago mind you but I disagree. All classes are valuable but sniper. 5 scouts on your team don't make you lose the game. Neither does 5 heavies, demos, pyros, spies etc. 5 snipers? GG you're not winning.
>>
One thing I've noticed is that Overwatch players outside reddit have a burning hatred of healers

easy fix, add weapons to overwatch. it would instantly become thousand of times deeper.

Because support mains in hero shooters are massive bitches despite playing the easiest and most catered to role in the genre. Like it's not even that uncommon for other roles to play support and quickly end up higher ranked than their main. The opposite is not remotely true. I have literally seen them whine about having to turn around to heal an injured teammate behind cover instead of them running in front of them and risking dying. It's a perfect blend of game design that makes them think they're hot shit, sacrificing for the team because nobody else wants to play that boring ass role, and also that they're better than their team because they just sit back and watch everybody else try to make plays. Everybody hates them because they're typically the first to start whining despite having the easiest job and everybody else also needs them to have two functioning braincells to get anything done and not instantly lose. Blizzard has done untold harm to the genre by forcing the holy trinity into an FPS game.

I haven't even played hero shooters all that much, especially without my friends to fill roles, and I've still developed that burning hate.

Don't tell modern TF2 players that or they'll have a mental breakdown.

Spy is less about getting kills and more about inserting chaos into your enemy's tactics. You want to force them to waste time and focus with constant spy-checking. Sometimes you want to assassinate key pieces on the board, namely the medics and snipers. In order to blend in, you've got to act like whoever you're disguising as. Disguising as scout is usually a bad idea as your lack of speed sticks out like a sore thumb. If you disguise as medic, you'll want to pull out your medigun (switch weapons to sapper and reapply the disguise to change the disguises weapon)
I usually watch a few Stabby videos to get myself back in the mood to play Spy

Genuinely think Spy's best strat would be just not playing Spy most of the match and then boom two spies then go back to other classes
>>
>>739102503
I don't think supports from Overwatch would work at all in TF2, but I agree that they're a ton of fun to play and I kind of wish there were bettier supportive options in tf2. You can kind of get a shitty version of Lucio, Ana, Zen, Juno depending on your loadout (conc banner, crusaders crossbow, full jarate) but it's not the same and it feels lacking.
>>
>>739098129
all wrong, it's because TF2 has balloon race and mario kart
