>"I have the high gro-ACK!"
Why didnt Anakin just force pull Obi into the lava.
>>739261715...and then anakin woke up in the suit.
>Have this character that obviously goes to the Dark Side.>Spend a whole cartoon series amping him up while exploring a lot of really cool planets, races, and villains.>Have a perfect cast for literally every single character.>You know what happens to him, and you can't explore a different reality where he just wakes up from a shared dream and ignores the Dark Side.Anakin is a good character that gets boned because his future was made before his past. I think it's a big part why people say they don't like the prequels. You have to make a character likeable just to plot twist him into making the stupidest decisions imaginable. Like, this well trained Jedi is going to trade his whole life to kill a bunch of kids? How would that not get in the way of his relationship? Why can't he find a workaround in the Light Side?
>>739261843He wanted to kill Obi-Wan using the same move that Obi-Wan used to defeat Darth Maul to prove that he could. Could Anakin have just overpowered Obi-Wan with the Force like Dooku did? Probably. But Anakin was on the good shit at the time and wasn't thinking clearly.
>>739261843Jedi can't normally just force push/pull each other unless the other person is distracted or has much weaker control over the Force. Jedi fights look like two guys either standing around doing nothing or dancing-fighting because they are constantly:>looking into the future and seeing where the other guy will swing his lightsaber>grappling with the Force to gain more control over it than their opponent>trying to physically outspeed or distract their opponent to force an unblockable attack or rip the Force away from their opponentThere are exceptions, like how Sidious can throw lightning at people and most of them don't know how to use the Force or a lightsaber to effectively block it, but even then there is usually an easy way to block tricks like that, as we see in the movies where Yoda, Mace, and Obi-Wan easily block that attack.
>>739266209>earlier in the same movie
>>739266209thats a gigantic mental gymnastics
>>739261843he forgot
>>739266429Sith lords are our speciality.
>>739266429Doesn't contradict anything. Earlier in that fight, there's a cut to Palpatine's face immediately before Dooku pushes Obi-wan, to imply he's subtly rigging the fight to force Anakin into a 1v1. And even if he isn't, Dooku is the same guy who cut off Anakin's arm and beat them in a 2v1 situation once already; he's portrayed as being strong enough to use force powers on Jedi against their will. By contrast, Anakin and Obi-wan are repeatedly depicted as being about equal in strength by the time of RotS, both in the movie and the Clone Wars materials.>>739266487Welcome to Star Wars discussion. It's been this way for decades.
>>739261843Key things shown in the film and elaborated on in the novelization:1. Anakin not once throughout the fight until hes actually had his limbs chopped off has Sith Eyes. There is still a conflict of light and dark fighting inside him. 2. Obi-Wan knows how Anakin fights and vice-versa. The duel is less about power and more about overcoming the bonds of familiarity from a former mentor, friend and father figure. 3. Unless theres a huge disparity between the duelists e.g. if Yoda was fighting Ventress, Jedi cant normally push or force pull items or their opponent away without significant concentration. As all duels are as much a mental fight as a physical one. Furthermore they both tried earlier to force push each other and cancelled each other out.
>Obi-Wan fights Sith Lords four times in the Prequels>literally half of the fights end with him being yeeted by the Force against his will
>>739262797>vader bragging about his powergo back and clean the emperor's toilet you second fiddle
>>739267227He's just not that strong, not in terms of raw power at least.

>>739267048This. I always thought that to force push/pull, you need the opponent to be distracted/lose focus, even if just for a few seconds

>>739267528Obi-Wan was locked in against Darth Maul and Darth Maul just gives him a shove into the pit.

>>739267593>carried the prequelsThat would be CIS
>>739267593>enter Ian McDiarmid
>>739261843Anakin was too pissed to think straight. He MIGHT have had enough power to do so, but he was too angry to think, and that proved his ruin.
Just be like Windu>Spot a retard>Crush his lungs in ~2 secondsThere. No need for dueling.
>>739267528Remember that force users also have precognition. You are trying to outpredict your opponents next moves which ties back into the fights being mental as well as physical. If your opponent sees you plan to execute a devious force push they can possibly dodge it or prepare and counterattack accordingly.
>>739261843Obi Wan was simply more skilled at dueling than Anakin. Force potential didn't really factor into it.
>>739267583Obi Wan was fighting with rage. Maul was literally playing with him at that point.

