ITT: Post games people pretend are good but no one has actually played
>>
>>739981993
I played that, it was pretty good
>>
>>739981993
I have played it, it's honestly not that good and more one of those "good for the time" games.
Games like X:COM aged far better imo

admit it, none of you beat it if you even played it at all.
>>
>>739981993
Pic unrelated?
It's an unreal tournament clone bro anyone can just play it, you go run around and go pew pew and sometimes crawl in a vent or talk to chinese people
>>
>people actually picked up this stealth game with horrible shooting and thought it was a game for shooting

See, it's the opposite for me. Xcom's replaced X:COM to me despite being an old bastard, but Deus Ex remains fun. Even playing something like Xpiratez hurts despite using modern X:COM mods and updates, and even if the interface was working perfectly I much prefer the 2 action system compared to the AP system. Replayed Deus Ex with the Revision mod (Recommended you disable the awful new models but up to you) a couple times in the last few years and it's still fun as fun. Some of that is probably due to knowing the game and knowing what's fun though, a new player will probably choose stealth rather than gigachad cyber-jedi and won't even know how wrong he's being. I know, because for my first Deus Ex run I also went heavy on stealth and thought it was the way to play
>>
>>739981993
I played it, I thought the voice acting was ass, I thought the level design was over complicated for no reason, I thought the combat was beyond ass
>>
Combat is the game's fail state you clowns. All of the game's level design is for finding ways to avoid it. Of course a game feels bad if you play through the entire thing in constant fail state.
>>
>>739981993
I played it recently. It was a great game.
>>
>>739981993
I played few levers, but lack of gore was too unsatisfying.
>>
>>739981993
Played it for the first time recently and it was genuinely one of the best games I've ever played

I have a 9800x3D and 4080 and i'm playing through this game again. did gmdx last time, now trying revision but with vanilla maps on.

it has aged VERY well. also, amazing soundtrack.
>>
In the past month I have played it twice. Once vanilla once GMDE, which is great.
>>
The throwing knives are fun.
Instead of letting Maggie Chow run her bullshi I pepper sprayed her and her maid, smashed the window behind her, threw a throwing knife at her head and she fell backwards out I couldnt believe it.
Watched her splat on the street below. Pepper sprayed the maid again then left.

I've played it dozens of times. Last time was last month when I did a full nonlethal playthrough. I was surprised that Gunther's lines change in a couple of places much later in the game if you don't kill Anna, even though the only way to not kill her is to use a glitch. I guess they originally planned to give you more options.

You can tell a lot about a person, both good and bad, by what they think deus ex “got right” about the future.

The combat is great if you plan it out, just triggering an alarm and trying to wing it can be resource heavy.

someone explain to me the absolutely insane amount of hate the announced remastered received in the youtube comments? Now it's been put on ice because it's been trashed so much.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1RdKezTYNk

I just want a freaking playable port I don't care for 2026 graphics, because the one on steam is virtually unplayable (unless you use a 3rd party solutions but I'm too lazy to bother with that these days).

I guess the price was going to be a bit high for a very basic remaster (30$ or something), but I would have been fine with that kind of remaster.

You can let Simons live in the ocean lab only to encounter him in area 51 later

>>739985701
Yeah but that's clearly intended. He even has a new set of lines there.
But escaping Unatco HQ should be impossible without killing Anna, because there's a locked and indestructible door and Alex will not give you the key until Anna is dead. The only way to bypass it afaik is to throw a non-lethal grenade near Anna before she sees you to make her panic run towards the door and open it for you. For some reason she's still afraid of gas grenades despite being completely immune to them.
>>
>>739985701
I actually flinched when he turned that corner in area 51
Could not for the life of me take him down woth anything other than a GEP rocket

dude fuck that maid, I always taser the shit out of her every run

>>739981993
I love that obvious reverse psychology works so well on /v/; post a hate thread about a game to get the people who like it to actually post instead of just the random contrarian shitters who have never actually played a video game in their lives
>>
Finally doing a maxed lock picking stealth ninja run, no hacking or electronics
Because after two playthroughs i know where all the data pads are im sitting on 20 multitools in Hong Kong i haven't had to use. Crazy.
>>
>>739985857
you know, I've done a lot of that kind of stuff in the past, I'm sure it's an easy fix but these days I'm so backlogged on games anyway and I've got a fair bit amount of disposable income so if I'm going to play your game you better hand it over to me on a silver platter
id Software did an amazing job with their classic games and for free, so I know it can be done
but hey I just might make an exception for Deus Ex one of these days
>>
>>739982467
The maps are not over complicated at all.
Its just for the past 20 years developers have dumbed games down to the point where an alternate route its some groundbreaking concept

