Not cheap references like "WOW THERE'S AN UPSIDE DOWN VERSION OF THE MAP!" but that sort of gameplay style with similar movement and a map traversed vaguely like Super Metroid. The hardest part will be the art style. They probably don't have people to make sprites like that again, but when they go for 3D models, they should still try to make it look hand drawn. Shoot for looking like Guilty Gear Xrd and settle for getting close.

Nothing about it looks like a Castlevania game except for the name and a couple of items.

Legacy and brand name hype despite the creative talent being on Bloodstained.I'm not writing off Belmont's Curse, but I'm not sold on the sterilized and hyper streamlined look to the animations and particle effects/models. It's from a reputable enough team though, and metroidvanias almost never get to have this level of budget and attention so I'm keeping my eye on it still. I'm expecting it to reach a higher baseline of being playable at minimum than the majority of games in the genre through sheer polish if not else.
