>Aliens all look the same and have one singular culture.
I hate this one but lets not kid ourselves 99% of writers incapable of writing different cultures for alien races either due to laziness or lack of creativity. You'll always have the unga-warrior race (Krogan, Orks, Mandalorians), the pretty race or utopian ones (Asari, Twileks, Draenei), the super scientific race who are sociopaths and ignore all moral ethics (Salarians) and the militarisitc, disciplined races like Turians and Vulcans.
>Planets are a singular biome with zero diverse environments, vegetation or animals
This one annoys me but its possible for planets to just be one biome if we go by our own solar system.

>money is called “credits”
This one PISSES me off holy shit. There are so many different official and slang names for currencies. It’s such an easy way to flesh out a setting in a natural way and so many sci fi games just use credits. Lazy and uninspired.
>>
>>739138528
They were already tropes in the golden age of sci-fi. I think it was Doc Smith that coined "credits". Heinlein always called them Terra and Luna.
It's just the sci-fi version of "elves" and "orcs" everywhere.
But what I'm interested in is why no one talks about the Space Patrol anymore. You can't have the Terran Federation without their famous Patrol!

>For nearly a century, the majority of mankind has called outer space home, bearing and raising their children there. However, the existence of the lush and verdant Earth adrift in space still allowed the existence of others to eat the bread of idleness.

>Among them, two men, once fierce enemies and later uneasy allies, were enthralled by the same woman. As time passed, the two men made space their home, though each for their own intentions.
>A third time was about to be, but that was not because fate ordained it for the two. Instead, it was their resolve that worked that way.

>But that wasn’t planned either.
>The two had flexibility in their resolve, enabling them to adapt to each new phase in a changing situation. A fear of suffocating from being rutted to one point, bound to one will, must have made them develop such a habit.

>But humans are beings having only one body. Memories accumulated deep within their bodies, mixed with their emotions, bind them from becoming what they should be.

>For this reason, yearning for change, they desired to challenge one another. If they had encountered others who could truly test them, the two should not have come into conflict.

>Yet unfortunately, they could not find any new Newtypes around them.

Yeah, but those shitty episodes are often contained only to themselves.
When Gundam has a shitty episode, that's a shitty episode that will be relevant going forward. When ZZ completely fucks up Puru's death and makes it seem like not a single character actually liked or cared about her, that's far worse than a Star Trek episode where Picard seems like a sociopath for a bit or something.

Star Trek being episodic also means it doesn't have the consistent Gundam AU problem where literally every second half among the AUs completely shit the bed and ruin everything, which is why I can't hold Gundam in that high a regard. >>739149710

Here's some lines from the novels that I highlighted if you need more assurance that I read them.
>"Girls like Gigi aren't exactly uncommon."
>The Captain's comment slightly wounded Hathaway's pride.
>He longed for those he knew to be exceptional. Being characterized so plainly made him feel belittled.

>Hathaway let Masam leave the Captain's room first, then asked the Captain, "Is Gigi's personality really that common?"
>"I can't say for certain. That's merely what Emerald and Mihesha mentioned."
>"Mihessia is the hypersensitive type. So her judgment isn't dependable."
>Hathaway sought to dismiss the assertion, but in truth, Mihessia Hence's character assessments were quite accurate.

>"The Captain must be great in the sack, huh? I bet he even asked you for oral and anal, didn't he?"
>Gigi chuckled, feeling Mace's neck twitch.
>"...!?"
>As Mace's upper body recoiled, her left hand flew towards Gigi's cheek.
>Gigi didn't dodge, and a loud slap resounded.

