randomness adds more fun.
>>
I started playing TF2 in like 2009 and stopped playing in 2011.
I know I know, newfag who missed the golden age.
But at the time TF2 was the casual game you boot up if you just want some mindless fun.
Mindless not in the sense of "do whatever the fuck you want and screw my team", but mindless in the sense of "win or lose, had fun".

At what point did TF2 become this super serious business game for the community?
>>
This stopped being a problem when they added the nocrit server setting in 2008
>>
>>739123274
It has been refutes a million times
>>
If he or any youtuber were right at all about the shit they said it wouldn't have been a ten year campaign desperately trying to convince people they had a legitmate grievance crying that the game cheated.
Same with the quickplay fags that say Valve is "stealing" players from their servers and not that they're annoying faggots that people don't like.
>>
The only people who don't like random crits are those who take TF2 too seriously.
If you have a bind which apologies for getting a random crit or one which malds when you get hit by a random crit I do not value your opinion.

Go play a Dane server.

He doesn't deserve credit for it, but it's funny he blew up all the bargaining chips they had because he could help but be a fag about exclusive access to a SMNC spiritual successor.
>>
Removing random crits is retarded, what you do is remove the shit that makes random crits less random because one thing about random crits is that they become slightly more common the more damage you've done previously, this is why Demo's skullcutter starts doing incredible amounts of critical hits to the point you get like 60% chance to crit shit.
If crits were TRULY random and could not be manipulated by any means (especially including crit hacks) then random crits would not feel godawful and would actually be stalemate breakers instead of shit that allows the winning team to win more.
But hey, i get it, people wanna pretend they're competitors so they want the game to be "fair", might as well pretend niggas got integrity and take effortless shortcuts.
>>
>>739129248
>>739129829
That stays and if they ever decide to fuck with the game again they should put damage spread back on as a default server setting.

>>
>>739123274
You know what pisses me off? It’s the fact that Fish On A Stick’s video essay on this and claiming that Pokemon does randomness better than TF2. When it’s literally the exact fucking opposite.
TF2 has respawns and there are tons of scenarios where it doesn’t matter.
If you get killed by a crit, the worst that happens is you get sent to spawn for a few seconds, often less if you’re on a no respawn timer server. And even if you did die, it rarely ever matters, even in individual combat scenarios. The skirmish you were just in could have easily seen you lose anyways. Even more rare is when a random crit manages to win an entire game, where it’d be literally impossible otherwise to win.
Then you have Pokemon, which is the worst fucking case of RNG. I can just say “Unfortunate” and several people already know what I’m talking.
If your Pokemon gets randomly critted, the BEST case is you lose 1/6th or 1/4th or 1/3rd of your entire party permanently. Often times you lose on the spot to a 1/24 chance.
And because the game is turned based, the vast majority of crits matter for individual interactions. The worst part is that these volatile RNG mechanics are universally the most despised mechanics in the game.
Random crits in TF2 don’t really add anything and is slightly annoying, but ultimately shit isn’t a big deal. It would have been if TF2 was closer to Counter Strike and had perma death or if every inch mattered as Uncle Dane or FoaS claim it is.
post it, you know what I’m talking about
>>
>>739132509
All discussion about medic unlocks is circular logic because the ubersaw is just that badly designed that we have to ignore it exists but i agree the vita saw needs a buff.
>>
>>739132236
This isn't a fighting game retard, you can't always avoid being hit. Without random crits, you can dramatically improve your odds by calculating risk, but with random ctits, ANY attack can kill you, making nuanced strategy pointless, and guilding you back to the most dominang playstyles of just shitting out as many hitboxes as possible
>>
>>739132632
Correct, actual comp players would tell you random crits is just a pubs thing and if you don't like them, stick to comm servers.
>>
>>739132632
If they were satisfied with being able to run their own servers, it wouldn't be a decade later with them whining that people should be forced to play with their ruleset on their servers.
>>
>>739132664
Fish legitimately has some of the worst takes in tf2
>>
>>739132781
Ubersaw is fun and overpowered in a healthy way. Solemn Vow is really good and doesnt bait you into being retarded.
Amputator needs to not reset its health regen every time you swap weapons. Bonesaw is sad.
Crossbow is the greatest primary and all syringe guns should passively reload before we have further discussions on how the syringes could be improved instead of nerfing the bow
Vaccinator is aids. Quick fix is bad and lost some of its identity when scout speed mirroring was made universal.
>>

>>
>>739131145
>vita saw is balanced
It’s arguably the single worst weapon in the game. You lose 10 HP on the class who is most vital to surviving, just for an upside that is only an upside under extremely specific conditions. You need to have 1 to 4 organs (which btw use the head mechanic of the eyelander so if a Demo, Soldier, or Sniper kill you with their killstreak weapons, you’re feeding them extra heads), enough Uber to respawn with, to die, SPECIFICALLY in a scenario where you’d also die without the health penalty, respawn, and while heading back to the frontline while avoiding death, change your Uber to 100%, and use your Uber before the amount of time it’d take to fill it back up again normally.
Also the Ubersaw exists.
