At 90 you've got a few thousand crit which translates into X% chance, and the instant you ding Lv91 that same number equals bullshit bare minimum % chance. Then you get aaaaaall that new Lv100 gear until whatever the new theoretical cap is, to once again have X%. They could throw out almost every stat and nakedly operate off the iLvl function, leaving only small bonuses to crit/det/etc that represent your incremental climb each expansion. I wish it was still like 1.0, where you could pump a weird stat because it gave a range of bonuses(like VIT on a healer because it increased Enhancing Magic, which in turn powerd up HoTs), but this is the state SE has put the game in.
If you play the free trial its basically just dumbed down xenoblade game with the suggestion of online play for a handful of things, theres no direct chat guilds marketboard or pvp modes so you are basically railroaded into the default catch up and levelling progression that doesn't really require you to interact with anyone and besides some super autistic end game grinds you mostly just have the roguelike and story stuff to fuck around with

Evolved PLD just adds even more depth to it since you aren't bound to the strict 1 minute rotation anymore.I also didn't talk about the defensive kit, but Evolved PLD has to play around its holy sheltron timing, cover can be used as literal cover or as a pure mobility tool for uptime or fix some mistakes, it has a more flexibel access to instant cast clemencies, you will a have some rare situational use cases for the heal on passage of arms and probably more stuff I haven't thought of yet.PLD is already the best tank for hard gaming, but evolved PLD is gonna be able to absolute sicko mode when the situation calls for it.

It does feel like your fingers are doing a lot (even if it's just because of button bloat)....except that this only happens at max level, and you only learn about it if you're trying to do the raids. For lower level and casual content, you don't press that many buttons.Anyway, we don't know exactly what you want, but the trial is free and generous, and if you can stomach early game combat you're good.
