I love the voicing acting in this game so fucking much, kill the modern voice acting industry
I cannot allow you to go any further.
>>739145958Step on the-GOOD GOING FOX
>>739147986I've only recently started playing SF64 more seriously, and I got to the true ending pretty easily by taking the Miyamoto route. You start in Corneria and fight the Attack Carrier to get to Sector Y and then you get less than 100 hits to go to Katina where you let the mothership blow up the base to go to Sector X. Take the warp with Falco in Sector X to go to Sector Z, destroy the 6 missiles there, and then do your best to survive Area 6. Once you're through that all you gotta do is one fight against Star Wolf, then it's onto Andross. His monkey phase is pretty easy, and the eyeball phase of the brain is pretty easy too. The final part of the brain phase is hard as fuck if you don't U-turn and it's probably the only point in the game you NEED to do it. When you shoot the front part of the brain and he turns intangible and fades away, IMMEDIATELY hit the U turn because he'll teleport right behind you and you'll be adequately set up to shoot the lower weak point of the brain. If you make it through with hyper lasers it's pretty easy. Just make sure not to take too much damage because it's easy to hit walls and accidentally kill yourself in the escape sequence with James. This was my route first time through the game and I found it pretty fun and low stakes early on as an easy way to get the true ending. It's also the only route to incorporate Sectors Y, X, and Z all together, so it's pretty unique as well.
>>739155820>IMMEDIATELY hit the U turn because he'll teleport right behind you and you'll be adequately set up to shoot the lower weak point of the brainWhat I do personally is carry it to the corner of the level and making an automatic U Turn and blindly shoot it, when I see him spawning out I hit the brakes lmao and then immediately turn around, so I can target it without crashing on it and making it break my wings with its brain spaghetti thing. Takes a good while to get out and face you so if you're quick you can kill it doing this only once
>>739155820You know that you can change your destination if you get a Mission Accomplished rating instead of Mission Complete, right? You can go apeshit on those space monkeys and then go to the 'penalty' area if you want.
>>739146276Step on the OOPS!
>>739155959I tried hitting the auto u-turn maneuver, and it did work a couple times but, there were some times where it would turn me around and drop me right in his tentacles, and it's easily the worst attack in the game with multiple hits and potential to break your wings. The moment I figured out the U-turn I killed him first try and it pissed me off with how bad I was struggling without the U-turn.
>>739155994Yes, but I'm talking strictly the criteria for getting to each area. It's easier if you go in with a specific route in mind so you can focus on each objective as they come, especially for people just looking to see the true ending. I would only recommend getting choosy with where you go after you beat the game and have a better handle on how to progress/how to control the arwing.
>>739145958that game had 10/10 voice acting

>>739156569The 2020 gigaleak gave us all the uncompressed dialogue as well. It's really neat to hear. Honestly, they should've just used it for the 3DS remake instead of re-recording everything (although I appreciate them getting most of the original cast to reprise their roles).

>>739160804I heard the first boss in the remake and they again made the mistake of not hiring some old guy who can't overact and instead do some stupid voice that's meant to be anti-intimidating. It's ruined.
>>739160804Everything that's not from our childhoods is soulless.

>>739160929unfortunately it seems they're ditching the camp that unwittingly gave the original soul. they're playing the remake too straight imo.

FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOX THATS ONE OF OURS
>>739161139eh, maybe. some films and games pull it off. but as it stands to me, a lot of the performances are just cardboard feeling, line reading. I sometimes wonder if they weren't pushing this game out just for the chat avatars.
Andross is an insane fool.
>>739160415Only 88k for wiping out an entire army and saving Corneria, how affordable!
>>739161853SP$ is real currency, not fiat so it has actual value
Honestly, the line changes from the start kind of erk me where slippy gets ahead of himself in Corneria despite peppy's warning and gets himself into troubleinstead of panicking he just says "oh I'm doing some shit, fox can you take care of them" in a way that suggest he doesn't even carethen when you save him he's like, "oh you got them, cool thanks fox"it's small but it's easily character assassination

>>739164035I love how Leon sounded in 64. He's like a suave hitman who knows how to treat a lady well, where to buy the best drinks, and how to efficiently kill someone with no trace of evidence. Better than him sounding like a crackhead in Assault.
Corneria, fourth planet of the Corneria system
>>739165532WHATS WRONG FALCO??? YOU'RE SHAKING
>>739156569It was very impressive, especially when every other gaming company just had their characters phone everything in. N64 era was such kino.
>>739154275From what I heard, a lot of the voice actors in the game had experience with radio and whatnot. Their style was thus very distinctly different to that of more typical game dubs.

>>739167037Half-Life 1 and Star Fox 64 probably have the most 1:1 ratio of memorable lines to "number of lines of dialogue in the game". Sure, MGS has a lot of memorable lines, but it also has ten million lines in general.

I recently learned the deepestlore backstory.Star Fox took the job to pay off the Great Fox, which James signed an 80 year loan for.
>>739160415Star Fox sure killed a lot of monkeys
How antisoul are they gonna make the pirate guy?
>>739170349Some of them were asteroids.
Played some Star Fox Assault recently, it was alright actually, I kinda liked the ground action as I got a little more used to it.But still, the game starts off with a pretty sweet on-rails flying mission and then the game continues to have very little of that in the next missions, I think there's maybe 3 traditional on-rails flying missions total in the game. But they are so much fun, they really should have fleshed out that content way more.
Man June 25th cannot get here fast enough.