Deus Ex is not clunky at all.
Its crazy how smooth and fluid traversal and combat is with keyboard and mouse and a high refresh rate monitor.
Now when I played it on PS2....aiming in motion was a chore...20fps..criminally long loading screen every reload or death..
>>

the absolute state of snoy moviegamers
>>
>>739986748
>id Software did an amazing job with their classic games and for free, so I know it can be done
And nobody would complain if that was done to Deus Ex. But instead they were going to ask for 30 bucks for pic related.
>>
I remember playing this as a kid and thinking it was just a badass game where you play as the Matrix and go around exploring cities and shooting bad guys. I was just blown away at the technical quality of the game. Then I grow up and find out that it was also le heckin based right wing game. I don’t give a fuck about you zoomers and your political brainrot, I just think this game was fun
>>
>>739982462
I never even realized it was a stealth game, personally. I always just went in guns blazing and shot every fucker on sight. Needless to say, Paul was always angry at mr
>>
Its wild that Perfect Dark and Deus Ex released within a month or two of each other. Both games having a Headquarters Hub, Cyberpunk Dystopia, City Streets. Area 51, boarding a plane, a Lab below the ocean...aliens etc
>>
>>739987218
In my day, international peacekeepers were citizens first and soldiers second. You can forget about that extra ammo. I'm only going to give you the multitools; I think you should concentrate more on mission objectives and less on the enemy body count.
>>
>>739981993
the story material and presentation was strong enough for me to tough out the somewhat unpolished moment to moment gameplay. I liked the concept of everything but specific minutia of guards, and roleplay stats affecting your actions, I could take it or leave it.
>>
>>739986196
>dude fuck that maid
I wish. Deus Ex mod with LLM support WHEN? It's cool to get mosd for stuff like Rimworld and Skyrim but I'm curious to try a story game, admittedly one with a ton of characters, botted up for dialog which can trigger certain game-AI commands like attack, defend player, whatever. It feels like it would be a terrible idea but that's why I'm curious for a mod like that to show up, what if it isn't
>>
>>739987096
I mean I sort of get the hate, but still half price from the Oblivion remaster
but yeah it's the kind of remaster that should have been free for those who already have the game, or they need to full send it like the Oblivion remaster
thing is that game has never notorious for how it looks, so I have would have been fine with any kind of decent looking port
but fuck it, I'll probably fix it myself
>>
I liked the detail that you could take a shit in the middle of the street in NY and no one would notice but if you smash that store window above the canal in China to grab items 5 guards will sprint across half the map to deal with you
>>
>>739985684
Deus Ex is jarring in 2026 because it has better level design, reactive dialogue, RPG mechanics, atmosphere than 90% of modern games
But it looks so fucking dated. Even with mods.
Given that were are living through a shockingly close reality to the game it could sorely benefit from a photorealistic overhaul, with maps that dont look like a collection of different colored boxes

>>739989801
I almost always keep pepper gun and some extinguishers on me after finding out how insanely busted they are. Gas grenades are actually kind of shit compared to just running at guys, activating either and spinning around to get all of them disabled for a billion years.
>>
>>739989961
In GMDE theres a perk that makes gas grenades non lethal knockouts if they are in the vicinity of the first blast which is cool but yeah vanilla theyre a pain in the ass if you dont have the hazard aug or a hazmat suit
>>
>>739990072
It's also the skill-dependent delay, the fact that they run, the clouds being spread out so much that they can miss people who are closer to the blast than others who get hit. It's all adds up to being way more inconvenient to disable with.

I like the automation of things you would want to automatically use, hate the AI improvements and needless meddling with the hacking system. In the end I mostly just keep it on for aug canister shuffling to change up playthroughs.

It's possible, but not on every laser trap. I'm pretty sure blue lasers will just trigger 100% of the time and a solid majority of the red lasers will also trigger alarms.
But when it works it works. You can use extinguishers or smokes for that purpose as well, too.
>>
>>739992539
Just use Kentie's, it's all you really need to get it running well on modern systems.

Sounds like incomplete content. I never did that, but I'm assuming Anna never turns up in-game again anyway, right?
There might've originally been an escape path planned that didn't involve killing her, and it just never got fully implimented.

I genuinely want to know what is wrong with your brain, that you prefer the stupid two action system, to natural character progression of the characters you are using becoming better at doing things as they do them.

Oblivion remaster was dogshit too.

I've never seen someone deck out the 10mm like that before. Is it good? I usually just get the autism strength power and ram the baton up everyone's ass.
>>
>>739995707
Fully decked 10mm is probably the most ammo efficient gun in the game that is also silent and serves as a pocket sniper.
>>
>>739995707
He's playing on modded, but vanilla 10mm is really good. You can beat the entire game with it.
Good damage, decently accurate(I mean, as long as you do put some points into the skill and get some upgrades), ammo is basically everywhere with rare exceptions, etc.
The only weaknesses are bots, and lack of any silencer functionality.

If you're playing vanilla or anything that doesn't nerf the lasersight you can just slap it onto any weapon and it instantly becomes 100% accurate.

Yeah. Try to finish the level after that, the Battery Park one. That one actually has a secret route to the objective.
Or the one after that, Hell's Kitchen. That one is like a mini hub with side missions and stuff.
>>
>>739995554
>characters you are using becoming better at doing things as they do
NTA but I always hated the part even when I dislike the casual feel of nuXCOM.
I hate that it always adds the busy work and poorly planned out scalability. The best example is in Silent storm when you can become a master at hiding without even trying because ALL NPCs train your stealth skill when you try hiding, even friendly ones. Or when the best way to train engineering is to repeatedly booby trap and disarm a door for an hour.
>>
>>739999668
You would think that ss2 would prime you for slow burn.
