Then Jax "abstracts" which, according to the lore, means he goes insane, but the way they portray it in this particular episode, abstracting seems a lot like suicide, which is contradictory to the previous episodes. In fact, in episode 7 they made it seem like abstracting is what happens when Caine fucks with their brain files too much. So it's unclear what abstracting even is, is it when the character ai files get corrupted, or is it a metaphor for suicide, or for going insane?The episode contradicts it a little more, because after he kills himself Pomni is able to go inside of his abstraction and talk to him and he is still there, so he's not actually dead? The big reveal is that the frog girl was in love with him and then he tells the frog he accidentally killed someone and then after that he regrets telling her so he starts avoiding the frog and being a dick to her until she kills herself, and then he keeps going down a similar path with everyone else and he feels like he doesn't deserve forgiveness so he refuses to let anybody forgive him.