>>739269168>when the post-kill clarity hits you
>>739266487Yeah, no shit. It's Star Wars autism. Vader canonically has a lightsaber that can change its length depending on the situation because the OT had inconsistent visuals.
>>739269165>>739269247At the beginning of the movie Anakin is quite similar to his characterization in TCW. If you look closely, his behavior changes after he has the nightmare about Padme. I think it makes sense that the Anakin in TCW is completely different from the one in the movies, since in that period he was married with the girl he always loved and is quite happy, whereas in Episode II he's a horny teenager who desires Padme, and in most of Episode III he's afraid of losing her.
>It's over, Obi-Wan! I have the high ground!
>>739269548>Vader canonically has a lightsaber that can change its length depending on the situationThis reminds me that Square Enix canonically did this for Sephiroth's Masamune with the Ever Crisis game.
>>739269658Genndy Wars Anakin always seemed a much more seamless transitory Episode II-III Anakin to me than TCW's Han Solo with a sword and the Force portrayal.

So whatever happened to Anakin's and Luke's severed limbs?Appendages from such legendary characters must have surely been kept by someone, right?
>>739270132Anakin's legs and arm rolled into the lava river as he tumbled down the sandbank. I suppose the arm on Geonosis probably would have been recoverable. You'd think they'd have the medical technology to just reattach it after Dooku bailed.

>>739267583That can be explained by obi wan being a shitter padawanThe real plot hole of that fight's choreography is how Obi-wan's final flip attack even worked. It was slow as hell. Darth maul had like a solid two seconds to react but he just fucking fluoride stared while obi-wan did an undefended arc to land right next to him.
>>739270658Obi-Wan was not a shitter Padawan. He was a Jedi Knight in all but name. Qui-Gon Jinn told him like three scenes before the fight that there was nothing else for Qui-Gon to teach him.
>>739270132Luke's was found by some weird jedi that worked with Thrawn and they gave it to the Emperor. They made Luuke with that.

>>739269787Do you just not like cartoons? TCW is really good, and suspension of disbelief is easy to do to connect the movies (but I think TCW has better acting than he prequels). Han Solo is a solemn character -- nothing like peak Anakin.

>>739270471How is Vader so shitty after losing Padme and proving that his life was better on the Light Side? Nothing done for the Dark Side ever amounts to anything.

>>739282537I do like the fact that the Jedi are so high off of their own farts that in-universe they were arrogant, conceited and hypocritical, but it really does get annoying how deeply it seeps into literally everything in the prequels. The Dark Side corrupts and is easy to be lured into, but trying to claim a moral high ground after their involvement in the Clone Wars while very much deciding on a whim to play assassin ambassadors, work the underground and and act as super soldiers for their own explicit interests in the name of "the greater good" isn't really much better. Especially the more you find out about some of the shit they did or turned a blind eye to.

>>739286403All Jedi (and Sith) use precognition when they fight, in the same way Anakin used it to fly a podracer as a child. It's not so much glimpsing the future as it is feeling out what is about to happen through the Force.

>>739279285This might surprise you, but most fights, whether in movies, books, plays, or real life, aren't power meters like in anime and pure stat based video games where higher number wins. People have strengths and weaknesses, and those can be exploited. It's kind of like Rock, Paper, Scissors, Gun, Dynamite, Lightning, Fire, Devil, Dragon, Snake, Tree, Sponge, Wolf, Water, etc, etc, etc, except there is also a special rule that says, "There is always a non-insignificant chance that a losing hand will actually win because of any number of reasons that might crop up including something as simple as a bead of sweat sliding down the back of one of the fighters ears causing them to be distracted for 1ms."
>>739289158The Prequels actually put in the work for this down to having had fight chorography tier lists for how complex to make the fights and what forms they use.But despite that it also set up perfectly why Anakin wasn't able to beat Obi-Wan.Obi-Wan uses a defensive fighting style meant to counter raw aggression, which isn't that good against proper duelists like Dooku, but was good against Anakin, on top of him training Anakin himself and knowing all his moves meaning that he was basically the perfect counter.
>>739282537>picbased chosen one
I re-watched RotJ for the first time in a while recently, and I don't really know how to explain it properly but there was something about Luke's entire arc of going>"I won't kill Vader, I can feel the good in him, I know that my father is still deep down in there somewhere and that he can be saved."that felt even more impactful after these last 10-15 years where it feels like it would be impossible to see that same idea expressed in any kind of movie nowadays. I think it's just the genuine sincerity behind it, you know what I mean?
>>739290427Culture has become highly transactional with the objective of removing friction from ones personal life. And so the act of enduring the complexities of another who wishes to do you harm. out of love, stands out.Even more so when the narrative embraces that stance as the correct one and rewards the protagonist for taking it.
>>739285054You should look up the kyber crystal story arc. >Praising shit that was TCWYeah, we know that you were a dumb teen during 10s and now you feel the effects of nostalgia.
>>739298050Have you read about his adventures? He was constantly fucking everything up and needed help.
>>739298050Doesn't matter. Anakin was a dark side super saiyan when he attacked the jedi temple. He was weaker against obi wan on mustafar because of his internal struggle and doubts. Vader is weaker than anakin any way you slice it.
>>739298079??? I'm talking about Ep 1-3

