Take Malsook for example, most of the time she's on screen and not talking or in focus she has this grumpy and lost expression. That was not direction, she really was aimless for most of it, you can see her pull the same outcast face on the BTS yet that leans perfectly into her role of wounded lanky flat girl getting mogged left and right by overnight bimbo harem. You don't really get that in 2, she went from pent up losing heroine to... kinda bland childhood friend, and the other reasons I can't mention. Her tangible frustration replaced with the physical violence gags that were barely a footnote and didn't even register as a personality trait in 1. The game struggling to juggle so many girls doesn't help either, she goes from the heart and soul binding it all together and a co-protag to just another girl in the larger scheme. Storytaco should study 1 a little harder to understand how the story beats played off of each other, or even ask players for feedback, because my biases for some of the girls aside FHUOR2 ended up pretty lacking and their other games seem hellbent on mimicking only the superficial aspects without developing or acknowledging contrasts, DFMB aside.Hiring outside the model pool again for a change would go a long way too, the acting is getting grimmer and grimmer.
