If you are using the shotgun or pistol, you will need an openish area so that you can climb over the salad and buy time while unloading into it. Obviously, both climbing claws and the jetpack are very useful for avoiding the salad's mouth, but both are subject to loot RNG.I'd suggest loading up the sandbox, giving yourself guns and some different ammo, and get a feel for fighting the salad. The rifle especially needs some practice because of its atrocious recoil on full auto, and the others will need to be reloaded repeatedly in order to deter an angry vegetable bowl which means that fast reloading is an important skill.

After some testing I've come to the conclusion that a throwaway fluid container is the best solution to spike traps.For whatever reason spikes only empty the liquid and cannot destroy the item. You can even trip a whole line of spike traps in one go. This isn't really necessary since you can use any disposable item, but chucking three glowfruit is wasting 30ml of biochem. That can add up.