>>739298050I wonder how many of them begged to suck his dick and eat his shit if he would spare them
>>739297957You got a mention of "Clone Wars" as soon as the very first damn movie.
>>739298132>>739298079Oh wait I just realized you didn't know Thrawn predates the prequelskeep LARPing zoomie, lmao
>>739298010>invents CoruscantHe didn't. Imperial city planet had already been created for Return of the Jedi by George Lucas and Ralph McQuarrie. It was named Had Abbadon. He just came up with a different name that Lucas had to be persuaded to use.>fleshes out the Clone Wars so Lucas can make more moviesAbsolutely nothing like the Clone Wars that Lucas actually ended up making.>foreshadows the Yuuzhan VongLol.Utter slop.
>>739298132I'm talking overall about the thread.
>>739298089Dark Times Vader fucks up because he's still too driven by raw emotion and accepting his new role as Palpatine's thug but he still slaughters everything he comes across. Even when he blunders into a trap and a whole group of Jedi almost kill him he still gets most of them himself.
Vader is a jobber, he literally only exists to put him in EU media to show how strong the hero is for beating him
>>739296136>>739297475Didn't Zahn do this same thing for the not-Jedi that Thrawn found in the sekrit Palpatine storage room place
>>739261843the film explains it, although briefly. Obi-Wan said that Siths are proud creatures, so when Obi-Wan says he has the high ground, he was teasing Anakin's ego. And Anakin, now turned a Sith, fell for it.This is also the reason why Obi-Wan said "don't try" just after that, it was a trap that he hoped Anakin would notice.
>>739298409No he found the clone already cloned, he was vehemently against cloning more Jedi because they're damn near uncontrollable
>>739298478I was referring mostly to the "original name... but with 1 more letter in it!!" thing since all I can remember is Thrawn going "he's pronouncing it differently and I should know because I read that report" or whatever, but I can't remember his name..
>>739298560Yes that is the naming scheme for clones, the dude is called Joruus and is a clone of Jorus. Shit's retarded
>>739261843Because Anakin is cocky and largely wanted to defeat Obi-Wan is mostly pure lightsaber combat. Also too full of rage and conflicting emotion to think straight that was exacerbated by the fact that Mustafar was influencing both him and Obi-Wan with dark side energies.
Sith lords are our specialtyDoesn’t realise he’s talking to one
>>739274927he was the best part of those flaming trainwreck obi wan and asokha series. I would even say his acting was great.
Why can you just step on the galaxy's most powerful crime lord's tail and he won't say shit about it?
>>739298585Timothy... you're a damn genius...
>they mixed sam witwer's screams into maul's lightsaber sound designdamn that's metal
>>739298689Actually I can't remember if there were any more jedi clones that Zahn wrote outside of those two, so I could cope and say it's just because C'baoth is insane and his Luke clone was his apprentice
When is our hero coming back?
Should I replay Jedi Outcast? Played it as a kid and all I remember is that there were a bunch of guns that all immediately become irrelevant when you get a lightsaber
>>739298838Play the entirety of Dark Forces
>>739298768Never
>>739286567based image
>>739298892Even back in the early 2000s people told me only JO and JA are worth playing
OBI WAN PLEASE. I'LL SUCK YOUR DICK. I'LL EAT SHIT
>>739286523>zoomersMost Star Wars fans are likely older than you
>>739298737On the other hand imagine a Clone Trooper named Jaango or Jangoo.
>be Disney>fucks up Star Wars beyond recognition>baby yeet and fag movie is good as dead on release>somehow keeps Filoni as head of loreI wish I could burn down multi-billion franchise down.
>>739298893>very clearly gets killed by Grievous in 2D series>literally stabbed with a lightsaber>somehow survived off-screen and brought back in the comics>suvives the entire war>survives the dark times>survives the original trilogy>doesn't do anything>randomly shows up 150 years after the movies with his own Jedi school to train Luke's drug addict eyeliner wearing unwashed hair stinky faggot darth vader pants wearing descendantThis is more egregious than anything in the disney era. Ostrander is a hack.
>>739298939DF2 is good and with 1 ya got shit level design.
Sithspit.
>>739299203Your efforts are in vain
How many Cyborg Jedi Hunters has Obi-wan killed?
>>739291432Only in Outcast/Academy.What a wonderful world.
>>739299280Two.
>>739299390That last one was a two-parter so it kinda counts as three.
>>739299071>>baby yeet and fag movie is good as dead on releasethey made a movie out of this shit?
>>739268759Macebros...
>>739298893That isn't Dass Jennir
>>739299458Not even their shills like it and tracking poorly at the box office. Kreia was right, apathy is death.
>>739266429Force users can "shield" themselves from Force attacks to some degree, they can either reduce or block their effect. You can break through their defenses if you're massively stronger in the Force (i.e. a random Padawan trying to resist Sidious would be moot, Sidious would just ragdoll them) or if you catch your opponent off-guard.
>>739301123Holy fuck this movie comes out tomorrow? There was absolutely zero hype to it. Theres absolutely nothing to be felt about a franchise that used to be eternally discussed BEFORE the actual 2 hour movie released.
>>739288850God i love me some seppies.I wish they were explored deeper instead of being a comical evil that was designed to be discarded. They were right in calling out the Republic's shit.Imagine if Palps somehow got assassinated during the CW.
>>739273975okay now this is fucking great
>>739274532Shattered Glass is a good movie
>>739302517Where is there to go with them besides a 50/50 split of people who had legitimate grievance with the Republic and power hungry leaders who wanted to be top dog?
>>739292227kekUnironically, it would be a sick sith relic, full of negative emotions.
>>739273975KINOOOOOOO
>>739303236>50/50 split of people who had legitimate grievance with the Republic and power hungry leaders who wanted to be top dogSounds like every single chinese civil war they've ever had.

