I’m probably the smartest Steam Controller user alive, yet I still have this horrible realization: did I really pay $75 just to get laptop touchpads on the left and right side of a controller instead of buying an Xbox controller for $20?
>>739809776why did you repost this?>>>/g/108925563
we warned you in every threadbuy an xbox controllerits the gold standard
>>739809776touchpads are neat, i learned that from having a dual sense (on pc)
>>739809776GETONMYLEVEL
>>739810524lol, first thing I did on dual sense was to disable that useless piece of shit in the middletouhpads are the most useless gimmicks ever
I just have the series controller and all I did was solder the joysticks off and replace them with some TMR sticks. Recalibrated and they've been amazing.Use Eneloop Pros and lasts a very long time. MY motherboard has built in onboard Bluetooth so I connect that way.
>set up trackpads for menus in gachaslop, it's shit>set up trackpads for WoW, it's shit>set up trackpads for ADS first person shooter, gyro does most of the work and joystick feels better with it>doomscrolling with it feels awfulLook guys I am really trying to justify my 100€ but so far I found zero good usage for those trackpads, maybe those virtual menus?
>>739810758I had a steam deck for a while the 64GB that I upgraded to 1tb with a mod but anyways. Never once used the trackpads for anything. >Desktop modeI just connected a cheap $10 wireless mouse.
God niggas do really still use first party shit? Use some shit with TMR, we are not in 2010 anymore.Yeah I too owned x360, xone, xseries controllers and every single one drifts, has wobbly sticks or mushy garbage face buttons. I use a cyclone 2 and it's been the shit. Never looked back, xone is covered in dust since I owned that - now a perpetual player 2 controller.
>>739810524They are only useful for playing ARPG with a mouse pointer, but if you'd rather use gyro or mouse, there's absolutely no utility to the touchpads. >inbf but i can map actions to the touchpadYou can map actions to chord keys too (back button+abxy for example) and they feel much better because you're not using a flat surface with 0 feedback.
>>739810904Because 3rd party controllers feel like plastic shit. When I put the Xbox Series or the DualSense 5 into my hands it actually feels like a product.I put my GameSarr G7 Pro in my hands and it feels like straight up dogshit. It has the bells and whistles but feels like a cheap plastic toy from a happy meal.Thats why I soldered TMR sticks into my Series controller.
>>739810758you can assing them for item selection overlay in thief
>>739810904I'm not poor, I prefer potentiometer because it feels better compared to HE and TMR. I'd rather have 2-3 gamepads a year that feel good to the hand than have 1 gamepad for 5 years that feels like shit.
>/v/ has mined twitter so fucking dry it has to scrape /g/ for shitposts
>>739809776LMAO gottemYour money will go to gaybens next yacht for the epstein class to party on.
>>739810758I'm really starting to have doubts of buying a Steam controller when a Gamesir Tegenaria looks to be more than enough of a replacement for my old DualShock 3.
>>739811345>Gamesir Tegenaria that stiff cable wire looks like a nightmare to use
>>739811187Man I really really hate the Gold missions. Downwind was so bad that it killed a replay.
>>739811723I just hate thiefI hate that the guards will always hear your footsteps unless you walk on matress
>>739810263more like fucking bog standardxinput is the bronze age tool of controllers.
>>739809776Im probably the smartest normal Controller user alive, yet I still wonder if the 250Hz polling rate is a bit on the low side and if I shouldnt have got a controller with 1000Hz instead?
>>739810758>doomscrolling with it feels awfulrebind left joystick and trackpad to both have up and down replaced by mouse wheel up and mouse wheel down, then enable "hold to repeat (turbo)The entire selling point of the controller is the customisability of the buttons, sticks, and trackpads, if something doesn't feel right to you, then change it, you have a ridiculous level of things you can make it do, like >>739811187 showing that you can use the trackpads as customised radial menus in older PC games that used 1-9 on the keyboard to select weapons/spells/inventory items, and I think this is the best use for them in older games, as well as setting custom macros on the radial menu (for example I play a lot of nightreign, and to use an item off the ground without adding it to your inventory first you have to hold the interact button and press up on the d-pad, I just made that a macro to save me time because that game is heavily timing-based
>>739809776>xbox controller for $20are you talking about an old, second hand controller? Or a cheap chinese knock-off? because both will fail in a few months and you will have wasted your money, whilst also having none of the functionality that a steam controller has (no touchpads, no gyro, no back buttons, no customisability, etc)
>>739809776Xbox controllers ship with broken unusable API and lack post-90s controller features.>>739811890Xinput is a society where everything is made of lead and mercury. The 360 intentionally fucked up its DirectInput implementation to force devs to add Xinput, 3rd party drivers for the 360 controller had parity with Xinput on Directinput for everything but the microphone.
