Not saying all collectors are like this, but a significant portion of them are parasitic to video game culture as a whole. Previously when someone was done with a game, they'd put it in a bargain bin somewhere or just hand it off to some kid. There wasn't a second hand market for games and this was great if you were an adult who wanted to play or own that one game from your childhood. It's more about the shift in culture from second hand games being something that you passed around like used t shirts to other people who loved video games, rather than having them be this precious artefact to be horded, which I too mourn.
I think the first 3 games on original hardware have a completely different feel than anything a remake or rerelease could capture which is what makes it such a shame faggot scalpers are trying to sell the shit for like four hundred fucking dollars
