I enjoy the Library personally. You can get into a relaxing rhythm with the shotgun while kiting flood around, finding opportunities to get a cluster of them at once with a frag grenade. The only unfair part is that one rocket flood hiding around a bit of geometry after one of the blast doors opens that can point blank you the moment you turn a corner, all the others are put at a long distance where you can see a rocket coming and move to the side.

In the past such irreverent scumfuckers were known to be unserious people and were treated as such. They usually fell in line.
In postmodernity such people are taken seriously and they will pretend like you’re crazy for holding to a worldview that isn’t plastic eating irreverence and idolatry towards material consumerism. Bungie halo was a product too, granted. It had a military that behaved like a frat house. Gay jokes made with the elites, grunts behaving like idiotic 12 year olds. Yet it usually kept the worst of it behind a joke skull or if you do weird shit in game like staring at people for too long. There was a degree of buy in expected for all its goofy bullshit. Granted, some of this was because of the music carrying and how they let you be alone for long spans of time in a way that let the dread of the flood or the halo rings potentially firing build up in your mind, or constantly having to scan for stealth elites or worry about the next hunter ambush or snipers (and so on) while by yourself on a suicide mission to kill a prophet saying cult leader shit. A mission that ends with the covenant trying to glass you from orbit. There are a lot of unsettling moments that drip into horror, the levity of us marines drowned out by the, dying off one by one. Stuff sped from Aliens? Perhaps, but they copied that mood and did something different with it. And it was building from in a way that was inspired rather than derivative in the way 343i lifting whole game systems from other games did.
