Speaking of radiation, well today i just got my first ever unchipped run in C:U ended because of it. The screen doesn't go haywire with noise nor shows any kind of sign from radiation in unchipped mode, so you could be sitting right beside the fucking elephant's foot and simply not know it until it's too late. Sometimes the spooks can kill you too as happened to me here, lol. I should have checked my helmet status, man.Still happy though since i managed to journey down all the way to layer 4, i expected to just get sniped by some turret in the desert lands.Anyway, highly recommend trying the unchipped mode if you haven't yet. It's quite the surreal experience compared to normal, feels less like a video game full of stats and numbers etc. and more like "real survival" if that makes sense. Not having a chip gives a very weird isolating feel but also feels more like an actual adventure. I found it kino.

If I read this as a reverse-rape story where some poor depressed sob is just going through the motions with hedonistic need to feel something, then this would be fine. But he's otherwise put on a pedestal and the story goes to great lengths to explain his state of mind. But why not during sex, ostensibly the climax of the story? Maybe I'm just very nitpicky about my smut, but this is low budget porn written down.

My problem is that the author decided to use the narrator, the voyager itself, to make this comparison. Implying that the voyager has the kind of mentality to make this observation in the first place. Ferraris and Wagyu steaks also exist in the public consciousness and we don't see the author specifically make the voyager mention that if asking nicely they'll give him a cut of Wagyu, or that he asked for a racecar shaped bed but was declined. The former may characterize him as someone wanting to live a life of luxury, while the latter may characterize him as childish. Making a remark about his own death and it being written down for us to read does inevitably characterize him just the same. Because it's what the author deemed worthy of writing down.

If it was just a barotrauma type game with humans I don't think it would've made the rounds that it is right now. The game being so grimdark with cute creatures naturally triggers that empathy and protector part of our brains and its why it's becoming such a phenomenon. For me, it's actually painful to play the game because I feel like I am responsible for what happens to my expie. They make really sad noises when they get hurt. I was only able to play the game once and I couldn't play it again. A lot of people (me included) want to see them happy and rescued from their doomed existence. That's a big catalyst for original stories and content. As for what some of the other unruly anons are posting... that's just 4chan.