>'I must have a grudge against women in general...since I was the child of a mother like that...'
>Amuro was able to acquire such an audacious understanding of himself after learning worlds like "mother complex" and as he masturbated he started to find that he was aroused by not only normal pornography but BDSM as well.
>'I want to reject female genitalia...even though I like looking at them so much.'
>He was even able to come up with the theory that his desire to enjoy the erotic, when combined with the urge to forget such impulses, resulted in a new desire to destroy women's bodies.
>However, he was also concerned it might be a dangerous sign that a regular naked woman wasn't enough to sexually arouse him. This was why he absolutely did not want Fraw Bow, a healthy and wholesome girl, to catch wind of his fetishes. So, he remained very aware that he needed to keep presenting himself as a normal boy to her.
>>

>When ZZ completely fucks up Puru's death and makes it seem like not a single character actually liked or cared about her, that's far worse than a Star Trek episode where Picard seems like a sociopath for a bit or something.

I feel like a lot of people here would relate to the Amuro and Lalah novel a lot.
>This reminded him of the wet dream he had woken up from this morning. The girl hadn't been in it. It was almost as if the dream itself was symbolic of her...he had been in the harem of some ancient Middle Eastern kingdom, and as a lustful belly dancer shook her female equipment at him, she asked, "Is it really such a lamentable thing, to have been born here?"
>As she said those words, he ejaculated.
>The disgust over the fishy odor of the white fluid, and imagining whether similar experiences had led to his father becoming an engineer left Amuro feeling hollow in the early morning hours.

>Fraw Bow, a girl in his daily life, was not an object to which the adjective "sexy" could be applied. If he had to describe Fraw Bow, she'd be a nosy woman with puffy cheeks. Despite the pair of curvy legs protruding from beneath her skirt, when she complained to him about her period cramps he didn't know what she was talking about, aside from the understanding that she was annoying.

>Fraw, a meticulous busybody of a girl, still continued to brazenly show up at his house, even after Amuro had discovered the adolescent knowledge of masturbation.

>"Mother is with a man, a man who isn't father." Her face in his memory had given it away even then, he told himself. He had stayed silent and departed their house, clutching his father's hand, but it was likely that he thought, "My father is a pathetic man."

The barren planets dont have BIOmes because there is no life.
Looking past that, they still have poles, terrains and climates.
There has to be a temp difference between equator and poles / day and night, not having at the very least 2 climate zones violates thermodynamics and atmospheric physics.
You can only get away with limited habitable zones on more fucked planets or utter hellholes like Venus, that come very close to having 1 zone because the differences are minimal.

The only thing I remember them saying specifically is that fantasy is more about personal character arcs while sci-fi is more about lessons for civilization, and from what I've seen that's pretty much true. Most fantasy authors are just daydreamers nostalgic for the simplicity of the past; the summer of Western civilization. But most sci-fi authors are borderline political activists. When you're telling a story about the future, you're obviously setting yourself up to create a setting where humanity advanced because of something - and whatever that something is reveals your politics. For example, the entire reason Gene Roddenberry made Star Trek is because he wanted to paint a future where all of humanity treated each other equally. Nowadays, that sentiment has become the dominant religion in the West, but it doesn't make any sense logically. Star Trek even has the Prime Directive, which the writers somehow didn't realize contradicts Roddenberry's vision. The idea that our species needs to all work together and suck each other's dicks in order for us to go to space or something is ludicrous, but it's what a lot of vocal scientists and sci-fi authors (re: propagandists) believed in the 60s and beyond. For no good reason. Imagine aliens looking at Earth and seeing white Americans create automobiles and harness electricity and go to moon and they're like, "Yup. This is only possible thanks to Kintu Kinte from the Congo. He must have helped, surely."

I honestly just dislike the aesthetics of sci-fi. Sci-fi is always made by turbo nerds, which means they have no sense of aesthetics and want to be "practical" with everything, so inevitably the characters all look like they're dressed in condoms and everything has that sterile, ball-less Apple look. Fantasy is designed around our feelings, intuitions and cultural heritage, so you have dudes walking around in big, comfy robes and there's hard wooden tables everywhere and the smell of burning timber.

