I'm not saying it wont sell, it most likely will sell because valve does low volume sales.
However it will likely not sell as well. And I expect them to introduce some kind of barebones model eventually.
>>
>>740282127
It will sell gazillions because there are a ton of unquestioning Gabe glazers. And given how AMD has absolutely abandoned RDNA 3, Gabe is even more retarded for configuring and pricing it the way he has. And it even has half the stuff soldered.

>And given how AMD has absolutely abandoned RDNA 3
this does not matter at all to the Steam machine.
The driver is opensource.

Man shut the fuck up nigga. The steam deck sold out in a minute and cost 900$. Everyone saying oh it wont sell is smoking Crack and a Nintendo fanboy

Epic
>>
>>740282326
youre basically committing to 5 years to an already severely outdated and abandoned piece of hardware that is half soldered on that lacks all the hardware support for features that are rapidly evolving and will be needed to handle the shit lack of optimization that is becoming the norm now. and no not just aaa games, since i know you will bring that up.
>>
>>740282431
You added the qualifier that because it doesn't have 10 million to buy to sell out it doesn't "sell well." If it sells out, it sold well. Dumb ass
>>
>>740282127
This could have been a great low spec addition to my collection but only if it was dirt cheap. Even if they somehow keep the price in an acceptable range (which also assumes this won't be cancelled) fans and scalpers will buy it up and there is little reason for them to restock it.

OH MY GOD THATS FROM GOD OF WAR
>>
They're hyping up a price reveal at SGF tomorrow and it's going to break the internet how laughably disastrously bad it will be.
I'm warning you all. Get ready.
>>
>>740282127
low specs PCs were super good before the ram outages but now even the "cheap build" costs at least 1.5k, shit's fucked.
>>
>>740282985
i got my PC used from a friend and even got a GPU before the prices went to shit
I'm fine.
>>
>>740282909
Isn't it kind of unusual for modern valve to use something like SGF? This is a company that doesn't need promotion. The hardware was revealed on their social media accounts on a random weekday. And if the prices were going to be good they would've already revealed them, and why would they reveal embarrassing prices on stage? I think this is about deadlock or something that normies don't really know about. Half life 3 would overshadow everything in the SGF and delete it from public memory, so it won't be revealed there.
>>
Build a fucking PC FFS

Wrong, Geoff said he doesn't know the price

Valve is probably not going to be on SGF at all
>>
>>740282314
Imagine if Timmy made a similar fumble, we wouldn't hear the end of it
>>
>>740285202
nah not in today's market.
>>
Gaben knows it'll go out of stock because of scalpers so he'll still make a profit lmao
>>
>>740289759
The Steam Machine will have a queue, a buy limit of 1 unit and the account has to be old and in good standing.
>>
>>740290717
Interesting.
I do find it plausible for a scalper to have more than 1 old steam accounts just in case. I hope I'm proven wrong
>>
>>740282127
Well yeah, they're not going to overstock them at these prices, that's for sure. That would be a really dumb waste of money.
>>
>>740282314
it's funny because 20 million is probably what they make is a short period from cs go gambling boxes bullshit
>>
TO STOP A GABEN

How retarded do you have to be to buy a shitty mini PC just because Valve made it? There's literally no reason to want one.

You just don't understand anon... Overpriced gfx-110x e-waste is le good actually even though the linjeets shilling this garbage FOR FREE won't even buy it!
>>
I was really interested at first, but seeing how uncertain the date frame is now and after the Steam Deck price hikes I just know it won't have an appealing price either. Guess I'll have to build a minipc myself after all. Can someone gimme some specs that can play modern games at 1080p60 medium settings without framegen for at least a few more years?
>>
this thing is gonna sell twice as many units as PS5+XBOX+Switch2 combined, the only problem Valve has is if they built enough of these systems to sell
>>
>>740282127
imagine waiting on this shitbox low end PC as an upgrade
>>
>>740291574
>There's literally no reason to want one.
Properly supported hardware Linux for less than enterprise shit is a reason
>>
>>740294265
Nigga as long as your pc is AMD Linux will work completely fine
I can tell you easily fall for retarded marketing gimmicks
>>
>>740294463
>as long as your pc is AMD
Look man, NVIDIA is shit but it isn't as bad on Linux now as it was before, I have essentially zero issues even with a PRIME setup.
>>
>>740294463
You've clearly never used Linux on random AMD hardware
Resume from sleep actually working will be a reason to buy steam machine as it is with deck
>>

steamies don't want you to know about that

Doing computer thing
Doing other thing that is not computer thing
Resume doing computer thing with programs all in same state they were left in
While consuming 2 watts instead of 50

Not applicable to average v user but I touch grass and exchange time for monetary compensation
>>
>>740282127
What's the point in even caring about the steam box. You and I aren't even going to be able to buy one.

>t. Still waiting on steam controller reservation
>>
>>740295390
So you're poor? Got it.
Usecase for white people?
>>

>>
>>740295781
lol. I don't even look at my bills. They come out my account. I put heating on when I need it. I leave the PC on all day.

ha ha ha ha
>>
>>740282127
The Steamdeck is always sold out but it has only sold like 4 mere millions in 3 years.
>>
Steam Deck is at 4 million, last I heard. This will do around 2 over its lifetime. There's not going to be much legs because of the price.

im stuck on win 8 cuz everything past that got remote shut off
>>

smart people can be the dumbest motherfuckers sometimes
>>
>>740282127
Honestly, if you make more than like 40k year and live by yourself, the price really won’t matter.
Yeah it sucks that a lot of guys are gonna be priced out of it, but I was so happy with the steam deck that I knew I’d be getting the Steam Machine day 1. And when they come out with the pro or elite version a year later, I’m gonna get that too
>>
>>740285202
32gigs of shitty ram cost 500 buckeridoos and i'm not paying for that, i'll just wait until prices fall
>>
>>740294906
Are you saying resume from sleep specifically doesn't work with AMD hardware but works with Nvidia and Intel?
>>
>>740282127
you can get laptops with the same specs for cheaper than that and they come with a battery, keyboard and screen

I'm going to fucking lose it if we get nothing at SGF
>>
>>740291574
8GB VRAM and PC Vegans have a parasocial relationship. The Steam Deck has never outsold the Wii U or the Vita.
>>
>>740282127
these sell in the thousands you can see the numbers on ebay and amazon. i have one of these, very nice. only 15 watts max power usage.

thats not to say that your mini pc is going to have so low wattage you need to buy the correct processor. very cheap.

Gabe glazers are mostly poor people, they will suck him off but cant afford his products thats why deck only sold 4 million
