Steam frame is coming within a couple days. Price predictions?
>>741619268Too much to be cheap, too low to be good.
>>741619350>too low to be good.the hell does that mean?it's not like the specs are a mystery
HALF LIFE 3 HALF LIFE 3
>>741619406>the hell does this patently obvious thing meanretardthe price won't be high enough to suggest good quality components making it worthwhile as an actual upgrade-sidegrade
as much as these niggers will buy anything at any price they also hate everything nomatter what too
>>741619454but we already know what the build quality is like, it's well documented. It's also pretty easy to self-repair like the 'eck
>computer in the shape of a black cubeThey always think we don't know their tricks
>>741619268>Price predictions?Probably as much as the video card I need to buy for it to actually be an upgrade from my Quest 2.
>>741619268Only people who still use VR headsets in the year 2026 (6 years after the COVID pandemic) are literally gays and furries and gay furries in VRChatNormies would never put on a stupid hat with monitors just to play vidyaNo one would buy thist. Gay anime avatar user with 2000h in VRChat
$2k dollars and I'm buying one instantly so I can play NES games on a virtual big screen
Can't they just use DDR4 RAM? Would it really be so bad?
>>741619515imagine being so raped by jews you see a cube and think of a rabbi
>>741619406idiot
Don’t fuck around with VR you’ll end up a tranny.
>>741619681Not just a cube, a black computer cube. That has special symbolism, here's a funny youtube video about ithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pBYk3gCFm8
>>741619268Just get a Quest 3 if you wanna play VR.The frame will be at least twice as much.
>>741619723I live with people so I can't use my mic to jerk off with other men thankfully, so if I get hardware like this it will be for pure purposes
>>741619712we already know what the specs and build quality is like
>>741619268The steam machine* your retard
Bitch, Imma be golfin' with Strong Bad, don't care what it costs.Hit me with the frame, G-money.
>>741619793Ok crytojew
>>741619793"how can I make this about isreal"I'm not saying I like what they do but not everything has to be conspiracies...
Frame has a chance to be cheap(ish)Machine will be 1k+
>>741620713>Frame has a chance to be cheap(ish)it can do standalone so it will be relying on ram, it won't be less than 1k
>>741619268$999.99 base model
>>741619268>$1499.99 + 2 hour batter life + LCD + no color pass through
>>741621741>No Poodroid>No WangblowsWorth it.
>>741621620$800 calling it
Gabe cube first then frame trickle down in two more weeks
>>741619268>current year>VRReally? People still care about that shit?
>>741619268It won't be cheaper than $1000
>>741619268Cheaper than the box because it's mostly phone grade components which are still in reasonable price range for now.
>>741619515>>741619681lmao
>>741622209Yeah. It's the epitome of videogames and all true vidya enthusiast care about it.
definitely not buying it during summerI'm much more excited about a huge 4K OLED TV which will enable immersive games with headtracking too btwVR has become gay jerk off club
>>741622364>It's the epitome of videogameslollmao even
>>741622209The only reason it hasn't achieved similar penetration akin to worse memes like early LCDs and 16:9 is the lack of competent companies backing it and sabotaging the competition.HMDs will always be kind of cool, consumer versions are commercially viable, there is genuine malfeasance at play.
>>741619268$999 base, $1200 or 1300 for the higher model, probably like $1500 for the enthusiast kit.
>>741619268Irrelevant and DOA. Pico Swan killed this in the crib
>>741619723Nigger just use male avatars, it's not that hard
$1000 starting, 'less than Index' was a lieat least double/triple that if you miss the 1-2 minute window to reserve one and are put on waitlist for upwards of a year like some Steam Controller orders are being hit with
>>741624278Yeah the amount of shit valve isn't getting for all of this is wild to me
>>741624278>'less than Index'Well, in 2019 the Index was $1000. So that's $1308 today. The frame is going to be $1307.99 plus tip plus tax plus preorder fee plus services. See? Less than the index! :^)
>>741619712 >>741619350
>>741623760Enjoy your spyware.
>>741625741>Steam does the same thing too! But that's okay because...IT JUST HECKIN' IS OKAY?!
>>741625819because they're a private american company and not a front for the ccp
>>741625819>Runs ARM Linux with unlocked bootloader>Don't need to run SteamOS, you can just run any ARM Linux distro>You probably don't even need to run SteamVs.>Runs Android with what is likely a locked bootloader, which exists exclusively to push ads, harvest your data and run bloatware
>>741625819>You commie loving trash. You're comparing hardware deadlocked on their software where they will monitor whaterver they like while Steam, their and the "don't collect data" option and they will allow and even encourage you to modify the software giving you freedom.