>based on dumb feelings
No. What I think is entirely based on logic and science, though feelings are not always dumb. You evolved feelings for a reason. The problem is stories need to have a point and as I get older I care less and less about what some faggot artist thinks is true. So the message in sci-fi stories often feel like they're just getting in the way of me enjoying the world and characters. Of course, that's by design, the world and characters are secondary to the message in sci-fi. That's why fantasy is superior. Fantasy is entertaining on its face, it doesn't need a message beyond good trumps evil. You can simply enjoy the romance of living in an idyllic world when women were still chaste and men could solve any problem with steel and words. Meanwhile, sci-fi authors are over there trying to teach me that I need to let savages rape my women or else I'll be doomed to never explore the endless emptiness of space and look at rocks...

A lot of modern scifi is very up its own ass, and mired in current day politics, true. Especially if you're looking only at stuff nominated for Hugos and Nebulas. But being "simple" is exactly why I can't stand most modern Fantasy. I WANT my fiction to try to say something, and not be the literary equivalent of Marvel movies. There is fantasy out there that does this. And it enriches the genre.

I don't really get the praise Zeta gets.
The entire first third's plot is driven primarily by unsupervised teenagers stealing gundams and defecting back and forth seemingly at random. And every adult in charge just consistently lets them get away with it.
Then the latter half is everyone just wandering off in the middle of a pitched battle to have autism fights/philosophy battles with their rival of the week.

I don't expect gundam to take military doctrine seriously but Zeta just completely throws it out the window and I just started laughing every time someone breaks out of the brig to steal a gundam and the commander just goes "damn kids, but let them go". It happened so much I knew the second someone was in the brig they'd be out and in a stolen gundam within the episode.

i understand that explaining all the shit that happened in zeta and zz was unfeasible in a single movie, but they could've done better than two throw away lines about their time in the aeug and haman's death
the movie is also really weird about killing characters off, it dedicates so much time to them and they all just die and nobody really cares, i get that it's 'realistic' but it's still a questionable story move
also the use of star wars sfx was really distracting

You forget that before it was a movie, it was intended to be a OVA proper, sorta like how F91 was supposed to be an OVA to tell a longer more well plot out story, and then some exec decided that spending as much on an OVA seems stupid, so they push it to a movie, which gives them more money for runtime, but far less time to tell the story that was initially conceived.

You're correct that it was supposed to be a full series but, with it having at least its first 13 episodes written down with proper screenplays, it could have easily been condensed into an OVA.

You want a message, dude? I'll give you a fuckin' message. Gears of War has a message for you. What message is that? That killing aliens is your only option if they are out to kill you first.

What, you don't think that's a worthwhile message? What are you, a communist? Alien sympathizer? Traitor.

You think Wolfenstein 3D has no message? You think that killing a castle's worth full of evil Nazis is not a worthwhile cause? Have you not heard of something called "THE HOLOCAUST"? Have you never considered that perhaps we could have saved all those poor kikes if the French, instead of watching their shitty existentialist artfilms with their emo angsty messages, had been playing Wolfenstein 3D instead?

And what about Space Invaders? What about the message, "Protect the Earth -- even if the future of the Earth is uncertain"? And who is to say that one message is less important than another? What could possibly be more important than the survival of the human race?

And don't tell me that all those messages found in action games are very similar- what, do you think all those tens of thousands of emo artsy movies have different messages? I've got news for you sonny, at the end of the day there's only like a dozen fuckin' messages, and all that happens is they just get repeated ad nauseam with different graphics. The only reason some messages are heard more than others is because they ARE MORE IMPORTANT for fuck's sakes, and they have to be drilled into your brain from a young age, otherwise when the aliens attack you'll be all like, "Please, I don't wanna die! I surrender, but please don't take my Gardenia augusta flower arrangements and Barbra Streisand CD collection!"

Bottom line is that pseudo-intellectuals like you are all faggots.

The only good Gundam Is the original. Zeta is "fun" but it's totally aimless then everyone randomly dies in the last two episodes. CCA is shit, it ruins Char's character and a lot of other things feel off as well. Basically Tomino is a clueless one hit wonder. It is much like George Lucas actually.

