/v/ is fucking terrible today, so let's have a freeware thread. Post whatever freeware you've been playing recently— fangames, overhaul mods for HL2 or Doom, doujin shit, weird itch.io indies, whatever. If you call anyone other than yourself a shill you're a faggot.
I have been playing Quarantine Crystal, preddy good Pokémon romhack and I think it's /vp/ made. The fakemon quality is surprisingly high
>>739245527>The fakemon quality is surprisingly highGot any examples?
>>739245368Freeware games should be illegal becuase you don't have to pay for it which means companies like Nintendo don't get money.
Voices of the void
PC Gamer used to run this piece called like Free Games of the Week which was cool. It's where I found out about Gang Garrison 2 and Inscryption before it was Inscryption. I think the only way to check them now after some site overhaul is the Wayback Machine.
Ill just link this guys entire itch.io page here since I think all his shmup games are pretty cool. His danmaku games have a slow-mo mechanic instead of bombs so I think theyre pretty easy to learn and the visuals and music are cute and cheerful so that it feels relaxing to play.https://nizakashii.itch.io/

Coming in here to recommend Stunt Rally again. It's made by one Polish guy obsessed with power metal. The game features 232 tracks, 33 cars, 40 environments, supports up to 6 players at once and has a robust level editor. My one caveat is that the current version (v3.x) is not at all friendly to low spec devices, so if you're like me and still running a shitbox then get v2.7 as that is the latest before he reworked the render engine. If you like time trials in fantasy worlds then you will probably enjoy Stunt Rally. I also firmly believe It's one of the few racing games to have loop-de-loops in it and make you actually feel like you're fighting against gravity while pulling it off.
>>739247016I feel like freeware racing games tend to be disproportionately high quality for whatever reason. Something about them attrats the good kind of autist.
>>739247584It is mainly because they all build off of one another. Stunt Rally is a fork of VDrift, Speed Dreams is a fork of TORCS and BeamNG could not have existed without Rigs of Rods. You can even see this with Ring Racers and SuperTuxKart. Heck, outside of driving games there's DarkPlaces and every single arena shooter it spawned, intentional or not.
>>739245368Bump for interest.
>>739246709It's a boring piece of shit.>Items aren't fun to use (you have one weapon and it's janky)>hilariously bad attempt at drama (your character has one line and it's "no dad no!")>really unsatisfying final boss and endingThe only good thing about it is the soundtrack

I know RPG Maker games tend to get a bad rep nowadays but I URGE everyone to try playing through the Towelket games. They're extremely funny/kino/based on so many levels. >>739283140>What makes it so good compared to other games? The shilling. BARafags are absurdly hostile to new players (yes, even by rts sweatlords standard) and are desperate to bring in new meat to have something easy to dab on.You will have more fun challenging a korean at Brood War than joining a BAR lobby tagged newcomers-friendly.
Been playing roguelikes again. Kimchi Crawl, Bright Nights, and Elona+ mostly.
>>739285179It's ok I'll play single player till I git gud
Anybody know where I can find old comiket/doujin games? Even a list of stuff would be nice. Before the days of slop engines, autistic japs would literally program their own engine and make niche games for comiket. I miss seeing that kind of stuff.
>>739272604this>>739284952candybox sucks. farm caps at 100 lollipops/sec but the game doesn't tell you. instead of idling, the game is about stocking up potions for ages and then using them all at once because you can't beat most quest rooms otherwise. and if you fuck up a quest you lose hours worth of potions. and there is no way to speed up the way, questing in the swamp gives you jackshit. and then there's one-offs like one-time spells that double your shit but you have no idea when to use as you don't know what's coming or how long the game even is. it's fucking annoying to play.
Holy fuck I am actually filtering BAR. Already had enough of you insufferable niggers in RTS threads.
>>739285584I'm about 99% sure it's just one extremely autistic tard doing it.
>>739272604Kittens Game and Evolve Idle are the two classics. But would also recommend proto23 for a game that's utterly incomplete but has the strongest foundation any idle game's ever achieved. Even its clones can't copy the soul.
>>739286138Ok but it's not Anti-Idle.
Time Tripper is a really good doom mod
>>739285281... there is next to no single-player content.
>>739245368Icy Tower was pretty fun for a while
>>739272604There's always antimatter dimensions. It's the kind of idler that's tough to get into if you're a brainlet, but if you aren't then it's a fun exercise in optimizing.
>>739277881I second Heroine's Quest, I'd say it's even better than the Quest for Glory games.
>>739251190>>739251190>>739251190>spelunkyShut the fuck up I never got past the jungle in that gameFuck you, fuck Konami and fuck the USA
>>739272604Universal paperclips is one of the best idle games made hands down, look nothing up about it.https://www.decisionproblem.com/paperclips/On a similar note A Dark Room is my second favorite idle games, and alongside candybox sort of birthed the name "incremental game" rather then pure idle.https://adarkroom.doublespeakgames.com/

