I signed up for another installment of Whimsical Adventure feat. Weird Teens and that's what I got. Two more to go. It's not like It's gonna get milked endlessly. It was not a bad episode and I trust that shit will get more serious in the finale. i cannot imagine how much more jarring it would be playing 3, 4, and 5 all back to back and going from fighting the titan and susie declaring that they'll fight against fate only for all of that to be thrown out the window and the story comes to a screeching halt, because susie decided her date with noelle is suddenly more important and the dark world is just an undertale/ ch1 memberberry fest
which is a shame because there are a lot of little moments that are really good, but as an entire product it's definitely one of the weaker chatpers, maybe only surpassing ch1 and that's primarily because ch1 is the most primitive and has the least content

Plenty of people pointed out how friendshippilled Susie was and how Noelle wouldn't like Susie seeing she's no longer that bully from Chapter 1 just to quadruple down and go all in on Susie doing a complete 360 into the festival becoming a huge deal as a romantic date about Noelle while ignoring what happened in the previous chapter, not to mention the retcon on the bullying situation on Kris which was previously estabilished to be Toriel and home life to be a crush on Noelle that had no previous hints.
That not being enough, he also made sure to include a line saying how Noelle likes the new Susie even better than before, completely out of nowhere, to hamfist further Suselle.
The whole Suselle section this time feels like a humiliation ritual for Kris that you cannot opt out from with all exits being blocked off, just grin and bear it until the Dark World sections opens up.

he wrote it down and came up with a super rough draft for the characters and maybe bits of ch1, but shelved it after making a single room because he realized he was way out of his depth, so he made undertale as a practice run to see if he could make a game
the actual work on deltarune didn't begin until 2016, where he claims to have written down the overall plot and wrote some songs like it's tv time, first draft of sunset of 7 sons, and iirc black knife
we know queen changed from that original draft because she was supposed to be more of an antagonist before becoming the goofball we got, and i'm 100% certain that ch5 was heavily rewritten due to how weird it feels coming off of ch3 & 4
i wouldn't be surprised if that's why it took an extra year

That's kind of par for the course when it comes from characters Ralsei already dislikes and it being the member berries chapter. Like there are two characters that actually care about the hat ralsei thing and that's Flowery and Orange.
The former forces it onto him and Ralsei already actively hates him. Susie even points out that Ralsei liked being a butler and he said finds that rather "context-based" before tossing that suit in the water. Even then, nothing stopped him from taking off the hat from then to the Petal Feather so he might not have total resentment towards wearing a hat.
Orange on the other hand tends to call him ugly and tells him to wear a hat a few times, but that also tracks as she's also very insecure about her appearance and abilities that even when Ralsei tries to be nice she gets upset and pisses him off. Its not totally out of left field to get angry at someone who talks shit but hasn't looked in the mirror
Toby has definitely put stuff in with regards to what fans do. The Mikes merely existing is proof of that, so in that instance you're probably still right. but unless you for some reason see yourself in mainly Orange I don't think Toby writes every line or character that you or I don't like with the explicit purpose of kicking you in the knees and spitting in your mouth

Literally a few hours before the Festival, she saw the end of the Prophecy, fought a Titan and lost her respect for the only person in Hometown that she always had respect for. A few hours later she's acting like a giddy schoolgirl over her date without even a single comment from Ralsei, Kris, Lancer or the Queen that she needs to cope in a healthier way.

It's similar to Ralsei's arc in this chapter, where it was pretty obvious he was struggling with what to tell his friends and how to cope with the Prophecy coming true, but his dislike of Flowery is so instant and out of nowhere it feels OOC, even though there's plenty of good reasons for him to clash with Flowery on a philosophical level. I can see what the chapter is *trying* to do, but it doesn't do it very well.

It feels like the entirety of this chapter was just people grin and bearing as Toby REALLY wants to appeal to the mentally ill part of the fanbase by shoving wokeslop in your face the entire chapter.

They thing that drives me insane is all the Toby cocksuckers have extremely visible Tumblr accent. You can HEAR it in the way they type.

People seem to violently misunderstand the point of Kris' dark worlds. They're literally deflecting escapism nonsense (that so far outside of Weird Route have had no real consequences for their loved ones.)

So why not defuse everything that happened at the Festival that the kid is having trouble processing by going on more funny adventures like before. The big shift will happen when his creation of one leads to a real major incident (likely with Noelle to make a rift between him and Susie).

Kindly fuck off already. People absolutely HATE theory-baiting games, and Chapter 5 have done exactly that, posing more and more questions and zero actual answers. Chapter 5 is like a Hello Neighbor or FNAF, vagueposting on top of vagueposting, without actual substance. Sure, theorists would love that, but actual players want ANSWERS, not questions.
On top on that, nothing actually happened in Chapter 5. Every chapter before that ended on a shocking reveal or similar stuff. Take note that "shocking reveal" does not equal "lore". There was plenty of background lore in Chapter 5 already, but there's zero plot progression or shocking stuff. Chapter 5 was great, but it fizzled out without actual BANG at the end.
