You don't need more than this.
>>
you can get 240hz displays now for real fucking cheap, 144h is already forgotten
>>
No it's useless. 120 is good.
Adding 24 more frames does nothing significant besides fucking up the fluidity of any non-game content that's 30 or 60fps.
It's an actual meme. Stick to 120 or go straight to 180, or 240.
>>
>>739191214
id say 240 is the cutoff. any higher and you barely feel a difference and experience alot more inconsistency with the large frame rate variance.
>>
>>739191460
It's not about getting 24 more frames, it's about matching with the 24fps standard
>>
I don't even really see any difference past 120 on my 165hz monitor
30 -> 60 big diffirence
60 -> 90 noticeable difference
90 -> 120 small difference
120 -> 165 no visible difference
>>
It's not just the hz but also how fast the panel actually is in recoloring the pixels so it doesn't feel blurry. Like those old tryhard 144hz benq monitors were better than many 240hz+ ones for a long time and still are depending what you compare to.
>>
>>739191214
>p-please use the 144hz meme like I do
kek
>>
>>739191528
240hz still produces 4x the motion blur of traditional CRT monitors which only held their frames for 1ms as opposed to 4ms, so even at that point there's still room to improve with strobing or BFI
>>
>>739191214
Everyone copes with both, resolution and framerate
MUUUUH 1080P
MUUUH 144HZ
Truth is no, not even 4k is good enough, 8k is a noticeable sharpness increase
No, 144hz is not fluid enough 360hz is a noticeable fluidity increase

Until we can play in an OLED 8K 1000HZ monitor we will still be far from perfection.
>>
Went 60 -> 240. Where is that "difference" I should be seeing exactly?
Also nobody ever specifies what exactly it supposed to be, so I'm calling it all snakecebo.

shit, i guess

I have a 165Hz monitor, and I'm happy as long as it stays above 90fps.
>>
games will always look better on CRTs no matter how high OLED/LCD refresh rates get
>>
>>739191214
240hz 1440p is the bare minimum

>>739191690
Guess what, 120 does that too! 120/24=5!
>>
You don't need more than [current poorfag cope]. That is why 1080p is a retarded meme high resolution nobody will ever need.

1080p 90FPS is enough
Office keyboards are enough
Cheap chinese wireless mice are enough

So do movies.
>>
>>739191214
pretty much correct, yeah. slight advantage if you go higher in competitive fps but it's not huge. does matter though at pro level.
>>739191719
also agreed. but with the caveat that playing with a controller can help hide lower fps imo, every time I use a controller I don't even really notice I'm on 60 fps but when I flick the mouse around fast 60 doesn't feel like enough. so for shooters and racing games I usually like the higher refresh, lots of other games don't really need it
