>Fortnite is dying
>Unreal Engine is a massive joke
>EGS is still a failure
How did Epic lose so badly?
>>
I am so fucking baffled by the inefficiency with which modern companies operate, especially US companies. Like genuinely how can you have this giant fancy building, dozens of men in suits, and then the product was slapped together by 1 guy on adderall using templates and doesn't even have a shopping cart.
>>
Timmy bit more than he could chew.
>>
>>739234314
Unreal Engine is actually a massive success, despite UE5 being wholly unoptimized horse shit.

Well deserved. I don't know why people actually took Timmy seriously when he decided to become a "le savior of PC gaming", that little kike loudly and openly wanted PC gaming dead while bending over and spreading his wrinkly cheeks for consoles, which was a "opinion" most of the industey used to share in the 2000 and early 2010 btw. Reminder Gears of War 2 never came out on PC because "if someone is smart enough to upgrade his computer for a new game, he is smart enough to use bittorrent"
>>
>>739234951
pretending that event numbers are the same as normal game numbers makes you as retarded as the ones saying it isn't dying
>>
>>739234403
the majority of roles in modern companies are superfluous, they have so many management roles taking up their budget
>>
>>739234314
by spending their time trying to tell the market what it can and can’t do instead of actually trying to satisfy customers?
>>

Guys, i think billionaries are not that smart at leading business.

they took da china money then blew it on lawsuits and fortnite crossovers, rather than making new games.
>>
>>739234314
Fortnite is pretty useless right now, alphoids or how are they called start with roblox and then transition right into gambling/streams
>>
Has Timmy gotten into another schizo meltdown recently? Last i paid attention he was "pretending" that pic of Gabe with the diamond grill was real

Don't forget ESG bloat. Hiring endless browns and women to try and fail to do the job of one white man.

Go look at Maratroon numbers to see what dying game really looks like.
>>

Considering just how unpopular his store is (based on their own official internal numbers when they revealed that nobody is actually buying anything from them), I think the only people who actually believe his rhetoric are the people he pays to.

>Epic really thought Fortnite would last forever instead of making new games
Even Valve makes new games.
>>
Epic fanboys and valve fanboys deserve each other holy fuck
>>
>>739234403
Because modern US companies aren't proud of the product. They're chasing as much money possible with the lowest investment. It's why people claim AAA is dead. They still make them but the games are usually soulless slop
>>
>>739234603
reminder that the licensing fees are like 3% of epic's revenue and that they wouldn't be able to survive on unreal engine alone

Gaben lost and got raped
>>
>>739238838
The EGS loses 200% of Unreal's profits yearly. It takes 2 years of Unreal profits to cover 1 year of EGS losses.

How long will Valve remain relatively consumer friendly? I fear that once Gabe dies the new head of Valve will start raping gamers

Unreal Engine's revenue is a rounding error for Epic. All their money comes from kids buying skins (kids aren't playing Fortnite any more and it's just fat balding millennials and gen z).

>How long will Valve remain relatively consumer friendly?
Ten years tops.

First thing the new owner will do is trim the fat. Games that get under 1000 downloads a month will just be gone forever.

Want to play Loom (1990)? Too fucking bad. Go find a working Amiga and start installing disk 1 of 12.

>>
>>739239734
Do you really expect a businessman to keep a service so ridiculously consumer friendly after the man who cares is dead? Hey, maybe Sears will go back to delivering goods by train to rural areas.

Fast food basically sells itself but that wasn't enough. They had to put in meat fillers and water down the drinks to the point where you can't even call it food, and THEN they raised the prices. It's $20 for a McDonald's combo meal that's smaller than it was 15 years ago and tastes like salty nothing.

They aggressively hate the consumer, you think they'll give a fuck about classic PC gaming? If it doesn't generate constant revenue, it's gone.
>>
>>739239952
I mean Windows does steal and copyright your code if you use visual studio

>Fortnite makes an unbelievable amount of money
>A crazy, insane, mind boggling amount of money
>Enough money for thousands of core employees to be completely set up for life forever including all of the parasitic management
>The only thing the C suite can think of is "why don't we make more money? why not a second fortnite, why not an appstore for more money?"
>Drain a frankly disgusting amount of money into things that will never ever return on their investment
>Build up so much personnel and project bloat you make Ubisoft blush
>The fetid rotten corpse is now fit to burst
It is unfathomable, like completely unfathomable how much money Epic has lost for no reason
>>
>>739240253
It all comes down to Sweeney's ego. He got high on his own supply and decided to fight Valve, Apple, Google and Roblox all at the same time.
>>
>>739240253
>why don't we make more money?
I love that they weren't content milking an outdated game engine using someone else's mode (PUBG) for basically free money. Insane amounts of free money just for being a streamer fad and adding licensed content.

Nope. Not enough. "How do we take our low-maintenance billion dollar generator and invest that money into terrible ideas and giving people free video games to 'entice' them to use our poorly made shop?"

It's like Mark Zuckerberg deciding one day: "Hey what if I took $90 billion of my Facebook money and threw it at some kooky virtual reality world for office workers?" They just can't be content with insane amounts of free money. They have to make more than they had yesterday even if the risk is so high they lose it all.

you can be discontent with your infinite money generator if you want, discontent with the current state of things is what drives innovation. but why half-ass it? apparently they threw an insane amount of money into this investment but they couldn't get a shopping cart? what? where were they throwing all the fucking money if not into improving their store?

>CS2 and Dota 2 are more popular than Fortnite
>>
>>739242561
they have been around much longer. dota is a warcraft mod. counter strike is a half life mod.
>>
>>739242561
Don't forget CS and Dota are PC only while Fortnite is on everything. Doubly humiliating for Epic.
>>
>>739242561
More than 90% of the players are bots
>>
>>739234314
>>739234403
The issue was more that Tim was trying aggressive tactics that would work in a 1990s market place. A store having exclusives and free items really only works in the physical realm. When it's one click shopping and no real work goes into mass producing the items then all of that money is just wasted as the consumer isn't going to value the exchange as worth it.
A real world example of this is what Sony did with the PlayStation in the 90s and 00s, it work because all the games and hardware were truly proprietary meaning that people were investing into your product.
>>
>>739234314

Fortnite was a surprise hit, of course they can't repeat that. Being able to maintain Fortnite that long is not nothing but maintaining a success is much easier than producing one, especially a calculated one.

>>739242643

I used to think "whoah, CS2 is always at the top the Steam chart, I'ma give it a go!!". But when I played it, like half of the players are bots spamming some pre-recorded religious stuff. Then, you also have real bots from the game, because there aren't enough players. This was during peak hours too. I think they shouldn't have made the game F2P I guess.
>>
>>739234314
Gabe, you sexy ass motherfucker, we love you!.
>>
>>739234314
You may laugh now, but here's a little reminder:
Timmy the pedo actually managed to meme many retarded publisher to use EOS online play which uses Epic EGS servers for many online games on Steam instead of using the free steamworks servers.
So once little Timmy shut down everything hundred of games will lose their online servers, including amazing games like elden ring and ever single dark souls games. FUCKING GRIM.

Because every time I want something to happen it slowly manifests over time. Expect to see Tim Sweeney castrated and raped on livestream within the next 7 years.