>>741625893>>741626264It's just another company company collecting your data. >don't collect dataDYRBI>>741626070>You probably don't even need to run SteamAnd still get your data stolen...
>>741627530You don't need to believe it retard, just uninstall the stock distro and install your own
>>741627614>just uninstall the stock distro and install your own...just to get your data stolen somewhere else. Great solution.
>>741627530>already got spied on once doesn't matter anymoreDo you also let every faggot rape you since it already happened once? What an absolutely bizarre mindset
>>741627824Impressive levels of tech illiteracy
>>741619793>Schizobabble >"Here's a YouTube video"Every single time, it's really comical and despite all your pattern noticing, this is the one that you ignore.
>>741627979>Random fag rape fantasies out of nowhereNot surprising from a steam cultist. My point is you're just running somewhere else to get your shit stolen. It's not a solution to your problem.>>741628014>j-just let me invite steam to steal my data!
>>741628160>anon lets every faggot rape him since his uncle already did itGrim
>>741620662Realest nigga on /v/ all year.Hope you get what you want.
>>741628230>More fag rape projections You have a million of those but you can't come up with one reason why you want Steam to steal your data so much.
>>741623760Does this have all the optimizations for PC streaming? That's what matters in the end, none of the in-headset shit is worth anything in the end.
>Complain some commi spyware is better>Rant about everything steals data to justify their poorness.Kepp baiting man, it seems to be working.>>741620662This, I'm hopping for some kind of announcement today.
my god just sell me damn heeb cube already
Such a shame that after a long fucking time Valve does something actually cool but gets raped by the circumstances. Steam Controller is the best PC accessory I bought in years and would probably get the Cube if it was reasonably priced even tho it is slightly worse than my PC just to put it in the living room
>>741619268Is a 3070 enough for modern VR titles?Or is my lacking vram going to hold me back? Not worried about CPU, got an Intel 12900k
>>741625046The Index was $1000 until the moment they stopped selling it.Nice try.
>>741619561Correct
>>741619268$1299
>Complain some commi spyware is betterNever said it was better, retard-sama. I said bragging about an alternative that does the exact same thing doesn't mean anything.>Rant about everything steals data to justify their poorness. So you're okay with paying a premium price to get your data stolen?
>>741619723Just don't install VRChat
>>741619681>raped by jewsYes. I am now NOTICING!!!!! Fuck your Saturn cube. TKD. HH.
>>741629483No...you don't understand. I HAVE to. And don't tell me just to use a male avatar. They're literally forcing me to use one now. It's just inevitable for me to join an ERP server full of men. And don't even think about telling me just to play any other VR game either!
>>741630178Uhhh... Synth Riders is fun
>>741619268Is there a preorder page up or anything? I want one to replace my old Oculus Rift S after the OculusKiller mod got broken.
>>741632757They are (supposedly) announcing when reservations open sometime tomorrow.
>>741619268You can buy a used 512gb Quest 3, which is better in every way, for 300 bucks on eBay. No one is going to buy this piece of overpriced junk.
>>741632949I'm going to buy one unless the price is truly unreasonable.>buy a Quest 3Anything made by Meta spies on your PC like you have no fucking idea. Go install Meta's software (the stuff required to run your headset), turn on Wireshark, and watch how much data it sends back to Zuck's HQ, even when the headset isn't in use.
>>741619268I'm hoping for less than $800. Any more and its just too irresponsible of a purchase to make rn.
>>741619268If it's more than £400 then it's too much.
>>741623760>Pico SwanWill be over $2k
>>741633253Thankfully WiVRN and ALVR exist, but a clean headset would be nice.
IT'S LITERALLY 100% HAPPENING CONFIRMED TODAY BROS REV UP THOSE DONATIONS
>>741634376Those look like wifi VR, but I'm talking about the cancerous backend with Meta's VR headsets. The Oculus Rift is a wired one.
>>741633253And how about Steam?
>>741634180It's going to cost £900, it was probably supposed to cost 550.
>>741636956>, it was probably supposed to cost 550There was no world where this was going to happen. They wanted it to be nearly 1k.
>>741636871Steam has the opt-in hardware survey, but beyond basic connectivity stuff, I never noticed undue spying. And if it existed, the anti-Steam shills would be trumpeting it every five seconds.
>>741637270We arent using dollar signs
-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK
what the heck
OOF
>>741638346>>741638585>>741638775HALF LIFE 3 ANNOUNCEMENT AAAAANY SECOND NOW
>>741638775is this realbuilding your own is much cheaper, which duh, but i mean MUCH cheaper
>>741638869real and yes.
