I've been playing the latest Clock Tower ripoff that came out last night and you fuckers are going to come talk about it with me.
>>739303580What is it?
So, it's really faithful to the original because I spent all night playing it and all my progress is useless because a glitch wiped my save file. A game hasn't done that to me in years. It was so fucking obtuse, it was great. You'll get stuck because you had the right key for the door all along but it only works after a certain point, and why would you try a key in a door that already told you it wouldn't work? Game doesn't even explain how saving works but eventually I figured it out. It's got grade A bullshit like not being allowed to use your lighter to burn stuff directly but you have to find a candle and light that and then use that to burn stuff. There's a hidden timer in the upper left corner that isn't explained but I'm pretty sure there's a time factor to the game and if you don't figure stuff out fast enough you get locked out of stuff too.I actually had the game when it was in early access and I played it a bit and solved some puzzles then, but either I've gotten dumber or they've changed the solutions to the puzzles on top of everything else. I dunno why everyone is trying to make games easier instead of making them frustrating and stupid and unfair, they're better that way. Like what they did with Paranormsight 2.okay those are my remarks, you can go back to seething about europe and water and homelander.

I will never play an indie game that wannabes a classic series. Same with all the cringe Ace Attorney ripoffs.Inspiration is one thing. Do be inspired, do pay homage etc. but how hard is it to make your own damn concept, instead of "Western Anime" graphics and the same exact setup as the original games.Even just playing Clock Tower Rewind on Switch is painful to me because Wayforward injected themselves so hard into the remaster, with their stupid californian animator basically redrawing herself as Jennifer in the new cutscenes.Just stop with the "Western Anime" shit, and make games that aren't incestuously derivative of other games.
>>739304493It's kind of a weird stance, particularly in Clock Tower, since they blatantly ripped off Jennifer Connelly. So it's been derivative since the beginning. But no one "owns" a whole genre. Under your ignorant perspective, every slasher movie after Halloween would be banned. We already had one Slasher so we don't need Jason or Freddy or GhostFace or whoever. The seeds of the haunted house/evil orphanage extend way beyond 1995 so I suggest you go and culture yourself a bit more before speaking on such topics to avoid the blatant appearance of ignorance.
>>739304045Oooooooo, I'll check it out. Haven't played a Clock Tower-like in awhile.
if you refuse to talk about video games I will just post Jennifer Connelly.
>>739305494i don't want to talk about videogames so i will join you
>>739304851>It's kind of a weird stance, particularly in Clock Tower, since they blatantly ripped off Jennifer Connelly. So it's been derivative since the beginning.A game can be as derivative of film as it wants. But nothing is more incestuous than new gen developers just trying to remake their childhood favorite video games, and not moving an inch further.I have so much more respect for developers who know how to develop their own voice, than all these indie wannabes who don't have a real game creation in them, but just wish they had made the game they loved so much. There's a much greater fantasy in watching a movie and dreaming about how that could be a video game, than play a video game and fantasize like "what if I was the one who made THAT?"
>>739305664it's always a pleasure
>>739304045Dude I've been watching a ton of Midnight Special lately. What a great fucking show that was.

>>739305762Do you pick your retarded opinions of the day by throwing darts at a wall, or what?>today I'm going to be against...video games ripping off video games but I'll be in favour of....video games ripping off movies.
>>739306523I'm just being honest. Sorry if I disrupted your astroturf thread, but I speak the truth here. I think many will agree with me.
>>739305762Clock Tower is just a slasher movie as a video game what are you on about
>>739307323fucking woosh
I enjoyed clock tower but I have zero desire to ever play an indie rip off of itI play indie rip offs of some other genres/formulas but clock tower gameplay isn't interestingwhat's interesting is it was a weird argento adaptation running on the snes, unique for its time
>Clock Tower was an original ripoff but all these other ripoffs are just ripoffsYou are wrong and I order you to stop having that stupid opinion.
>>739303580question for someone who platyed clocktower 2 as a childwhy didnt the nigga with scissors just run at you?
I got every ending recently. Ending S, the only one with any of your friends surviving, has them saying no dialogue at all... so basically Ending A or B are better but I also like kicking Ms Mary off the ladder.
>>739307789In the original game he was an evil deformed black magic baby along with his fat brother. In the PS1 game he just hobbles around like a schizo.
>>739307789Scissors are too large and he is a midget. They are too heavy and unwieldy to run with.
>>739308890>>739308182i thought it was an old man or some shit when i was a kidit canonically a midget?
>>739306995>I'm just being honest. No you're just being stupid.
>>739303580what exactly is supposed to be new about it vs the original or rewind?
oh i misread
>>739303580Which of the 2 versions of the mouse control hack should I patch the rom with? The zip file contains two different patches
>>739310290Rewind has cringe "how to draw manga" style western faux anime cutscenes
whelp I just found out there's an official novelization so that's what I'm doing now.
for me it's tenebris somnia
>>739307924I don't think I ever really beat it. But I played it enough to count, I think.
>>739310567huh, this book is claiming that Jennifer's Father was the obstetrician who delivered the evil scissorman twins, and they bit off his hand shortly after birth, and then they killed him and put him in some wall in the clock tower.
>>739313487oh shit this just turned into a choose your own adventure book, I thought I was reading a normal book.
I am entitled to discussion about Clock Tower and it's derivatives.
I dunno where this confusion about scissorman's gender is coming from. He doesn't wear a mask. Whatever. Scissorperson it is.
this is the first time a book has given me a ranking screen at the end
Clock Tower SNES? It was pretty okay, but really basic. Once you understand the hiding spots, it's pretty easy to just go through the options.
>>739307495Clock Tower is just Resident Evil minus the useless mobs in the corridors in between keys.
>>739316837k. keep me posted. let me know immediately about the things clock tower is.
>>739307717Are you stupid? Clock Tower has an original game design. Yes the plot and some setpieces are obviously lifted straight from Argento and others, but it's a unique game. Making another game that copies this one's style completely is just derivative.
>>739305762I understand your point but I still disagree fundamentally. Competition is always good, copyright laws are an abomination that does not benefits consumers. Even if a gamedev makes a copy that's 1% better than the original it's already a win.
I love the first 2 Clock Tower games to death but I've yet to play a successor game that hits the same spot. So far I've tried Remothered, NightCry, and Clock Tower 3. They all suck. I am planning on playing Haunting Ground soon, but I needed a break from Capcom after how shit Clock Tower 3 was. idk if it's considered a Cloxk Tower clone but I'm also going to play Rule of Rose, which has a lot of odd similarities with Haunting Ground. They both start off pretty promising so hopefully I'll finally find an actually good Clock Tower like.