>>739285584>REEEEEE STOP RECOMMENDING FREE GAMES YOU LIKE!No.
>>739289680The guy behind these games ported most of them to android so you can play them on your phone as well.
>meteor alert excalationhttps://www.vector.co.jp/soft/win95/game/se267039.html
>battle paintersa bit simplistic but it had a nice art style, haven't checked out their other gameshttp://www.saitogames.com/index.htm
>>739285316by no means complete but doujinstyle.com and https://doujingravity.weebly.com/doujin-games.html have a good amountif you have touhou fangames in mind I believe minerva has them all
>>739291146Thanks for the reply. Touhou fangames are nice but I want to play random crazy shit. I remember a Madoka game where you play as Homura and shoot rockets with buildings having real physics as they collapse or the shitty Fate/Zero musou clone, all of this had soul. I remember the comiket threads would have googledocs of all these games uploaded and I regret not following up on the comikets that came after.Do japs still make doujin fan games or did copyrights get stricter over there? Is it all just DLsite/steam trash?
>>739289764PC Gamer was completely trustworthy until 2011, funnily enough. That was when they gave Dragon Age 2 a stupidly high score.
>>739285584>at least three independent mentions of the game without any of them bothering to Ctrl + FYeah something is up.
>>739292078not sure about the homu game but you play as her in Grief Syndrome I don't know anything about those spreadsheets or more modern fan parodies, my knowledge is like 14 years old
W thread
I've been enjoying Monster Girl Dreams. I've just now made it up the mountain. Dancer girl had me cumming buckets.Overally can't complain since its free and art is bretty gud, but its kind of grindy and sometimes feels very esoteric with triggering scenes, to the point I've said fuck it and used the wiki just to figure it out
Been playing Holocure again since it randomly got popular again. It's fun.
I miss when Free Lunch Design made different games than Icy Tower. Alex 4 was my jam.
I like sonic before and after the sequel
>>739297563what was so bad during the sequel that you didn't like
>>739297962chemical plant zone was too hard
>>739272604I liked cividle because it is more active than typical idle games, since there are resource chains and a lot of the wonders have special rules to manage, like adjacency bonuses. The game is technically free but free players can only access 1 of the premium civs at a time, it changes every week. But maybe that's not as idle as you'd like.
>>739249570Good game I liked the art and puzzles for this game.
if you're a fan of mmbn games try shanghai.exevery high quality for a fangame must recommend
Just in case there's any fighting game enthusiasts herehttps://bvtaisei.itch.io/angels-of-battlehttps://gamejolt.com/games/TheLastGeneration/162958Not a fan of the genre myself so can't say much on the quality, but the second one is a rather amusing looking smash clone that has a huge and rather weird selection of various anime characters, including Lelouch and CC from Code Geass, Lucy from Elfen Lied, Mia from that monstergirl anime and more, some being awkward 3D renders seemingly done just for this game. And speaking of, I remember there being an old fanmade Elfen Lied fighting game that was never translated, but I lost my copy of it with the harddrive, and can't find it now.
>>739297209you will feel better once you get to the temple
>>739254178Little fighter 2? Wasn't that called N The Way of the Ninja
>>739283671>Nitronic RushDistance was such a fucking letdown.
>>739305447that's a pic of N v2.0Yes, that old infographic is fucked up and nobody fixed it over the years.
>>739289979they have ads that you can't pay to get rid of, fuck that guy
>>739283923>eXobloat
SRB2 and BYOC
>>739254178Lol, I made a Let's Play of An Untitled Story back in like 2010. FlaiL was so hard. Swear I played 60% of these. In the same vein, the Jumper games were so good. At least Jumper and Jumper Redux. Didn't much care for 2 or 3.
>>739306457What's your casual-friendly alternative?
