Taking too damn long to add the human NPCs and enemies. It's very fun when you play it with features like the expanded helicopter events and bandits mod on, but they should just hire those guys. to be fair a lot of mods are dogshit,
but to assume that video game developers will always have the best taste and make the right choices is a pretty wild bet.
tasteful mods that make decisions that better align with what you want is fine, I often mod my own games because no one has better taste than me.

the fact they weren't using any version control or offsite backups when they "lost the codebase" leads me to believe they're complete amateurs.

they're probably at the point now where to add anything to the game requires a huge amount of untangling and surgical edits to achieve because they had no idea how to architect it in the first place.

Yeah. Focusing on retarded gimmicks instead of improving the core. They'll add nonsense like pottery to the game, but the calorie system will remain untouched for years so you'll have to swallow bars of butter or consume jars of peanut butter to actually gain weight. One of my first deaths in this game was dying to weight loss despite shovelling tonns of food down my character's throat.