G Gundam sucks once you actually watch other good monster of the week anime and realize it has mostly nothing.
I'm sure it's good if you're a child and it's one of the first of those kinds of anime you've seen, but by the time I watched G I had seen Getter, I'd seen Mazinger, I'd seen a lot of Brave, etc etc etc, and it quickly made me realize that Imagawa sucks at this since most of the episodes are the same.
There's an art to crafting a good monster of the week show. It's why Youkai Watch is actually a really good anime and why a lot of Digimon anime kind of fucking suck, and also why G Gundam sucks. I wish it was good because I wish I could like it and post about it genuinely.

I'm white so I wasn't around to respond to these when they were posted, but I don't care.
Zeta's a maybe because its action is way less considered and way less interesting than anything in the original or even Victory, and as such it kind of drags.
Char's Counterattack is great, I don't care if you think it ruins Char's character. Char in the original anime was a similarly pathetic man who held no true ideals, CCA Char is just more open to that fact.
Victory is also pretty great. I have to imagine that if you hate it but love shit like Zeta or G you're probably just someone who gets their opinions from other people because a lot of Victory is just Zeta and ZZ but better.

So the one thing the Zeta novels have that differs from the show is you get to see inside everyone's heads as the narrator will just flat out tell you what they're thinking, and anytime we see into Kamille's thoughts he's just horny and thinking about having sex with one of the female cast members, usually whomever is currently in the room with him or most recently talked to. So we get plenty of scenes where Fa is talking about how her parents could be dead and Kamille is like "yeah that sucks" but all he's thinking about is "is Fa emotionally upset enough that if I tried to have sex with her now she wouldn't resist me?" He does this the entire series Haman shows up he's thinking about fucking Haman, Emma walks into the room, he's thinking fucking Emma, Reccoa, Rosamia, Four, Sarah, ect.

I just find it funny because in any given scene when Kamille isn't saying something he's probably fantasizing about having sex with the nearest female. Fa is too good for this horny brat.

Because you discuss normalfag tier shit that everybody on /a/ already discussed and stopped caring about. Most of the anime being discussed in this thread are older than 4chan itself.
Also, the irony to posts like this and these >>739171321 >>739171339 is that /a/ doesn't really have 'native' posters anymore. It's almost all just crossborders from /v/ now.

I mean, I sort of get it, but /v/ is *way* better at actually discussing its board subject matter than most other boards are at discussing theirs. Like, video games are close to the one subject that actually *isn't* going to get better threads on other boards compared what you can get going on /v/.
>>
>>739171658
Char wanted a loli mommy not a fucking hag
>>
>>739171559
>No, it’s just that normalfag garbage has always been shit on,
You can believe that, but the simple reality is that people get sick of discussing the same thing over and over again.
Having a Naruto thread on /v/ is "fine" because chances are, people here will only see them once a month. But they get shit on in /a/ because Naruto has been getting multiple threads a day for over twenty years.
Same with Gundam. Everyone knows the popular consensus on all the anime of note, and nobody is gonna be tricked into watching SD Gundam or whatever else, so there's nothing new there, so people don't discuss it in ways your kind would prefer.
Like, look at /vr/ for instance. Every topic on that board is inevitably going to play out the same way everytime because every 'topic' is settled. Nothing new tends to happen with retro games (also why the board is basically dead).
>>739171631
Does it really matter?
Watching old Gundam anime doesn't mean you have better taste in anime or whatever you're trying to delude yourself into with this post. Gundam has been bad longer than it was ever good for a start, but also, Gundam is just normalfag shit. You are able to buy basically every single Gundam anime, on BD, in English. That's normalfag as hell.
Hell, most people here certainly watched almost all of their Gundam anime dubbed, or just watched compilation films. Would consider them on the same level as those /a/ posters you described.

