The poisonous air makes you more vulnerable to enemies, especially in the early game, and allows for clever usage of the light bubbles in combat to take out Ing. Ammo management is encouraged as well, since each beam has varying effectiveness on both Ing enemies and the light sources. Checking how portals link to Light Aether on the map adds to the puzzle-like world structure. I'd say the atmosphere of the game is greatly enhanced by Dark Aether, as it makes the world feel way more hostile than it did in Prime 1. Even the major boss encounters are improved by taking place in Dark Aether, as it requires the player to think more about their positioning in the arena so that they don't take more damage. The reason Quadraxis was very memorable for me was not just because of all of the engaging phases of the fight or the sheer scale of the boss, but also because it's a test of endurance for the player to see if they can take out a late-game multi-phase boss while having their health slowly drained with no safe zones to hide in. Prime 2 as a whole is a rare case of reused assets done right to make a great sequel in a short timespan.

I dropped this game after an hour and this was my first Metroid game. For the franchise that made the METROIDvania genre the first area was very linear and the guy you save ruins the atmosphere that area could of had by hand holding you to the next area.As someone who's never played a Metroid game this game really doesn't care for you to know anything about Samus except for everyone at the first shootout saying how cool she is. Or why anything is happening in the first shootout at the beginning of the game.The controls and aiming kind of sucked and you need to aim to analyse anything in the game like it's a mini loading screen every single time. This sucks because it looks and sounds very nice and it's very impressive on the switch 1. This franchise could use a reboot or a new sub series other than Prime where the devs can do whatever they want

I really don't get why they didn't have the entire federation base along with the troops and space pirates teleport to Viewros. That would've been a cool hub; two opposing forces stranded with minimal supplies, no backup, and an eerie Mad Max wasteland filled with savage fauna surrounding them.That prologue is so fucking cool, but then you get to the game proper and it sucks dong. All of the enemies and aliens and lore and level design and puzzles are fucking gay and stupid. I scanned fucking everything trying to find something interesting and nothing. It's all so lazy and drab. Like holy shit fucking Hunger Games has more going on in its universe and characters. It's a fucking YA novel for teenage girls. Holy Christ on a crutch.
