Everyone says how great Hearts of Stone is, that the story of Iris and Olgierd is remarkably poignant, at least for a video game. This is true, but a decade on I find Blood and Wine's intertwining tales of bitterness more moving. In one tale you have this nigga, who allowed his bitterness to utterly consume him and turn him into the monster he didn't want to be know as. In the other, you have the tale of Syanna, who (hopefully) lets go of her bitterness and instead tries to forgive.Glad I got the good ending on my first try because that shit was pretty satisfying.
I liked that you could calm Syanna down with your dick and then kill her simp vampire. Toussaint is a very pretty, civilized place with the right amount of Dionysian spirit and debauchery such as festivals and gladiatoral combat with savage animals. I'd normally find a female ruler with no designated male heir abhorrent but Anarietta was hot and cool so she gets a pass, hopefully she gets pregnant soon after the expansion ends.I also enjoyed having your gf come over at the end and they don't care or even mention that you've been fucking around while going on adventures, means Geralt is still a free man and hasn't been longhoused.
>>739203102I think the issue is that Dettlaff and Syanna aren't just terribly likeable characters. With Dettlaff, you're off with him trying to murder you after he just murdered a friend of yours that you haven't seen in years. Then it takes great effort to find this guy, while your best friend essentially explains that he struggles to adapt to some basic concepts of human society (like a kid).Once you meet him, he comes off as the introvert guy at a party that struggles to keep up a conversation, not terribly likeable or charismatic. Then once it's revealed that his ex is a bitch, he throws a hissyfit, torches a whole town to force a situation where Syanna could arguably say nothing to him to salvage the situation.Essentially, he has the attitude of an emo teenager, looks like a guy in his 40's that still dresses like a emo teenager, the emotional control of a child but you have to tiptoe around him because batshit strong vampire. To round things off, your actual friend keeps vouching for him like he does for some other friend of his that's actually pretty odd but he insists on that he's actually chill....the line>if you acknowledge any gods, start praying nowis dope, though.
>>739203102Blood wine story was kinda meh, the expansion was good because it had a whole new region full of sidecontentHearts of stone had a more focused narrative

>>739203729>he throws a hissyfithe just wanted to be loved broand when he thought he found it, it turned out he was just being used.
>>739206162Sperging out over a woman is never worth it.
i just laughed at the whole 'vampires don't care what humans think because after all they're our food supply so it doesn't do anyone any good to be jerks' and then regis explaining that higher vampires are emotional and impulsive and even feel love. blood and wine was good because toussaint was so radically aesthetically different than the base game which is a massive war torn shithole
>>739203102>allowed his bitterness to utterly consume him and turn him into the monster
>>739206637It's not too late. You don't have to give in.
I thought the actual plot was mostly shit, but I did like the contrast between the beautiful fairy tale world of Toussaint and the grimdark horror vampire stuff. I feel like they were intentionally trying to embody the theme of evil lurking in polite society with both the literal vampires blending in and the human nobles of the country being petty backstabbing psychopaths. I could not take the simp antagonist seriously. The elder vampire being a bald autist NEET who spends all his time indoors being overly nostalgic about the past was also very silly. I thought the lady running the orphanage feeding off stray children was the creepiest of the bunch.

>>739203729The way Detlaff is described by others is more interesting than the man himself. One of the characters tells a story about how a peasant boy gave Dettlaff an apple and he was so moved by it that when the boy was killed by a monster, he personally went out and killed it to avenge him and then laid the corpse next to a drunken passed out hunter so he could take credit for it.I wish we could have seen more of that side of him in the game instead of just having to rely on second hand accounts.

>>739203102I prefer Blood & Wine to Hearts of Stone. New map adds to the experience, and as much as I like Gaunter, I don't give a shit about Olgierd and let him die every time.
>>739203729One of his victims was a dude he actually liked, finding out it was just a ploy pissed him off.
>>739203102>Is there a character that can beat Detlaff? And I am not talking about super human Detlaff. I am not talking about higher vampire Detlaff, also not super higher vampire fueled by rage Detlaff, hell I am not even talking about higher vampire monster army rage fueled Detlaff I am talking about...
>>739203102He's literally meNeed more pure hearted incels in vidya
Blood and Wine was the sole only good part about Witcher 3. Gaunter o’ Dimm is a cool villain but Hearts of Stone has too much fetch quest shit
>>739203102Detlaff was right in everything except attacking the town.
mm yes, witcher 3 good. indeed.
I’ll say this about Witcher 3. I had a friend and we both sort of played this at the same time. He spared the cunt bitch sister and the dumb bitch queen and I let both of them die, and he got fucking furious at me. We had a short little argument about it before he conceded (or more like I just didn’t care and he realized he shouldn’t either), but the fact is we both argued about the choices in Blood and Wine. He ranted about the base game as well but I just didn’t give a shit because the base game is just so fucking boring, I mostly just nodded to whatever he said. I remember he warned me about that scene where you meet the serial killer who’s got a bunch of dead women in his house, then when I got to that part I was just like “oh. that’s it?”This game is massively overrated, but Blood and Wine was peak, and I can’t deny it did some things right if the game gathered such a big following of retards
>>739203843Shit opinionShit personTo the oubliette with you
>>739214805The base game is all ugly rainy grey shithole areas and the main quest is chasing after a shit character who is being pursued by lame gay elves. Literally unplayable after experiencing Toussaint.