It depends on what you define as “discussion”. If you want to dive into the daily nitty gritty and can tolerate endless shitposting then yeah /v/ is fine to discuss video games. But I don’t think that’s entirely unique to /v/ either. You can have anime discussions of a similar quality on /a/ or tabletop game discussions on /tg/ and gun discussions on /k/.
But if you just want a relatively pleasant thread on something in a causal sense then an off topic board is almost always better. I’ve seen many nice /tg/ and /k/ threads in particular when they come up for video games

I haven't used /a/ in like seven years (and haven't been on the catalog in about four), but it was crossborders that killed the board. A vast majority of the threads I saw the last time around were just shit you'd see here. That entire breed of posting that came from the DB threads and infected basically every other thread was transparently just standard /v/ fare of copypasting everything "funny" until it stops being funny (namely the old style of posting you'd see from Togashifags back around 2016).
Also, moderation only killed /a/ in the sense that there wasn't enough. The most mods tended to do was publicly ban dumb questions and frogs, or just blatant trolling. Rarely would moderation be active in any non-general thread.
>>739171871
No, not really. Bleach sure, Naruto was kind of half and half, but SnK had a genuine big fanbase on /a/.
>>739171910
>control the entirety of discussion and discourse
No, it's really just that most people get sick of discussing the same thing everyday, especially when there is nothing new to be said about those things.
Take Zeta for instance, every thread about Zeta on /a/ and /m/ is the same thread and has been for over a decade. Because there's nothing more to be said in those threads.
>>739171931
This is just completely false. /vr/ was a dried up husk of a board where people got their opinions from older forums for years before anything you describe, because that's who it appealed to. People still obsessed with classic Nintendo or "How to save the Dreamcast" are inevitably going to be those types of people.
>>739172031

That's the cope most big fanbases on /a/ tended to have about things that ran longer than half a year.
>>739172274
Modern anime is horrible to you, the guy who probably only watches maybe one new show a year (and it tends to be the one most like all the other shit you've watched (braindead shounen action), so you end up constantly comparing it to nostalgic memories), but generally it's usually fine. I watched a couple good shows last season, got a few more good ones this season. Fall 2025 was alright, Summer 2025 was great, Spring 2025 was great, Winter 2025 sucked, etc.
Also, it's ironic to be in the Gundam thread while bitching about a lack of original content.
>>739172285
It really wasn't. I read the manga starting around Chapter 6 I think, since it had one of the louder manga fanbases even by that point, and it always seemed like something a bullying victim would read, like a naroukei but somehow even more pathetic than a lot of those. At least Saito was having sex with Louise.

I mean, I'm probably right. The average person who jerks off about how they read manga usually reads low-brow, low-effort slop that has no understanding of manga fundamentals, looks like complete shit, has awful paneling, and even worse storylines than you'd see during a typical winter season.

The argument was that the modern /a/ user only consumes slop. Nothing you have said refutes this.

I like this one because it's true. We can already colonize Mars and have people bumming around Jupiter as far as technology goes. It would be harsh and expensive, but it's not impossible. The shuttle program was a total fuck up, but if instead of divesting from it the Americans used their ill-gotten dollar gains to double down, it could have happened. Turns out there are shortcuts for terraforming too so it could happen within a generation for Mars if we fully committed to it as a species. Once you're mining uranium on Mars and scooping helium3 from Jupiter's upper atmosphere with repeated flybys you're golden to go anywhere you want in the solar system at reasonable speeds. You can even build orbital ferry systems that can move mass from earth to Venus with barely any deltaV by leveraging orbital mechanics (load ship on perihelion, close to your source planet, unload at aphelion, closer to the destination, which has its own ferry intersecting the previous one at its own aphelion, then unload at the destination's perihelion)

We have enough tech to be multiplanetary already, but we're having a demographic collapse all on our own because we're utterly retarded in our choice of leaders and tolerance of their compete failures, just because they lie all the time and we want to believe them.

