how hard is this game? looking to get into puzzle games.
Other than one or two puzzles the game isn't very difficult, should be a pretty decent time overall. Now Riven on the other hand, is pretty hard.
>>739198658should probably play games like portal and the talos principle first. it's not hard if you've played a fair share of puzzle games but it's more obtuse than those games which are pretty much straight forward and don't require abstract thinking.
>>739198658Not too hard except for the underground railway part (you *will* need to hand-draw a map) and maybe the keyboard part if you've never played an instrument and can't read music.Make sure to play Riven afterwards too. And also Outer Wilds with the EotE dlc too if you haven't already.
>>739199185I already played portal and most of talos principle. what else can you recommend?
>>739198658For a modern player? Bashing your head against the wall hard.
>>739198658>I have beaten Myst, I am hot shit>play pic related>can't get out of the first room
>>739198658The piano puzzle was literally impossible to me even with a guide my grandpa printed out.
>>739198658I am very good at puzzle games and the lever mechanic literally had me stumped for a few hours. It is fucking insane that there's just randomly a COMPLETELY new mechanic introduced to the game that you just randomly have to figure out yourself, despite the game never having used that mechanic before and the game never using that mechanic again after. Now having said that, Myst is piss easy compared to Riven.
>>739198658>looking to get into puzzle games.Make sure you play Ghost Trick, the best puzzle game ever made.
>>739199251>I already played portal and most of talos principle.those are logic-based. logic is only part of the package in myst games.
>>739199686The other part is *sovl*. If you are a sovless individual, you'll never make it to the end.
>>739199251>what else can you recommend? Not that guy, but here's some recommendations.Must plays:>Baba Is You>Outer Wilds>Return of the Obra DinnEntertaining because they are different and make you think outside of the box:>Antichamber>Manifold Garden>Superliminal>Viewfinder>World of GooNot my cup of tea, but a lot of people love them:>The Witness>Blue PrinceMyst-likes:>Obduction - Literally made by the Myst and Riven devs. It sits in between those 2 games in terms of difficulty>RHEM - This entire series is literally a budget Myst-like
>>739200372Add Quern to myst likes
>>739200641Oh yeah, I forgot about that game. I need to replay it.
>>739200372What are your issues with Blue Prince? Haven't played it yet so I'm curious what people don't like about it.
>>739201204The main issue with the game is that it presents itself as a puzzle game, but it's actually more like a roguelite that's puzzle-based. There were a bunch of times where I would know how to proceed to the next step, but the game just wouldn't let me due to the RNG of the tiles that you have to place and the game just wouldn't give me the correct tiles, causing me to waste like an hour or two waiting for the right tiles so I could finally move on.It seems like it's 50/50 on whether people love or hate that aspect of the game.
>>739201429Yeah I can definitely see that being something to dislike. I see people compare BP to Outer Wilds but to me the thing that makes Outer Wilds so cool is that it's 100% knowledge based so the only thing stopping you from beating the game in 5 minutes is simply having the know how to do it.
>>739201548Yeah, I don't see how people compared BP and Outer Wilds. Like you said, Outer Wilds feels like it's skill and knowledge based, but BP feels like it's 50% RNG.
>>739198658It's pretty hard. It involves knowing a bunch of stuff like playing back music notes. If you don't mind the occasional walkthru notes, you can probably get thru 90% of it without specialized knowledge, but the game does assume that you have (or will look up) how some things work in order to understand and complete some puzzles.
