/v/pol is not ready for this conversation yet but digital is simply better, always has been
just like with digital books which is far superior and convinient than physical books
>download once
>no futher online connections required (for the single player)
>use at any time whenever you want
>no need to stack an entire shelf of cheap plastic junk with a bunch of games nobody will play more than once
it's time to move on uncs, we are not living in the 90s anymore, get on with the times gramps

>Digital books
Flat pages, especially for manga is so much better. The physical experience is nice turning pages but digital out weighs that single benefit with its other qualities. Games are largely the same imo. Physical has 1 benefit(pre ps3 era anyway) of upnp with no patches needed no online etc. That single benefit will never outweigh how much better it is for me to use my steam lib.

Replace all those corporate icons for torrent client logos and I will agree with you OP

??? There are plenty of games that require an internet connection and constantly connect to the publisher's servers for DRM checks. Being digital or physical does not change this. The only way you can get around the always online mandate for some games is to pirate a cracked version.

Wait, just let me put on this album that disappeared from Spotify as background music to laugh at your thread.

>digital books
apparently most commercial digital books are scanned with dogshit photographic scanners that bloom out fine lines
and they usually ask almost physical price as an extra slap to the uneducated buying effectively murky 100dpi shit
>>
I agree because steam is too big to fail.

Maybe if you just download epub/pdfs and read them on your laptop or tablet but Kindle fucking sucks. Also being able to put stickys in your book, underline and annotate makes physical books irreplaceable.

Yes. Digital is better.
Physical lost its few advantages on consoles when it and the consoles themselves started depending on patching, authentication and company hosted servers for functionality.
This wouldn't even be a debate if software copyright hadn't been so poorly implemented and abused in the 80s, imagine if we were all still on floppies, because they decided that CDs didn't confer right of first sale benefits or something.

Don't store your files on someone else's PC.

My house was lost in a natural disaster in 2022. All my digital games were backed up while my physical collection got waterlogged. There's definitely a tangible benefit. As opposed to an intangible risk of "Well, Sony could nuke your library at any time for any reason!"
>>
hmm

no. I don't trust society. I must posses physical copies of whatever media I hold dear. Just in case things get as bad as it looks like things are getting.

That sucks, did insurance cover it?

Yes but it took about 18 months lol.

It's just Kindle that fucking sucks. Been using an e reader for years now. Just got one that wasn't the size of a stamp and had a pen. Does everything a normal book does only that I don't need to carry the library. Especially great since the specialty books I needed were several hundred bucks each and pirating the epubs was free.
>>
My only gripe with Digital is Drm faggotry, I don't care about physical reselling factor I just want to own my copy and not have it become unusable due to outside factors.

I bet Wings wished he bought more discs instead of digital games