>Am I mistaken in saying that nearly all seasonal anime at this point are adaptations?
You're mistaken in saying all anime sucks, and even more that an adaptation isn't worth anything.
The best anime of the 1970s were adaptations, Ace wo Nerae, Rose of Versailles, and Ashita no Joe specifically. Very significant anime, the best of the decade, all adaptations, and all better than their manga counterparts. Extends into the 80s as well with Patalliro, but a lot of the 80s anime greats were original simply due to how the times changed thanks to those anime and others, creating a market of by otaku for otaku (ie SDF Macross, Gunbuster, Nadia).
A lot of great anime today are also still adaptations. Obviously The Monogatari Series, but also Wit's work on Yaiba and Mob Pyscho, Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu, Ninkoro, CITY, etc.
Even some great originals like ApoHotel or the current Rib Isekai (which is only an adaptation the same way Rizelmine or FMA 2003 were, it's largely an original work), and even the adaptations of hyper popular works like Jujutsu Kaisen are utilizing elevated techniques in their work that put them far above their original work.
>>739173113
I gave a shounen action, a dark comedy, and a medical drama. It's funny to see shittalk from people who won't even say what they like, and I never even suggested I had elevated taste. I just think most mangaka suck at making manga and utilizing their medium. The most popular current mangaka is Fujimoto Tatsuki, a man whose paneling moreso resembles storyboards and couldn't construct a good action scene to save his life despite making action manga.

Also, it's funny that anime gets shit for being a lot of adaptations, when probably more than a quarter of manga currently running are LN adaptations.

That’s American Sci-fi, Americans have no sense of place or concept of geographic identity, everything to them is like through a translation layer of cartoony stereotypes or vague second hand imaginary worlds, so they’re never equipped to write or conceptualise an environment where planets are like modern nation states with their internal complexities and challenges, instead they’ll imagine the state of Texas having access to interstellar travel and all the universe is just other US states (federation, money is still a thing and very important, language/local norms barrier is not a factor), if you want better sci-fi read Boris Strugats, Iain M. Banks, and Cixin Liu might not be for everyone buy his work is highly original and interesting

Gundam is a trillion times more digestible if you watch an episode a day, maybe 3-4 times a week, rather than binge watching it. Spread it out. It was designed for that, and classic UC entries have the battle-per-episode mandate that hurts the pacing. It was designed to take a while to digest.

In terms of mainstream, both sci-fi and fantasy are in a pretty bad spot if you'd ask me.
>sci-fi
While enjoyable, hard sci-fi has bled into every subgenre. There's nothing wrong with keeping things more grounded but for some reason it all gets into the same chokepoint where the big bad is some evil greedy corporate powerhouse.
The mainstream need to explain everything is seeping into every aspect. Explaining some things are fun as you can connect it with contemporary science, but there shouldn't be anything wrong with "space metal, it's better than metal, that's it".
>fantasy
The issue in fantasy is individualism taken to the extreme.
The mainstream is interested in having characters that "breaks the mold" and "stands out" but then if all chracters stand out the art direction becomes an absolute mess.
People will choose "being unique" over artistic cohesion and then completely forget somehow that if everyone stands out with their quirky colored tiefling, then your character will no longer stand out.

Stereotypes are fun.
Breaking stereotypes is also fun, but you can do it both while maintaining a cohesive picture as seen in the top fantasy part in picrel (female knight).
The first two Conan movies are a great example of this. You can have unique characters without breaking the cohesion.
The funny thing is, the bottom fantasy part wouldn't even be that bad if we just changed the colors to be similar like the top fantasy part.

because people are getting dumber and browner. To understand sci-fi you have to at least have the mental capacity to understand a basic explanation of whatever new scientific concept the work is about. With fantasy "it's magic you don't have to explain shit".

>>739150919
Even then there were different currencies of different sizes and precious metal contents. At no point did people ever call their currency "gold pieces".

Especially since most people only dealt with tin, copper, bronze or silver pieces. A gold piece would have been like a year worth of wages. A silver one typically a month.

The Hathaway novels are pretty much just a Hathaway character study where his death is inevitable.
They were published before F91 finished production, but you know Hathaway's goals can only end in failure from the beginning if you pay attention. He's as shallow as Char and Amuro in motives and he's effectively an oldtype posing as a newtype, with constant aspirations for that supposed greatness embodied by Amuro.
I worry the films might change the ending given that the main character just being detained and executed is hardly the type of drama that fits what will inevitably be a decade long film project.

