i feel like deltarune already does a good job of this, but chapter 5 was like the perfect amount of combat. never got tiresome, basically only fought basic enemies enough to hit the recruit limit, lots of good gimmick fights. the more i think about it, the more i realize people (justifiably) hating the susie/noelle shit in the first ten minutes really colored their whole perception of the chapter.

Twin Peaks is mysterious, it even parodies how lame it would be if it did just lay it all out in its penultimate episode like people clamored for, it would be a less interesting and less impactful work if it just laid it all out. Whether things should be revealed or not varies on the story, but for something like Deltarune and a character like Gaster, I feel like so much of what is interesting about it in the first place is the mystery of it that just laying it all out sounds like it couldn't be satisfying. In my experience, the way things like this usually end up the most interesting is if they answer questions, but in such a way that only raises more questions in the process. Answering nothing makes the story feel like its spinning its wheels, but answering everything makes it feel like there's nothing for you to discover or think about yourself. In any event, however Gaster is handled, he is not Darth Vader and I don't think he should be handled as such.

I don't know how the former would work out but the latter could play on how the story and its characters matter because you cared about them even if it is all fake.
