Consolefags are unfortunately retarded and their games always pander to the lowest common denominator - this was less universal before 2005 but still applicable to some at the time, now it's 100% undisputable fact.2. Designing games for consoles limits you to a very low amount of options for inputs/buttons and this, also being completely factual, means that the game will be gimped, extremely boring and repeatable to anyone with IQ >100. This is sadly still true even with the haptic pads and other things that Steam has introduced.So if you've ever asked yourself, why is gaming so shit and pandering to the lowest common denominator and everything went so wrong after 2005 that we've completely abandoned standards - the answer is consoles. It's fast, precise, and on a desk surface it provides a lot of stability and locks you to two axes. So even though it wasn't designed with the intent of simulating shooting things, its still doing what it was designed to do in that situation.Keyboards had the intent of typing. They excel at having the most input switches that humans will tolerate and not be fatiguing to use. A layout conceptual to games and what they need is non existent. Buttons close together and potential or misinputs are necessary to its purpose. You can't roll inputs like a gamepad and instead you just use more fingers. Ergonomically you can grip a controller and stabilize your hands for more precise timing when pressing buttons with your thumbs. Keyboards have no consideration of how you will press buttons at the correct time and can't provide the same stability because even resting hands on a desk keeps your wrists free to twist so you can reach all the keys. They keyboard is good at holding any combination of input at the same time even though that was irrelevant for typing. But like how shift, alt, ctrl are all that's necessary for typing, so are shoulder buttons or pressing two face buttons with your thumb at once. We don't really need to explore pressing left and right or up and down at the same time even if there are novel uses for it.
The only FPS games that don't feel like shit on a controller are shit FPS games. Gyro changes nothing because it's less about aiming and more about movement/arsenal. Weapon wheels are slow gay ass for bitches.Agree for most other genres.

A good PC back then would probably be around $3000 and last you 6 to 10 years or so.Today? You have to spend even more for GPU's, even more for CPU's and even more for storage for that kind of value. Not only that, but graphics have not been making any large leaps in quality while the games themselves are becoming very bloated and optimized.