>>739290427It works because the originals used classic tropes, played them straight and well. Luke's redemption of Vader combines The Hero's Journey, christian redemption ethos and paternal love all in a neat package. Luke had grown from being a whiny kid in Tatooine and sometimes outright hateful of Vader at times for his wrongdoings into taking the high ground and accepting that a person can correct their wrongdoings no matter how far off they are. He's mature as a person and as a jedi. This is contrasted by the Emperor being the absolute evil, pitting father and son against each other for his own personal gain. And yet when offered power and revenge, Luke doesn't accept it, which reminds Vader of what he once stood for, and acts to save his son.And of course it ends with Vader turning back into Anakin Skywalker, so we finally see the man and not the black knight as his force ghost.Of course, a modern writer (hell it was considered bad writing by critics back when George wrote it) would roll their eyes so much it would roll back to where it started. The Hero's Journey is too cliche, traditional family and christian values are disliked by most people on Hollywood.I think ROTJ is the worst one of the originals (not bad per se) but that's the part of it that I like the most.
>>739290427because in the end especially after the Prequels, for all his secret machinations and plots and schemes that have gone off with barely a hitch, for all his near-omnipotent foresight and vision, the one thing that destroys the emperor, the one thing he has no forewarning or knowledge of, was a father's love for his own son, the tiny spark of Anakin which was kindled back to life by Luke's unwavering belief he can be a good man still
>>739270562>fell down a chute on a place that's hovering a gas giant, irrecoverable as wellDidn't stop that orange alien from finding Anakin's lightsaber in the Disney films.