>>741638869Gabe's yachts and doomsday bunkers don't fund themselves. Pay up steamie.
It's like the steam sale, you just need to wait 20 minutes and F5 and the real price shows up.
>>741638869post the pcpartpicker list then
new tyler cope dropped>HL3 being announced 2025>HL3 being announced steam machine launch>HL3 not being announced because AI fucked up steam machine
Doesn't matter because it won't be released in Switzerland. I WANT A LINUX-FIRST HMD GOD FUCKING DAMN IT FUCK VALVE 2bh
>>741639167ryzen 5 5600 and rtx 4060 are at or above those specs, they cost roughly $400 put together
>>741625893>because they're a private american company and not a front for the ccpAnd tell me, whose government has authority over you, or has sufficient influence to direct enforcement action against you if it decides it wants to (hint: the american government has significant influence across all Fourteen Eyes)?
>>741624278It's a 3 day random reserve window now. So now you can snipe it in the first minute and get it in 2027 and some yuppie who heard it mite b cool on day 3 can get the first shipment.
Frame will be 800 bucks at minimum, given Machine 512gb being 1039 bucks

>>741640282Considering the ass raping these prices are you'll be lucky if the frame standalone is $1k
>>741640282I don't think there's any chance it goes for below $900 for the basic modelguaranteed $1000+ for the model with actually usable amounts of storage
>>741640560b-b-b-but it uses mobile ram and storage units, it should be cheaper right ? it wouldn't make any sense otherwise outside of greed
>>741639480>DDR4anyway, mobo +$100, psu +$100, case +$100, 16gb DDR4 +$100, 512gb nvme +$100that's $900, so you are saving $150 by getting an old CPU with DDR4. yes you could save more if you buy shittier components but then why not just buy used, poorfag
>>741624456Is valve responsible for AI, tariffs and the economy right now or did I miss something
>>741640282I think $800-900 was going to be the price before the cost increases. It was always going to be more expensive than the Steam Machine, and the target price was under the original Index's $1000. This shit is going to be like $1300 - $1600.
>>741641026
>>741641026any price to escape zucc crutch
>>741619506so is it good? I actually don't know what the build quality is like. QRD?I have a quest 3. I had a older steam vive thing too. Worth upgrading from the quest 3? desu I don't VR much because it's kind of a hassle and I fucking HATE facebook and their meta crap is an additional barrier to my enjoyment of VR, but I like the idea of VR.
>>741640984>psu +$100, case +$100, 16gb DDR4 +$100, 512gb nvme +$100kek
>>741641026shouldn't the Frame not be nearly as affected by the price increases?it's using mobile LPDDR memory
>>741641368The problem is that at this price, Steam Frame isn't going to be the shot in the arm VR needed. Studios are already dropping like flies because Zucc's attention span ran out.
>>741641009You can buy a gaming laptop with the same specs for cheaper if you wait for sales like black friday. The Rog Ally X is cheaper despite being only a little weaker. This is more Valve being greedy and their inexperience with supply chains than tariffs, which are managed much better by other corpos.
>>741641863Suppliers are the same so the problem is the same.
>>741619268I'm just hoping the price is comparable to the Steam Deck. If it turns out to be another $1000 headset I'm not buying it.
>>741619268I’ve never tried VR before and I’ve been a gamer since the SNES. I’m gonna buy the steam frame and play some horror shit!
>>741642370Given the Machine pricing I'm now expecting Frame to be nearly $2000.
>>741619268They'll make 1000 units like they did with the controllers and never restock.
>>741642370Anon, I think it would be a miracle for it to be near the NOW base model Deck. I think the engineering that went into creating the Frame, plus the controllers having to be bundled together, means the Frame would hit the $1k mark. That being said, I am absolutely astounded that the Machine is as cheap as it is. That was a real fucking curveball. So I'm predicting either $850 or $900 for base model Frame, going up to $1K for adding on whatever the "enthusiast kit" ends up being.
what does this even do is the cube part of the frame too ?
>>741645936It's just a tiny PC that doesn't look ridiculous next to your living room TV. It runs Linux distribution called SteamOS that is designed to be used with a controller.
>>741629101The 3070 is good enough at this resolution, but with a big asterisk. You will have to make compromises to your rendering resolution and to your game settings. I have a 3080ti and an HP Reverb G2. The Frame and it have the exact same per eye resolution. In games that use SteamVR instead of OpenXR, I often have to turn rendering down to 60%-70% and run games at medium settings. This is where I’ve been hoping the Steam Frame gives the greatest increase to performance, since it will be a headset that uses Valve’s api without any translation layer.
