What's the better game, Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne, or Demon Souls?

Bloodborne is still my favorite. Hoping they one day put out a spiritual successor that surpasses it.

Demon's Souls is unique and original based on that alone it's better than the other two that are blatant rehashes. Demon's Souls is also so austere and intentional which is something that hasn't been replicated since.

>unique and original
>everything lifted from king's field

Between those 3, Bloodborne is better but just because it came after. Demon's Souls if played today, after having played the more modern Souls games will feel like a joke. However if we take into consideration these titles in their release dates i think that Demon's Souls is the GOAT. It basically spawned the Soulslike genre, and it also has a very troubled story of development, that game really was lightning in a bottle.
>>
>>739098704
Just because they are both fantasy RPGs it doesn't make them identical.
>>
Demons, then Bloodborne. Both of those are consistently good. Dark shits the bed in the second half.

It's designed to be a much more aggressive game than either of those. Also has a completely different setting.

Both of them are a hot mess, but at the same time really ambitious that makes me respect them.
>>739099238
No, it's just Demon's Souls 4 which is egregious given the fact that Bloodborne is supposed to be a new IP. It has "not the Maiden in Black," "not the Nexus," "not Valley of Defilement," the bonfire system from Dark Souls a.k.a. Demon's Souls 2 with all the items renamed with blood themed words. Only difference is that it has the Demon's Souls combat system stripped down to its bear essentials thus getting rid of build variety.

Can someone explain the DaS DLC to me? I know that you travel in the past to fight Artorias, but then how do you end up in the cell in the beginning of the base game?
Wouldn't you be renowned for killing Manus and Artorias? And who kills Artorias if you werent to do the DLC?

>I know that you travel in the past to fight Artorias, but then how do you end up in the cell in the beginning of the base game?
Time is convoluted.
>>
>>739102601
But Artorias killed Manus, everyone knows that.
And how could a dirty undead have killed Artorias? Let alone BEFORE he killed Manus. Crazy talk. Off to the Asylum.
>>
Demon's Souls didn't do much for me, and I'm still not entirely sure why. It seems like the sort of game I would enjoy, but I always ended up wishing I was playing something else instead. I think the lacking exploration might have been the primary issue, since the combat and some of the environments being visually interesting wasn't enough to carry it for me.

I never played Dark Souls, because it looked like more of the same. Bloodborne was fun, though.
>>
Finishing DS1 I might say bloodborne, but its kind of unfair, because I returned to finish DS1 basically right after the Lord Vessel, so the levels I'm currently experiencing are basically the lesser levels the game has to offer, which are still really good, but painted world and new londo so far have felt kind of short and stimulating enough, but no where near as complicated as New Yharnam and whatever the Forest levels name was. Also find it funny that it was the DS1 forest level that made me take a break from it, because it just cemented that since Anor Londo (where the level design takes a dive and just becomes a combat gauntlet, no navigational test) O hadn't been enjoying the levels. And Bloodbornes forest level mogs that one so hard its crazy, its ironic because the reason it mogs it, is because its a lot more tight and claustrophobic in Bloodborn compared to DS1, which is exactly the strength of souls games, narrow pathways and dead ends create for more interesting encounters, but also theres a concept about navigation ive been relearning, but still dont quite have the language to communicate.

The forest level in Dark souls per my memory is very open and random, it maintains that sense of "you have no idea where youre going" but doesnt evoke the same sense of "I know every twist and turn and dead end, and connection" that Painted World does. I hate mazes in games so I don't want to say that Dark Souls levels are mazes, otherwise Id hate them. But I now think those dead ends are utterly important for simultaneously making a level seem bigger and more complicated than it actually is, even though all the levels are linear, but also for burning in your mind a right and wrong way, that simple fact makes it meaningful to remember every little dead and and turn and which ones lead to a goal, and which ones are just a part of a world not made simply for you.
>>
The problem is this intuitively doesnt make sense. Dead ends stick out in my mind for blood borne and DS1 more, but dont for DS2, DS3, and Elden ring...but can that really be true? On its face that sounds absurd. Do those games not have dead ends? I'm not replaying any of them to find out because I genuinely hate all 3 of those games, so it must be more than dead ends, I have an idea of what, but im unconfident even in that particularly because DS2 still remains the closest of all 3 to DS1, and I simultaneously hate it the most (tied with ds3 desu) but respect it the most out of the 3

Blood Borne
>>
>>739098704
demon's souls lifted everything from shadow tower. it's dark souls that's pretty much a retread of king's field 4.
>>
>>739102601
>how do you end up in the cell in the beginning of the base game
You still have to link or refuse to link the first flame to beat the game. You don't remain in the past. The reason why you return to your cell after beating the game is intentionally left unexplained, though. It's likely diegetic, given that you keep all your gear. It makes sense thematically, given that the world of DS is built on recurring cycles of linking the flame, but how the world returns to its prior state (particularly if you end up doing the Dark Lord ending) is again left unexplained.
>Wouldn't you be renowned for killing Manus and Artorias?
Dusk, the only person around to witness you killing Manus, was comatose. She believes Artorias saved her, so she spreads that story around. She later hints that she knows it was you who saved her, but seeing as you're some jerkoff undead time traveller, she goes with the more believable and flattering story of Artorias, one of Gwyn's knights, sacrificing himself to seal the abyss.
>And who kills Artorias if you werent to do the DLC?
The Chosen Undead killing Manus is a closed causal loop. It's impossible for it not to have happened. Whatever the Chosen Undead does in the past is always a part of history, and you can't contradict the events that led to your time travel, your existence, or your journey (say, by not killing Manus and dooming the rest of Anor Londo, or by not saving Sif and letting him die). In a sense, every playthrough that doesn't save Sif and kill Manus is impossible, unless you want to believe Sif gets out of the abyss by himself and somebody else defeats Manus. Look up the Novikov self-consistency principle.

For me its:
Dark Souls 1 > Bloodborne > Demon's Souls

All three games are in my top ten favorite games ever with Dark Souls 1 being my favorite, Bloodborne is my 5th favorite, and Demon's Souls 10th favorite respectively.

Of course, it does. Novelty is a positive trait. Intentionality goes a long way in immersing you. Being small scale and less bloated means the game can maintain a consistent quality.

Bloodborne > Elden ring > Dark souls > Sekiro > Dark souls 3 > Demon's souls = Dark souls 2

bloodborne is the best from beginning to end
demon's souls is the most unique
dark souls is the most memorable

dark souls because you can actually use the online still. if you play DeS offline you wont get the hype at all
>>
dark souls 1 for sure. invented a whole genre/made it popular basically and was the most ambitious imo. before that barely and games had r1 attack l1 block controller layout. one could say demons did it first but demons at release was sooooo niche (and not well designed imo in terms of levels/map) while almost everyone i knew tried dark souls 1.

>>739098243
Dark Souls 2, anyone who says otherwise is from reddit.
