I can plug in literally any controller and it works with any game, even KB only games
I can right click any of my ingame friends and just join their game
I can add literally any program to steam and treat it as a game, so my controller just works
there's an entire mod ecosystem in the Steam Workshop (not the sole ecosystem but it makes it as easy as possible)

I manage my free games through Heroic rather than installing the EGS launcher. There are a couple exceptions that won't work that way, though, like Battlefront 2. I'm not sure if Fortnight is one of them.