Escaflowne was one of Sunrise's early attempts at an original multimedia franchise made to appeal to everyone, along the same lineage as Code Geass or Valvrave. They assumed mecha would guarantee a male audience and thus went overboard trying to overtly appeal to young women.

I wouldn't really characterize it as a shoujo because if you're in it for the romance you'll have to sit through the weekly mecha action quota, the creepy body horror doppelganger dude, the bisexual catgirl slave soldiers and the parade of potential love interests that just exist to kind of orbit the main character but never really present viable romance options because the bland mecha protagonist was obviously endgame all along. It's more like a jrpg story made into a show.

Though once you see it you'll realize just how many popular characters in anime since are just "Folken but good"
>>
>>739176250
I dunno, I didn't really expect that ending when reading it. He's definitely wishywashy though but to just execute him and achieve pretty much nothing is so fucked up. No other Gundam has the protagonist fuck up that much and it's done in such a mean spirited way too. I legit wouldn't mind them changing the ending because that's just grim. Especially in our environment too lol.

If you want cryptoshit as your setting currency then name your shitcoin, if you want your setting to have "credits" then fucking name them something other than credits

The thing with Hathaway is that, even compared to other Tomino novel protagonists, he's very pathetic and shallow in how he is written, and his entire narrative journey is one of slow self-destruction. Not in a comically over the top way, but in a very normal way where his personality causes him to drive people away for things that make him feel more special or important. I posted a passage earlier where he literally says he wants the people he associates with to be special.
>The Captain's comment slightly wounded Hathaway's pride.
>He longed for those he knew to be exceptional. Being characterized so plainly made him feel belittled.
I wasn't expecting him to straight up be executed, but I did fully expect his complete failure and for him to ultimately accomplish nothing. It's also why he has no real connection to Lane Aim, whereas usually the main character has some kind of connection to the rival pilot.

Well, it didn't fare well in the sphere of animation, but it did have an almost complete comic adaptation which was pretty decent (i believe there even was story dump threads at /co/)
And to be fair to the TV show, while the writing was indeed shit and toned down to a episodic flop for teenagers (it WAS Nickelodeon, after all), the main issue was always going to be the animals and the transformations anyway. No way they could control birds or ants, for example, and some of the transformations were fucking ghastly, and leave them offscreened would have suck as well.
In that regard, i'm surprised they never revived the series considering CGI is more available nowadays. Despite the sales factor, they often revive other dead series so i don't see why they couldn't bet on this one. The trick is never hype it so much, despite how desperate for profit you are

When building a world, you shouldn't create or name something different just for the sake of being different because the people will recognize that it's no different from well known things and use the universal name.
You have to make something actually different that will make people care to use the new name because there's actual reason behind it.

Just like with dragon ball and wanpiss. The problem is that while those are more popular due to spics they lack any sort of passion or talent on the development side of things so they play much worse than digimon (yes, including the absolutely terrible current state of digimon meta). To name an example I remember so I'm not just vague posting - right at the start when the zaku team dies to Gundam after they discover it in Side 7
Char reaction to his captain and 2 other MS pilots dying was something like
>we all want to erase the mistakes of our youth
What kind of response is that? What does that have to do with anything? Who talks like that?
I get that it's supposed to be foreshadowing for how Char himself feels about his youth (or maybe not, I'm just guessing) but it doesn't connect in any way to what just happened and everyone ignored him after he said it too. Just a bizarre scene and the anime was full of stuff like this

>>
>>739179978
Then why not just say that? I thought the guy was some old dishonored veteran trying to make up for whatever fuck up he did. If he's young then what mistake does he want to erase?
This is what I mean by everyone speaking like robots emulating human emotions, the subtitles read like one of those parodies people make by running something through 15 different languages in google translate before going back to english and seeing how mangled it became
