Just had my first death due to two mistakes. First was finding one of those mini pods with crates in it and seeing that this one had window blocks I could bust out and prone my way in through, only to discover that the sloped floor inside it prevented me from getting a good angle to make my way back out once inside. Second was not realizing that when you load a save game, you apparently need to recheck the box to remove the time limit (I did that because I wanted time to familiarize myself with the game since it was my first run) or the game will just re-enable it mid-run, so while I was trying to puzzle my way out of the pod, I heard spooky music start up and saw the radline coming down on what I realized was about to be my little guy's metal coffin (I pussied out and quit to main menu because I didn't want to see him get microwaved to death).Seriously though, hearing that music creep in and then seeing the line slowly come onto screen from the top is seriously spooky shit, no wonder that one Expie in that note panicked so hard when they encountered it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL73bn2PAAA

I tried to cheese an unlucky death from a run where i had tons of good loot by using recuva to bring back the save.sv file somewhere, then closed the game, copied it into the save folder and opened it again. On booting the game and hitting continue, it did not work and i was hit with a bunch of errors in the console i didn't understand. Just in case anyone needs confirmation: the strategy of looking at every possible corpse right out of the pod to desensitize your expie to seeing them absolutely works. Just be sure to do this while you're still at the first layer where you can stuff yourself with easy geofruit everywhere to get happy. If you go out of your way to look at every corpse early on, soon your guy will give so little fucks about them that he'll literally start cracking jokes and getting mood boosts from seeing the dead people around him. I just got myself the ^^ eyes (+50 happiness) naturally and without drugs for the first time by doing this
