Man, they really struggled at bringing Sonic to 7th generation home consoles
>>739146883Secret Rings was going to be Sonic '06 for the Wii, then they realized that was impossible and decided it should be its own thing. They should have just had all the staff for that help make the 360 game, but they ended up making something better than what they were going to.
>>739146883Sonic Team should just have focused on making 06 their priority instead of sharing all their devs to other games they we're making at that time
>MUST I FLOAT AWAY?>WILL I EVER WAKE?
>>739147007>>739147432the problem is they needed to make sonic ready for the new consoles and they wanted to keep sonic relevant for christmas
>>739149664Secret Rings got delayed from Fall of 2006 to February 2007.The fact that they delayed it and not 06, means that Sega knew 06 was beyond saving at that point.
secret rings is fine thoughbeityeah on-rails and RPG stats are weird but they aren't really an obstacle to playing the gameonly thing really annoying is automatically moving forward

Secret rings could have worked better as an arcade game since it has all those quirks that later gets ported to consoles instead of being motion control slop only
>>739147492>IF TRULY FREE BE THERE FOREVER THROUGH ALL THAT'S HAPPENING>WHO'S GONNA THE PLACE (PLACE, PLACE)
Huh? This is all the sonic you need
>>739146883To be fair, that's not exactly true. We got Colors and Generations. Unfortunately, Sonic Team learned the wrong lessons for those games + the combination of the Wii U being a new (and terrible) console caused them to make shitty games for years. The Deadly Shits and Boom would have never existed if it weren't for the Wii U.
>>739146883They didn't; Sonic 06 was undermined by SEGA's management. Secret Rings was an interesting take on its own.>>739147007Secret Rings were part of the 06 dev team that sega took away wanting a slice of the Wii pie. Both games suffered from lack of dev numbers
>>739147492this game might have been pure ass but it had aura. crazy good ost
